Dr. Jacinto changed our lives. My daughter was eventually diagnosed by Dr. J with a seizure disorder and his confidence and expertise was a welcome change from all of the other doctors we visited. I continued on the quest to figure out what was wrong, while other doctors and pediatric neurologists minimalized her condition as an exaggerated startle reflex. As her mother, I knew there was more. Dr. J looked at her and he knew immediatley. He took us into the next room immediatley hooked her up to an EEG and read the test as it was being conducted himself. Within a few minutes we had a formal diagnosis and sat with him for a plan of care. As a scared mother, in tears, he did tell me the truth. There was NO sugar coating, but this is exactly what I needed. He explained the seizure disorder to me at length, he explained her care at length and we left there with hope and understanding. Over the next few months her medication gave us difficulty, he treated her aggresively and with confidence and grace. I trust him implicitly. I am happy to say that he has been able to work her meds to a seizure free status. We remained there for two years when he weaned her from her meds. I was terrified to wean her, afraid of the possibility of her seizing again. He had my trust and still does to this day as she remains seizure free. Dr. J is an incredible physician and man. His professionalism and care is nothing but superb. If waiting an extra 10 or 15 minutes keeps you from this physician you are doing your child an injustice. As you wait, he is hugging another mom and her child explaining the care, perhaps even celebrating the fact that that child remains well! Just as someone else may wait while you are getting information that is life changing. I cannot express my gratitude to Dr. J and his staff for making us part of his family, for giving my baby the life she deserves to live and for all he does for everyone elses children as well. This man is my hero.

I tried to get my daughter, who is autistic, into this office and they gave me every reason not to see her. He is a pediatric neurologist! I've done everything to get her in. I then had to take my son there to be checked for behavior issues. The staff was very rude. They never made eye contact. I waited in the lobby, which was disgusting, for 2 hours! It took me almost 3 hours to leave the office in total. Most of it was waiting. The "doctor" came in, never introduced himself, never made eye contact, and just took a glance at my son. He was very cocky and was out of the room within 5 minutes. I'm glad they couldn't get my daughter in now because it would have been a waist of time!

I have never met a doctor as rude and full of himself. I left his office in tears. He did not want to look at any of my sons medical history. He told me that my son is on the low spectrum of Autism and that all his doctors are wrong with there thoughts on my son. He met my son for five mins and knows everything about him?? I was very disgusted with Dr. Jacinto and would never recommend him to anyone.

after the horror story my wife told me about a particular appointment with dr jacinto I decided to do a little research of my own and found this site while I don't disagree that he is probably a very good dr. I know for a fact he is scum as a person what happened with my wife I can not share at this time per our attorney but I can share that he has an arrest record in Miami Florida for larceny or theft when he was younger but I will keep you updated after we decide where to go with this case

I am going to try and express my experience here without losing focus on the issue. We arrived approximately 10 minutes early for my son's appointment, being a new patient I expected that there would be paperwork to fill out but was greeted with a closed, frosted glass window and a sign expressing " we can see you, sign in and sit down". I complied with the sign and after placing my name on the list I sat down and waited. The staff laughed and giggles for a while as I watched our appointment time pass... after approximately 25 minutes past our appointment time the receptionist finally acknowledged the sheet called me up and asked if I had filled out the paperwork. I explained that no one had provided any and was given a clipboard with several sheets. I completed the paperwork and returned it to the desk. After that time we waited another 20 minutes in one of the dirtiest waiting rooms I have ever experienced (and yes I have seen plenty including across the globe). We were finally called back and given a seat in a treatment room and waited another 20-30 minutes... The doctor came in (Jacinto) and the only reason we knew it was him was due to the numerous pictures on the wall of the same man that came in (no he did not introduce himself at all). He was uninformative and any and all information he had to share appeared to be constructed. His "bedside manner" was very rigid and seemed without concern. We caught him several times standing over my wife as she sat with my son and instead of evaluating my child he was looking down my wife's shirt as she held our baby... I retained what bit of composure that I could at that time and tried to pass it off as my male attitude observing things that were not happening until he did it again and again, to the point my wife stopped and yanked up her undershirt almost the top of her neck to get this unprofessional man to start paying attention to our son. After his "under his breath" opinion was given he stated that they needed more testing and abruptly walked out... We interacted with him one final time before leaving and it was just as quick as the first callous introduction. I have unfortunately been witness and assistant to numerous medical doctors over my 20+ years in the work force and this experience ranks up at the top with overall worst. If you have a choice, avoid making an appointment with this "doctor" and choose another.

