I went to Plant in the 1990's when the principle was a good decent man. I live near Plant now and the problems are endless. Massive student overpopulation, illegal parking on city streets blocking private taxpayer driveways, speeding by students, parents & teachers, drugs, skippers, and an administration that just doesn't care. The principle does nothing about the "skippers" who smoke pot and hang-out in the neighborhood streets surrounding Plant. It's a widely known fact that he is only interested in students that have celebrity parents and parents that might be able to further his career. So many kids are falling through the cracks because of this horrific administration with an unqualified leader. The kids who now attend Plant are from Clearwater, Brandon, St. Pete, Avalon, etc. The massive student overcrowding is due to massive special assignments the principle encourages. This not only hurts the community, but also realtors, students, and neighbors. I hope someone does move Mr. Nelson up into another position so we can get a professional, competent principle into Plant to fix ALL of the issues he has created or allowed to exist.

Pros: Great for the kids with rich or celebrity parents

Cons: BAD for everyone else

They are an A rated school district for a reason. If you can't afford private school, Plant is the way to go. Located in one of the best neighborhoods of South Tampa and with always top notch teachers - if your kids can't learn at Plant - they don't want to! Always rated in the National and state rankins for all subjects.
