Two employees of Van Allen Insurance are rude, emotionally deficient and unprofessional in their handling of my insurance needs. Both have prevented me from talking to the owner Linda Van Allen even though I have telephoned her office, left messages and received call backs from the individuals who answer the telephone telling me she is never available. For some reason they find my personal tragedies a reason to create havoc with both my homeowners and auto insurance. One person told me she knows my car is not in Florida or that I am not there because she drives by my house every day. So the four second drive by and X-Ray vision gives her the ability to ascertain whether someone is home or not. Florida is known for people who only visit their homes when they can. They are called snow birds. Also many people buy houses for investment purposes and do not live in the house. Because of the economic downturn many houses are either not occupied at the time or are in foreclosure. Van Allen was notified in December 2009 that because of the unexpected deaths of my daughter (mother of five children) and my son who was murdered in Florida, I was staying with my grandchildren in Staten Island to help them cope with the trauma of the deaths. She was given my mailing address and telephone number on Staten Island. The agent knew my homeowner's insurance was going to lapse but made no effort to contact me. I had mail forwarding from Inverness, but the cancellation notice was delivered too late. When I called the agent, she played dumb and seemed to be enjoying my plight. This agent had to find another underwriter and after many telephone calls and faxes the insurance was placed on the house. This particular agent kept telephoning me over and over saying she did not get the faxes making me send the same paperwork until she decided she had it. She said the fax machine at Van Allen did not work right and that I need to keep sending the same paperwork. I wonder if she thought she was being amusing. Because of the lapse in homeowner's insurance, my mortgage company, Chase Home Finance was notified and from June 2010 until now, I have been harrassed on a daily basis because they could or would not straighten out their records. The very same agent (now she knew my telephone number) notified me that the new insurance company lost my paperwork and check. I asked her if I could make an electronic debit to my checking account, but she said Van Allen does not do that. I telephoned the Underwriter directly and determined they in fact had the signed paperwork and check. Since then, I deal directly with the Underwriter because the Van Allen agent is either not capable/or finds it amusing in a twisted way to not perform her job. This past week I received a letter from the auto insurance underwriter that indicated I was ineligible for their company to continue my auto insurance because they cannot verify my car is in the garage in Inverness. When I called Van Allen, I spoke to a rude, ignorant, excuse for an employee who informed me she knows I have not been in Inverness for two years. First of all it is not true, secondly when did she become a clairvoyant, and lastly why is she motivated to have Van Allen drop the policy. When I pointed out the tragedies of both my children dying and that I was spending time with my grandchildren, she said "yeah, yeah" I can see that on the computer. She has X-ray vision, keeps tabs on my whereabouts and knows that I am no longer a resident even though I own a house in Inverness, I guess she has a law degree and is knowledgeable about residency requirements. I have two people overseeing my property on a weekly basis. I need to keep that house because I am filing a lawsuit for wrongful death of my son and must be a resident. The two employees have created chaos in my life, do not have the ability to deal directly with the public, are rude and ignorant and should be fired. As soon as possible, I will end my dealings with Van Allen because they are a disgrace to the insurance industry. Barbara Brandkamp, 1029 S. Apopka Ave. Inverness, Florida 34452.