Dr. Jacinto saved my son's quality of life. Five years ago, at 4 months old, my son was diagnosed with Infantile Spasms, a degenerative form of epilepsy. The first doctor we saw in the hospital used all technical terms and made no sense at all. Dr. Jacinto came in on Christmas Eve, sat down with us, and laid it out flat- the worst case scenario was that he would never mentally progress, and best case is that he would recover completely, but we needed to expect something in the middle. It was hard to hear, but we felt better knowing what was going on, for the first time in days. Dr. Jacinto and his ARNP, Courtney, worked their magic, and my son's seizures stopped after three weeks, and he was off the medication completely by the time he was 16 months old. He is now five years old, reading, and advanced for his age. I owe that to God, and to the care of Dr. Jacinto and his staff.

I wish I had taken the time to read these reviews before I took my daughter to see Dr Jacinto. He is very unproffesional and should be shut down for sexual harrasment!! Some others have complained about how short their appts were with him. Well let me tell you, If you are attractive then he will spend all the time in the world with you! Isnt he married??? What a pervert!

I've read all the comments about his bedside manner, office staff, horror stories etc..
First, as hard as it is to take your child to a specialist of his caliber for whatever reason, you're there because he was recommended as a top shelf professional. Suck it up! , he's not there to diagnose or coddle YOU. The man has devoted his life to his profession. I certainly appreciate the fact that he does not and will not sugar-coat anything! Concise and to the point, Isn't that what professionalism is? My Wife and I met with Dr Jacinto twice a day for 7 days in the pediatric ICU @ St Joes with our son and if I was ever put in that postion again, Dr Jacinto is the man I would want on the case, bar none..
As far as the staff goes, thats correct, good folks are hard to come by. My experience is, they are true professionals. Don't be rude to them.
When was the last time you went to a/the Dr (for yourself) and walked right in to the exam room at the scheduled appt time? You wait, because the person in front of you is getting the neccessary attention that YOU would expect...
I am very thankful to have met Dr Jacinto in my time of need.

This Neurologist is the best in Tampa. He is a very caring and understanding Doctor and treats each child to the own special need. Very thorough and knowledgable is each need . I would reccomend him to any and everybod with a child with special needs. Absolutely Awesome!!! Has cared for 3 out of my 6 children. As far as the comments regarding his bedside manner--all I can say when you are as good as he is at what he does you can be arrogent and get away with it. He is only that way when you pose to know his job better than him. He is still GREAT at what he does and is simply the best. So over look the little things and get the best care possible for your child with great accuracy and diligence.

While I do agree with the comments made here about Dr. Jacinto's lack of courtesy and bedside manner I would still rate him a perfect 10 as a physician. I have had my 15 year old son Jordan at multiple Neurologists and he is the first one to correctly diagnose him with the myriad of problems he has. I found him to be rude, blunt and abrasive but I don't care about that. I'll take a rude doctor who rates a perfect 10 in ability any day over a nice warm and fuzzy doctor who sucks at his job. I agree with the comment someone made that he is Brandon's answer to Dr. House. He should take that as a compliment.

