When moving our stuff from DC to Lauderdale we sought bids from numerous moving companies. Progressive was who we decided to go with in the end. We were given a bid of around $900 if we packed ourselves. We packed about half of it and let the super nice moving guys do the rest. That packing of half of a small one-bedroom apartment jacked the rate up to $3,000.... plus the tip the lead mover guy came right out and asked us for ($150).

At this point we were pretty unhappy with this company, but it was a done deal, so what are ya gonna do? Well, this price included one month of free storage in Lauderdale, which was what swung us to them. Circumstances conspired against us and our furniture was actually in storage for over 3 months with them. They did not add on for that. This, I must say, softened my view of them a great deal.

Wehn the van was finally unloaded to the condo, everything was instact... including the heirloom very-expensive china pieces. We had been extremely worried about that, but for no reason.

So, I have to say that I do recommend them... but ignore that initial bid because it is likely to triple by the time your stuff is loaded.

PROS: Free Storage, Fragile items arrived intact
CONS: Bid tripled
