As I was getting ready to post my complaint, I read some of the other comments. It was interesting that one of the complaints touched on the unprofessionalism portrayed by the management of this place. It was also interesting that my interaction with management was the exact same experience that was posted by another person.

I purchased a bed which was paid for along with the delivery service. When the delivery crew showed up it was raining really hard. I thought that the crew was going to call their manager and ask if they could come back the next day so they wouldn't have to get out in the rainy weather. I would have been fine with it. Instead they brought the bed in to the foyer, which has hard wood floors. The bedroom is carpeted, so I asked the two men if they could take off their shoes, since they were muddy, so as not to mess up my carpet in the bedroom. They obliged and started to take the head board, foot board and rails to the bedroom. All of a sudden their supervisor walks in and tells them to get their shoes back on, because their insurance would not cover them without shoes. i tried to explain to the supervisor that their shoes were muddy and my carpets would be covered with mud if they wore them into the bedroom. He walked outside and stayed on the porch out of the rain and called his store manager. I could here him from inside the house cursing very loudly saying that he didn't have to put up with this
@#$%. We were full of @#$%. This went on for about 5 minutes. When he came back in to the house he was still on the phone but he was talking more calmly now. I asked if I could talk to his manager. He gave me the phone and I started to tell the manager what was going on when he abruptly cut me off by saying his delivery man was right I have no right to demand his people take their shoes off. I tried to explain why I asked them to take their shoes off, when as soon as I got, "I asked" out of my mouth, he cut me off again. This went on for a couple of minutes with me feeling like I hade done something horribly wrong. By this time, I was livid. I spent over $1000 for our bed and was treated like I had stolen the bed.

These guys hit you like vultures at the front door. All smiles while trying to make the sale. Once the payment is made though you are treated like a thief and they have no use for you. Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my 57 years and I have seen alot of bad customer service. Fortunately I have seen alot more good than bad in my life. So when I see bad, I try to tell others, so it will impact the store. They know they are treating people this way, but choose not to correct it. Well, I hope plenty of people read this so they will know what is about to happen to them once they pay for their funiture.

We purchased a mattress and a shoe storage bench. Paid the $120 for shipping and waited at our home all day for the very inconvenient 9am to 9pm arrival time. We got a call around 2:30 they where almost at our home. When they arrived I had a shoe bench but no mattress. The delivery man to us there had been a leak at the warehouse and the mattress was damaged and that the manager said he'd call to inform us of the situation...we received no phone call. While my husband was on the phone with the store I began to lay out the pieces of the bench to assemble (I did not realize it came unassembled or I probably would not have purchased it). I removed all the parts only to find out there were no hardware inside the box. When my husband spoke to the manager, Chance, about not receiving the mattress his answer was "someone was suppose to call you." When he told him there was no hardware his answer was "that's not my fault, that's the manufactures fault." We then asked what he was going to do to get our mattress and hardware and he immediately got very rude, short and would not let my husband speak. After some struggle, we got our mattress the following week, but never received the hardware that Chance called us back to tell us he had ordered. After 3 weeks of waiting I called Coastal (the manufacturer) and ordered the hardware myself, The lady I spoke with said she had no record of Home Place requesting it for me. I contacted Chance's Regional manager to file a complaint 2 weeks ago and still have not heard back for him. That's just bad business. I have never called a company to file a complaint but this I did!

I read serval reviews before going here. I saw where there were 4 or 5 bad reviews. I then went to there website and saw where they had been in business for 27 years. I thought to myself 27 years 1000 of customers and only 4 or 5 bad reviews (not so bad) I work in customer service and know only people who have a problem complain and all the happy say nothing. I went to the store to look for a living room. The prices were fair and I was deliveried within two weeks. The drivers were nice and I even gave them a tip for helping me move my sofa in the garage. Purchased great Bernhardt furniture, but Manager's lied to us and sold us a chest of drawers off the floor and tried to charge us full price. The chest arrived with nuts, bolts, bed parts, etc. inside! Then they told us all pieces were in stock and then decided parts were not, but we would have them in 2-3 weeks. Ok, No biggie.......but 3 weeks came and went and when we called....because we have had NO communications from Home Place.......we were told that we wouldn't have it until OCTOBER! WHAT?????!!!!!!!!! That would make it more like 11 weeks! That is so wrong. The manager Chance will bold face lie to you and then get upset if you question ANYTHING! Their furniture is not worth the hassle! Should have gone to Ethan Allen in Mobile and been done with it!