We saw Dr. Jacinto for the first time this morning. I was nervous after reading such negative reviews and hearing that he had no bedside manner. I did have a good recommendation from our pediatrician and a friend, so we went ahead with our appointment. I could have not been more pleased. He was very thorough in his exam of my child and treated us both with courtesy and respect. We both left feeling great about our experience and would definitely recommend him. Maybe others do not agree, but I appreciate a doctor that will give me the facts exactly as he or she sees them. You're not paying the doctor to give you the warm fuzzies. You're paying him to give you the most accurate diagnosis possible so that you can be an advocate for your child. Wishy washy doctors are not good doctors. Decisive, confident doctors are good doctors. Also, since I saw some other criticisms here about wait time and staff, we were in and out of the office (including filling out paperwork) in 30 minutes, and the staff was very nice to us.

Not to dispute anyone here, but when I read these reviews, I can't believe we're talking about the same Dr. In my personal opinion, Dr. J is the best of the best. My daughter has been his patient for almost 14 years. I have never experienced anything but the utmost respect, patience, treatment and care. I almost feel like he's family. His staff has always been professional. His office has always been extremely clean and very child friendly. He has always returned my calls promptly and I feel he goes above and beyond. What one might see as "rude" may just be his directness, which I appreciate. He doesn't sugar coat anything, but I certainly don't find him harsh either. I could probably write a book on how much my family loves and respects this doctor. I have him to thank for giving my daughter the best care she could receive and I don't know what we would have ever done without him. If you've only been to see him once, give him another try, like I said, he's very direct, but not rude. Sometimes the first time seeing a doctor, ESPECIALLY when a child is involved, and it's usually something serious or traumatic when a pedi neurologist is involved, we are in a very different frame of mind than we would be on a regular visit. Good luck to all of you and your children.

I have had the need of a pediatric Neruologist twice in my life. Once when my son was in a bad car accident and had horrible head trauma and the other is my daughter with migraines. My daughter now sees Dr Jacinto and although I have only seen him once I found him nice enough. Neruologist on a whole have a very high personal opinion of themselves. It's just the way they are. The wait in a specialist office no matter the kind is always longger then in any other office and I like to believe that is because he is giving each patient the best care possible. The question is does he care about and help children and I believe the answer is yes. Not everyone is going toget along with every doctor so if you weren't satified them move on and find someone else. As for me for the time being I'm staying where I am.

Dr. Jacinto misdiagnosed my daughter with a stroke 5 years ago when she was a newborn. When he was dicussing his diagnosis he talked to me so rudely. I'm sitting in a conference room crying my eyes out because he said she was going to die and to start making arrangments then he and gets up a leaves me there all alone and distraught. Crappy bedside manner. My husband and I did our research about stookes and brain stems and none matched my daughters symtoms. When we asked him about it he blew if off as nothing. We had our daughter transferred immediatly to All Childrens St.Pete. and to find out that she DID NOT have a stroke and was going to fine!!!! In her discharge papers is said my husband and could not accept her dignosis. Dr Jacinto and Brandon Reginol Hospital should be shut down!!!!!!!

There is seriously something wrong with an office that has so many people waiting at the same time, and you have to wait an hour just to see the doctor, only to be spoken to so rudely. I do not recommend this doctor. The staff is rude also.

I couldn't ask for a better Dr. for my son. He explained everything I needed to know in detail to take care of my son when he has a seizure. Although I am moving & have to find another Dr for my son. I will never forget how he helped my son. Thank you.

If you really want to know why the wait is so long and the visits are so short its because your not attractive enough because if you were the visit would last much!!! longer and you would probably leave satisfied. I know from personal experience.

I just came from a visit to Dr. Jacinto. The staff was not the friendliest on the phone but they did smile and were very nice to me . They didn't seem to be bugged by my questions and the Dr. was very nice to my son. He is a little rough but not rude. He is Latin after all so he has a strong personality but nothing that would offend me. Overall I thought the experience was great. I will use his services in the future and yes I had to wait a little but it wasn't hours. I was in and out in hour and half and that's including filling out all the new patient papers and checking out. I was very concerned after reading some of the reviews here but I'm glad I gave him a chance.

