I would say this restaurant was the worst dining experience I have had in years! The waitress was rude. She took forever to take our orders and then brought out an obviously wrong drink and blamed the bartender. Our sushi appetizer came

I visited today (5/24/10) for sunday brunch. I was not impressed with the spread of food and even less impressed with the service. The waiters and the station staff are indifferent about their job, they do not deliver good customer service and act put out when you ask for service. The food is anything you can put out yourself at home if you are into entertaining. And if you do not live in clearwater (as I don't), it is definitely not worth the drive going there. My vote is Two thumbs down, way down. It is amazing that people keep going to this place when the service is sooooooooooooo bad!

Pros: Only $21 for sunday brunch

Cons: Terrible service

We were there tonight for a party. The food is consistently wonderful, the service is awful. Rude and act as if they're being put out to get things.

Shame shame shame.

Food is good, not great. If something says "MARKET PRICE" , be sure what to ask what the price is. We paid $40 for Florida lobster, in Florida, during Lobster season with a side of mashed potatoes and house plant leaf. Definitely not a quiet night out for dinner, the restaurant is extremely loud even if only slightly crowded the acoustics are so bad that you can barely have a conversation without yelling. Service was mediocre at best. Maybe Bob was just having a bad night, but we had to wait and wait and wait for everything and he never anticipated our needs. Would I recommend this place to a friend? Probably not.

Pros: The restaurant has really nice decor and friendly hostesses.

Cons: Everything else.

Whether you order sushi, cooked seafood or steak, the food is delicious. Located on the water, the outside seating provides a relaxing atmosphere. Inside dining is a bit noisy and tables are too close together. I recommend sitting outside, weather permitting.

This up-scale restaurant is located directly on the Intercoastal! It is a romantic restaurant, which also has outdoor seating available with spectacular sunset views. My boyfriend ordered the Alaskan King Crab Legs which were excellent and I ordered the Island Grilled Chicken which was just as good. We drank martinis and had a great time. The place is beautiful inside and out. The staff very courteous.

I visit the Clearwater area about 5 times a year for work. This place used to be a staple when I came to the area. However the quality of the food and service has become lax and I think they rely too much on reputation than the product they offer.

I dined here last weekend for what I am going to assume is the last time. Every since last October, I have not had a good experience here. We decided to have an early dinner to avoid any crowds. Parked the cars in valet and was greeted by a young hostess who looked at us as it was going to be a hassle to walk us to the table. The waiter approach quickly but seemed rushed. He asked if we could get us anything from the wine menu, but we declined at the time, as we wanted to see what we were to order first. But ordered a round of soft drinks to start. He rolled his eyes and started to walk away, but a colleague of mine stopped him as he wanted to order some sushi for the table. He brought the drinks and said the sushi would be a few minutes and proceded to take our order. He methodically worked his way around the table. Our sushi arrived and it was not as fresh as i would like. The flesh was not as firm as I am used to, this tells me it is an older cut. We waited a bit for this to get cleared off as the wait staff spent most of their time visiting with each other by the sushi bar. Had the salad, which is still good. The waiter cleared the corse and quickly ran away, which is a shame because we had decided which wines we would be having, oh well, we stuck with soda. The entrees had with mixed reviews, My scallops were overcooked with too much salt and a bitter tasting sauce. The grilled grouper was undercooked. The steak looked good though. As we were paying, we put our valet tickets on the corner of the table so the waiter could have our cars pulled up but he overlooked this and we waited in the heat as we finish our less than desirable experience. Next time I'm in the area, I will not be returning.

Upscale restaurant with excellent steaks and a beautiful setting. The sunday morning buffet is excellent - start off with a mimosa and coffee - excellent omelets and plenty of fresh fruit.

Great Restaurant. I travel alot and eat at some of the best restaurants in the country as I was very impressed with Island Grill. Five of us eat there including 2 children. We had a reservation and were sat as soon as we walked in. Very impressed that they had a childrens surf and turf on the menu. Waiter was great. As soon as he brought drinks they has a power cut. The whole of clearwater beach was out. The waiter recommended that we order sushi and cold apps first and then moved as outside so not to be over come by the heat. We happened to pick on of the hottest days to eat!..We sat ourside..had great French wine..oysters, shrimp and sushi. Get the Island way roll..very good..we had two..The waiter kept us updated on the power situation and was wonderful. When the power came on we orders, lamb, the seafood mix grill, steak, lobster and King crab..What can I say we hadnt eaten all day. The food was incredible..the washi mash potatoes are awesome..I had the kona lamb and it was to die for..definately will go their again. Dont waste your money on Ruth's, the Palms or Shula's..This place is great!