The chest arrived with nuts, bolts, bed parts, etc. inside! Then they told us all pieces were in stock and then decided parts were not, but we would have them in 2-3 weeks. Good prices-not the greatest quality furniture. Make sure you take the $60 delivery, we had three pieces that had to be returned or repaired.

I went to HomePlace after seeing all the TV spots and my friends had bought there furniture there. I went in found my sofa of my dreams..I am very picky and hard to please but there it was and at a great price. The salesman told me it would take 4 weeks...on the 3rd week he called to tell me of a delay from the factory..I told him I had waited years for the right sofa a couple extra weeks would be fine and thanks for keeping me informed. When it came in I was so happy...yes it was delayed but my salesman kept me informed. Very happy and pleased. Next is my bedroom...

After reading a couple of reviews I was concerned but realized that you can't always make everyone happy. So I went to the store. I was greeted by a salesman as soon as I came in and ask to help me. I explained I had just bought a condo and needed everything. He asked me how many bedrooms and would it be for a rental. I told him yes. He help me pick out everything. Both bedrooms, living room, and dining room. He told me it would be about two to three weeks to arrive. In 3 weeks I got a call and to sch. my delivery. On the day of delivery drivers called me ahead of time to let me know they were on there way...Everything looks great and I got top dollar for my rental...I will use them again for my next condo. Thanks HomePlace

Chance, I just wanted to take a few minutes to tell you thank you for all your assistance and guidance in decorating the condo in Destin. The condo turned out fabulous. Everyone that walks in thinks it is breathtaking. We usually paint the entire house beige because we are afraid of making color mistakes but with your help we were able to give the condo color and everything flows wonderfully. It looks like an elegant Mediterranean villa. I have no doubt we will be able to get top dollar on our rentals because of the furnishings and dcor. Thanks again,

I have never run into service as bad as this in a business where furniture stores try and bend backward to gain your business. I recommended this company based on advertisements and specials as well as location to a handfull of my clients in the last 2 months, grossing them nearly $6000. Not only is their delivery service horrible, a very inconvenient 9 in the morning until 9 at night, it took six weeks to get the furniture in, the delivery schedule was 2 weeks out...and they adamantly refuse to give a ball park of when the furniture will arrive. Being in the resort rental business, this was not user friendly. When I brought my concerns to the Manager, he was hostile, spoke over me and told me not to "treat him like a child". I was shocked at his behavior. The people I referred to the store have all told me never to use them again, and I simply will not. Jenni Rogers, Operations Manager, Resort Industry??

I have seen there commericials and was excited when one came to my town. When it was time for a new sofa and love seat we shopped there and found a sleeper sofa and chaise lounge that we really liked. We purchased them on 5/3/05 and was told the pieces would be available for pick-up on 5/14/05. On 5/13/05 we called to verify we would be coming to pick-up and found out our salesman had quit and the order had never been submitted to the warehouse. This was disappointing, if a salesperson leaves the company should check all his/her outstanding sales, not wait for the customer to call and then deal with it. They tried to tell us it would be two weeks and my husband said all the right things and they agreed to deliver both pieces and waive delivery fee on 5/17/05. Two large sweaty smelly men that could not have bathed in the past 24 hours delivered the peices and it literally took me 6 hours of airing out and spraying room spray to get rid of the stomach turning b.o. 11 days later when my 13-year old nephew sat on the sofa it literally broke beneath him and he sunk down about 8 inches. The boards holding up the bed had completely ripped off after 11 days of use by 2 adults!
I took pics and called Home Place and they sent someone out the next day and agreed to pick the furniture back up in a few days and issue a credit to my credit card. Did you guess yet that they never credited my card??!! I called 8 days after they had picked it up to see why it had not yet been credited and they told me because the credit card number is not stored in their computer. Give me a break!! So once again they don't call the customer, they actually wait for the customer to call them. Unbelievable! We will never buy from Home Place Furniture again.

PROS: some of their sale prices seem good
CONS: don't go the first mile for their customers, much less the extra
