I found a new family member here. I was looking for a dog that needed a good home and thought going to an animal shelter was my only option as that they get them in all the time. I would love to have taken them all but I fell in love with one dog more then all of them. He was sweet and kissed on me and was just all in general a well behaved dog. They all looked really healthy.

Sarasota has one of the best Humane Society shelters I've encountered and it's run by high-quality staff and volunteers. No matter what time of day I've visited, the area has smelled and looked clean. The animals are healthy and well-cared for. Staff or volunteers take each dog out at least once a day and spend as much time as possible with those who might need some extra attention in order to be more adoptable. Best of all the Humane Society offers several basic obedience courses in an effort to ensure the animals adopted from their shelter remain in their new homes.