I have been seeing Dr. Jacinto since I was 15 years old that's when I had my first seizure. Since my first visit we hit it off, while I was scared out of my mind he calmed me down and explained exactly what was happening to me. I am now 21 and still continue to see him because I don't trust anyone else. All the other doctors I saw were like "mmhmm" or "I see" Doctor J is the complete opposite he will listen to you then take notes later on it. If you lie sports and a doctor with a great sense of humor then this is the man to see!! Whoever says they don't like him are up-tight parents who think there children are perfect the way they are, which in some cases is true but when you have an illness with your head and are scared out of your ever-lovin mind then go see the Dr. Jacinto!

My pediatrician recommended Dr. Jacinto to evaluate my son for ADHD. Like many others have reported the wait was long. When we finally met him he was very brusque and sarcastic, not warm, seemed kind of bored to be honest. He basically accused my son of being a 'slacker" in school. ran a bunch of tests, and told us to see a psychologist and have teachers fill out paperwork. When we went back for the results we saw Courtney (after a 2 hour wait) and she was flat out rude!! The staff is also indifferent and was rude on the phone when I called about an insurance/billing issue. needless to say, i have never been to a physicians practice that was so rude, indifferent and dysfunctional. No bedside manner or people skills whatsoever!! I would not recommend any parent to subject their kids to this guy or his staff.

I took my son to see Dr.Jacinto after he was evaluated by a pediatric psychologist for 2 years and his pediatrician since birth. He had been diagnosed with ADHD and a mood disorder 2 years prior to that. The other physicians were convinced there was some kind of neurological issue going on so the appt was scheduled. I verified with the doctors office that my insurance was accepted on more than one occasion due to the fact that my husband had lost his job and we could not afford any extra bills. They assured me they accepted the insurance and I also gave them the ID numbers. The day of the appt arrived and we waited for 2 hours which is to be expected at a specialists office...when we met Dr.Jacinto he was very terse, he did not smile or even say nice to meet you. I gave him reports from the school so he could see the type of behavior my son exhibited and he read over it for a minute and then told my son that "this is horrible and if you went to my child's school I would have you kicked out"...At that point my son just shut down and I had to do to everything to keep myself from crying! I took my son for an evaluation! We were well aware of his behavior issues and he already felt horrible about it and then for the doctor to make my child feel the way he did was completely UNACCEPTABLE! He told me that my son has no neurological issue and just needs to see a psychiatrist...At that point I informed the school what happened, he did see a psychiatrist...I finally listened to my gut and took him for a 2nd opinion to a fabulous pediatric neurologist that looked at all of the information I provided to her from the school and myself and she was able to provide a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome! Every issue my son exhibits is text book Asperger's. I feel if Dr.Jacinto had been a "better physician" for lack of a better term, this could have been addressed with much earlier! My son does not comprehend certain social aspects of things and Dr.Jacinto made me feel like my son just did not care and was a basket-case! I have told many people what happened to us so they do not put their child through this kind of mental abuse. I ended up getting a $500 bill from the office because they informed me I have a "very special" insurance plan and they do not accept it 2 months after the appt. I have mailed and faxed several letters to Dr.Jacinto asking if he could please reduce or waive the price because I had been informed they accepted my insurance on more than one occasion and my husband had lost his job and I have not gotten a response except for more bills from his office....I work for a doctor and in situations like this he always waives the payment when a mistake like that is made by the office staff not doing their job properly.

