My boyfriend and I visited St Augustine the day before St.Patricks Day. We went to this place because of all the reviews here on City Search. I am pleased to say that the reviews are actually pretty truthful. this place is located Downtown St.Augustine It has a cute setup. The waitress had a great personality. I ordered the Strawberry Lemonade and my boyfriend ordered the Raspberry Iced Tea. My drink was FANTASTIC! I have never tasted such deliciousness. I orderd the Angel Hair Salsa Cruda with Blackened Chicken, and my boyfriend ordered the special. The food is good. the service is great. Kind of pricey though.

Pros: strawberry lemonade
Cons: Not enough strawberry Lemonade in my cup!
This is a great restaurant for a quick bite and a custom brew or a nice sit down dinner. It is great looking out on the bay and watching the horse drawn carriages going down the street. I am a local and it is always fun to take out of town guest here for great ambiance and yummy food.

A1A is one of our favorite spots. The handcrafted beers are very good with Red Brick Ale being a favorite. There are many food choices, but we typically start with the Boninachos or the Beer Cheese Soup (try it as a meal!). Entree selections are varied - the Sesame Tuna, Ragtime Shrimp and Shrimp with Grits are all very good choices. Try and save room for the Grilled Banana Split.

A1A Ale Works has the best shrimp and grits dish. We try a new and different restaurant each Sunday and the shrimp and grits dish at first thought did not sound like a good combination but it was so delicious, I can not wait to go back! I will not be able to try anything else on the menu because it is so good! The view is spectacular, except for the bridge construction and the service is on their toes. Good job! I recommend A1A Ale Works to everyone. It is an excellent place for a romantic dinner as well as a business luncheon.

This is a great restaurant if you want casual dining with a welcoming atmosphere. This restaurant was quite lively as my husband and I arrived into St. Augustine a bit late in the evening. My husband is a beer connoisseur and he thought their selection was pretty good. The food was good for its price (around $15-18). We had the paella for two and while the rice and lobster was great, the paella was a bit over soupy. Overall, I'd recommend this to couples and family. The balcony is great. However, I wouldn't suggest it for fine dining or special occasions.

Pros: lively atmosphere, price, beer
Cons: average food quality
The food was expensive for a bar atmosphere, but it was a good location for pedestrains walking in the historical area. Porch overlooked the bayfront. Service was good. Great for groups. Inside was too loud for quiet conversations.

Pros: Location, beer
Cons: Price for food
The atmosphere is nice especially on the Balcony - the Food is good - but please do not waste your money on the Drinks especially the Martini drinks - order the Beer - they are fresh and you know what's in them...

My family and I stayed in St. Augustine for a night and couldn't decide where to eat. Somehow we stumbled on A1A Ale Works, and were quite pleased with our decision. This isn't to say that A1A is a fantastic restaurant for all occasions, but it definitely worked for our needs -- variety of food selection and not too expensive. I felt the prices were a little high for a brew pub in Florida (most entrees were between $15-$18), but they do a great job of adding subtle new twists to old favorites.

Pros: Good Food, Good Service
Cons: Noisy, Pricey
The A1A Ale house is a fine place to eat. It has a casual atmosphere and super friendly staff. Their Ragtime Coconut Shrimp are excellant. Our meal was very good and when it came time for dessert, WOW!! We ordered the Fried Custard with a butter rum sause. It came with two large squares of custard that was crunchy on the outside and smooth on the inside. The butter rum sause was good enough to lick the plate (but we did not) A friendly and tasty place to visit.
