We are locals to the Siesta Key area and we decided to try our luck with the Old Salty Dog since we had family in town. I strongly suggest NO ONE to waste their time and money in this establishment. We started out with the worst waitress that I can honestly say we have ever had. Then my husband went to order the crab cakes and the waitress informed us that the crab meat was immitation crab. Typically you expect beach restaurants to serve you real crab meat, but that was about the only thing we appreciated from our waitress. As we waited for our food we heard other guest around us saying that their food was burnt, that should have been our hint to get up and run, but we hung around with hopes of good food. Our food arrived, I had ordered a plain and simple grilled cheese sandwich... Burnt. As I was eating my fries, I ended up pulling a piece of hair out of my fry that was cooked into it. We informed the waitress, but she decided to let us know that it probably was blown into my food from the air above us. Never asked if I wanted a fresh batch of fries or any refund for the fries. The overall experience was horrible. And for all parents with toddlers that are wanting to eat here, the only foods available for your toddler is fried baskets of food or a PB&J which most parents would never give to a toddler. Unfortunatley the Old Salty Dog was not aware that we were locals, but we will be informing friends and family to stay far away from this place. All I can say is lunch here is awful and I would suggest you take your money down to the Daquari Deck. That has been our spot and after today it will continue to be.

The patio at Old Salty Dog is very nice, cute with the dog dishes and dog friendly atmosphere. They have TV's out on the patio. It's a great location to stop after a day at the beach. Good food.

Now for Sarasota this place is cool, and for Siesta Key this place is still at the top, towards the end of the western side. The place has great a dinning area, bar, and patio. They always have the sports games on. Menu is good and simple, clam strips to crab they have it all. Patio is dog pet friendly.

Fabulous grouper sandwiches that you can wash down with an ice cold beer. Full bar available. Nice spot to dine after the beach. Limited menu, but reasonably priced.