I have seen Dr Jacinto for 3 years. Last visit I had with him was disapointing. He said that there was nothing wrong with my son. He is not ADHD or Bipolar he just has a bad behavior and he just need to be in a home for that. Meanwhile Dr Jacinto had my son in different medications. That makes you wonder what kind of physician he is... I took my son for a second opinio and he does has ADHD and OCD. He is on medication and teacher notice the difference. So Dr Jacinto is NOT A GOOD Physician to me!!!

when the doctor tells you that your son will not get better and will remain a zombie and that his office cannot do anything for you, its disheartening. After being told what a wonderful and caring doctor he is, but yet for the last several visits has seen my son for a total of maybe 1 minute because he has been seen by the PA, thats not having him for a doctor. He is Brandon's answer to Dr House. Not recommending him and not taking my son back.

We have been seeing Dr. Jacinto for about 5 years now for my son's ADHD. On our first meeting with Dr J, my impression of him was very negative. After wating 2 1/2 hours to see him, he was very curt and almost rude. However, after seeing him this many years I have come to realize that you will always wait a long time to see him and when you do, you need to have your questions written out, etc. because no, he is not going to take a long time with you...he is short and to the point. If you see the PA, you are in good shape, which is most of the time, because she is always on time, very nice, great personality and balances out the practice. The office staff does leave something to be desired, but good help in the medical office world seems to be hard to find these days pretty much everywhere you go.

I took my son for his initial visit & was very disappointed that I waited (along with many other families) in the waiting room for 1 hour and 45 minutes to then be seen primarily by the nurse practitioner before seeing the Dr. for hmm..maybe 15 minutes tops. I had so many more concerns and questions that were not addressed and I felt as if my son's condition wasn't perhaps "serious" enough to warrant more time with the actual physician. I understand that he was behind that day....but that means he's going to stay behind for the rest of his day if he has new patients. You shouldn't play "catch up" on your time with new patients. Returning patients would be more understanding of this..at least I would think so. The NP was great but I believe an initial visit should be handled by the physician. I heard that this was a very good Dr.. so I'm sure he is; however, the apparent lack of respect for my time and concerns was upsetting. I'm rating Satisfactory because I feel like he probably is a good Dr., however, I did leave unsatisfied.

I found Dr. Jacinto to be a very caring and cutting edge physician. He inspired trust in me quickly regarding my son who was diagnosed with PDD. His office staff, sadly, are another matter. They promised to call back with time sensitive information regarding my son. I had to call back multiple times over a four week period then was treated rudely and basically told that the office staff had not even tried to get the information from my son's medical file that I needed for him to continue state-funded speech therapy. When I asked to speak to Dr. Jacinto personally she refused to put him on the phone. I feel that he isn't aware of his staff's improper treatment of his clients. The office appears to be disorganized and untrained in customer service. This is sad because the physician is topnotch but his inadequate offfice staff reflects poorly on them all.

Though my daughter has a rare chromosome disorder which causes most to discount her; Dr. Jacinto has given her chance possible and treats her well. He kept trying different seizure medications for her until finding the right one. She's been seizure free for over 2 years and he gradually weaned her off all the medications . He is always willing to answer questions and returns our phone calls personally within the business day. he has even stopped by to visit Lois while hospitalized when it was something totally unrelated to her seizure/neurologic condition.

Lacks courtesy and respect and does not treat the patient as he would his own child. Returns calls late (up to 3 days) and makes you feel as if you are bothering him. Waited 2 1/2 hrs to see him, he did not get all the results I needed and was sending me to repeat tests that results had not been faxed to him on. Would never reccomend this doctor, I am very sorry to say. It is sad for the children, they are there because they have a problem and this guy has no people skills, and his office is poorly organized.

When my son had Guillan Barre' Syndrome, he spent two months in the PICU at Tampa General Hospital. His pediatric neurologist was Dr. Sergio Jacinto (who has two office locations, Brandon and Tampa. Dr. Jacinto was very reassuring regarding my son's condition and knew how to make my son feel comfortable even though he was in a life and death situation. If you unfortuantely ever need a pediatric neurologist, look up Dr. Sergio Jacinto. He really cares about children.
