We used to LOVE this place when they first opened. They had great salsa and chips, attentive and pleasant waitstaff and decent prices for good food. Over the years, we've continued to visit Zapata's about every 3 months - we save up for these dinners because my husband is out of work and I am finishing school. My husband had a craving last night for Zapata's fried ice cream - which has always been a highlight of our meals there. We didn't want to sit, so we ordered take out - an appetizer, two dinners and, of course, the fried ice cream. We waited 45 minutes for the take out to be ready - it was a busy Friday night, but that's a bit ridiculous. They did not give us our fried ice cream, which we thankfully noticed before we left the parking lot. I ran back in to grab it, but the hostess was unable to help and the waitress who took the order - who we tipped, because we knew she would get taxed the bill, even though she did nothing to assist - ignored the situation completely. I asked the hostess twice to just refund me for the dessert, since the rest of our food was getting cold and by that time, it had been an hour since we ordered and we wanted to go home - hence the TO GO order. At home, we realized the fillings in the dinners were wrong, the appetizer was crushed, and the ice cream had not been fried. Our trips to Zapata's have been getting progressively worse over the last few years and after last night, we will not be going back nor will we be recommending them to anyone - something we used to do often. What a shame.

We were looking for a place for a late lunch and not being from the area we decided that we would try here because of the outside of the building. Only thing is when we pulled into the parking lot there were no cars in it. We were unsure but decided to give it a try. WOW! We were all(5 of us) suprised to say the least. The only complaint we had was that there was just too much food. We all ended up bringing home a doggie bag.

We love Zapatas. My wife and I, along with our family and friends eat there around once a week. The Acopulco Chicken is amazing. It's very close to our home, and it's genuine Mexican food! They do allow you to get reservations for groups of 5 or more, so it's really convenient for all of us. Why are you still reading this, go eat!

Zapatas border Cafe is on US 1 near Kitterman Road in Port Saint Lucie FL. They have the most excellent Tex Mex food in a very relaxing casual atmosphere. The prices are pretty reasonable, especially at lunch time and at the early dinner times. If you go in on your birthday and let them know it is your birthday they will bring you a comp order of fried ice cream and the wait person will sing Happy Birthday to you.