If you are looking for that fine dine seafood place with their own wine cellar and tropical yet classy ambience, then you have found the right place. I love going here for the romantic and modern restaurant that is near the beach and also over looks the water. They also have outdoor seating that is on the water. The food here is the best seafood and steak I have ever had while dining on the beach. You will enjoy this place for any special occasions and also for most holidays. They have special menu's that are great for the whole family. You also would enjoy the Sunday brunch, which is buffet style with food that is out of this world, from peel and eat shrimp, sushi, your traditional breakfast foods, eggs benedict, and fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, and endless desserts and so much more. You also get one free glass of champagne or mimosas with the brunch. I would highly recommend this place to everyone!!!

Definitely one of the most *spirited* upscale dining experiences you'll encounter, but if you know that ahead of time, just go and have fun. You'll find that it only takes a few minutes for the "noise" to fade into the background and you can just enjoy your party. I would still recommend this for a romantic spot, because the sunset views are gorgeous, but definitely try for a window seat. On the downside, we've never had great service here and yet we return again and again -- that's a testament to the food, which is unbelievably good. Splurge and try the king crab and lobster, though the steaks are delicious too.

Waiter with attitude and scallops I could use as hockey pucks in a noisy room. Not my idea of a good time.

A really lovely place to go for a special occasion. The food was a little pricey, but was absolutely delicious with lovely presentation. Service was excellent. Lovely atmosphere with outside dining. Inside dining was noisy and there were alot of tables very close together which made it a little too close for my comfort. But overall it was a fabulous experience.

I can handle background noise and am NOT picky at all, but this was the loudest restaraunt I have been to in recent memory. The 4 of us at our table had to SHOUT the entire meal to hear each other. It was so loud because of the diners being so close together, the music and all the talking. The floors are all tile and hardwood and no matter how good the food is, just too loud of a place to eat. The food was good, but for the prices, I would want to be able to talk while I was eating. I won't eat there again.
Very disappointed.

The only good dining experiences I have had here are at the bar while being waited on by Ker. He is one of the best bartenders in the area and takes great care of his guests. I have had dinner on the patio several times but the food is average and the service is lacking. If you go, have sushi at the bar and make sure Ker is working. He'll take care of you.

PROS: Sushi, Ker, sunsets
CONS: food, service

We had a reservation but still waited 1 hour at the bar before being seated. It was our 10th year anniversary so we were assured we'd get a romantic seat and it would be worth the wait. Wait staff and bar staff very snooty. It was difficult to get a drink at the bar, we waited about 20 mins before placing our order, and the wine prices are OUTRAGEOUS! The glasses were dirty w/food and lipstick on them, the wine had cork in it and was $12/glass. The restaurant is like a cafeteria and the seating is very tight. We had to shout to be heard. Unfortunately it was NOT ROMANTIC like the review or hostess stated. If you want to wait for an overly priced, overly salted dinner, served on dirty plates and glasses by snotty staff this is your place.

I was vacationing in Clearwater Beach and I asked the concierge if he could reccomend a good seafood restaurant. I was rewarded with the superior food and service at The Island Way Grill. Everything exceeded my expectations. I was welcomed by a warm, romantic, inviting atmosphere. The staff was knowlegeable and courteous. The filet was the best I'd ever tasted! I highly reccomend the wasabi potatoes. From start to finish it was a highly enjoyable meal. I plan to return the next chance I get. 5 stars!!!

Our first experience was incredible. It was on a Sunday evening, so it wasn't very crowded. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar, by ourselves and for 5 hours, had the best time with the bartender entertaining us the whole time. The sushi was fantastic. The whole time your looking out the window at Clearwater Beach. Nice place...good memory!

The fish entrees are excellent. Even the steak is pretty good. However, I would avoid the sushi bar. The sushi is just okay and with the great seafood selection I wouldn't waste your time on the raw stuff. The waitstaff is great. They gave me a side salad eventhough my meal didn't come with one since the rest of the table had them. Great service.
