Less than 7 months ago, I encountered all the warning signs of a bad rack & pinion steering gear. I'm the original owner of a 1989 BMW and have kept it meticulously maintained, using the same brilliant and seasoned mechanic for all those years until recently relocating to FL. I took my car to Eurotech, knowing exactly what was wrong. Having been a Corporate Mgr with a Fortune 500 Automotive OE supplier, TRW, I know more than most about diagnosing problems, specifically rack & pinion steering gears, as this was one of my major product lines. It took over a week, because they "kept finding problems" but told me my r&p steering was not one of them. $4000 later I drove my car home, noticing that I still had the same steering problems. Parked overnight, I found leaking steering fluid. The next day I took my car back, and, lo & behold my r&p bellows are swollen with fluid: all of a sudden that r&p I didn't need was a necessity. Another week of my car in the shop goes by & I get a call from Eurotech: your steering column is broken. I told them it wasn't broken when I drove it in, that they had broken it so they should pay for it. They said, no dice. I said I'd never heard of such a thing happening and they said it happens all the time in FL. My mechanic up north hasn't heard of such a thing, either. But, I'm stuck: they've broken my car & it has to be fixed. Another $2000 - now we're at $6000, more than I've spent in the 21 years I've owned the car! I figure that should last me a while. WRONG!!
Today I took my car to a REPUTABLE tire shop and find out that one of the inner ends of my 7-month-old r&p is bad. An inner end breaking after only 1000 miles is not right. Screwed by Eurotech again. I let the seasoned pros at Gator Tire do the repairs this time.

Pros: None

Cons: They don't listen to their customers

Dropped of my car on a Friday morning between 8-9am. They asked,"are you waiting on the vehicle," and I told them I was dropping it off. They called me later that morning and told me the items I needed to fix. They never told me a pickup time and never called back to tell me I was going to be without a vehicle for the weekend because they were closed on Sat and Sun. I called them back Monday morning and they informed us that the radiator had a leak, however, I never had any leaks or overheating issues with my radiator. They said it just "broke off" when they went to remove it after they noticed a hairline crack in the upper connector. On Tuesday, we were told the car would be ready at 5pm. We arrived at 5pm and waited until 6pm. Drove it home only to find another issue. Returned it on Wednesday and spoke to James (owner). James knows what he is doing but I don't know if everyone else working there does. We waited on the car from 9am Wednesday until close(6pm). Drove home only to have the battery light flicker on and off which means the battery is not charging from the alternator. I called Eurotech and they said to bring it back in (again). I went to swap out my alternator the next day (myself) after my car would not start and found out the cable/bolt running to the alternator was loose causing a spark/fire where the plastic bolt cover melted off. I tightened the bolt, charged the battery, and the car has ran fine ever since. I don't know if it was intentional or they just forgot to check everything going back together. I also found a dry rotted vacuum hose that they didn't find during their inspection that needed to be replaced. Took it in for an oil change and fix some leaks where I was expecting to pay $1300 and ended up paying $1400 more due to "other" problems. After all that, I was without a car for almost a week and they didn't even wash my car. If they would have communicated this to me, I would have rented a car. I would never recommend this place to someone else.

Pros: Cheaper than the dealer!

Cons: Communication

I took my car their after years of not having very reliable service on my car. Needless to say my car needed alot of work. They wrote a two page report on what my car needed and then another price list. They would call if anything came up unexpected, They were very thorough and knew the answers to all my questions. My car totally has been revived by this shop.
