GRISPOS GRAPPO IS GREAT

My buddy and I spent a week in Ybor City and spent at least 6 nights drinking at Gasprars Grispo. We had a great time except for the real live skunk that pissed behind the bar. The beer was very cold and my buddy kissed Whoopi Goldberg over there on the mouth. Their was a pimp that smelled like a bum that was changing his clothes in the restroom.

Gaspars is a great bar. It has the pirate theme that is very popular in the Ybor city area. A large pirate greets you on the way inside. They have a beautiful fish tank behind the bar with colorful fish to entertain the lonely bar crawler. They also have a large outside area, perfect for the certain times of the year when a large crowd is expected. They have tables and booths to sit and relax. Not too loud and crazy.

If you were only to visit one eating and drinking establishment in Florida this would have to be the one. It's super fun, it's inexpensive, it's real Tampa. Supposedly the menu was created by a famous chef. The food is fantastic. The bar staff is drop dead gorgeous and about as friendly as any I have found ANYWHERE. The best part is that this place is in the very center of Tampa's Historic Distric, Ybor City. So after a few pops you can walk up and down the main street and enjoy the sights. And there are some sights!
We had their PORK SHANK CHILE with some cold house beer named after a cat they used to have there. None better, no fooling there, and we do know our Chile in Texas. Like I told the Ol Lady," never go to a chain restaurant when your traveling unless you want chain restaurant food".
If it's wild, Zany and Fun they do it there at Gaspar's Grotto. Beer Pong, Beer olympics, pet friendly events. Bachelor Auctions, shoeshines, souvenirs, bike events.
My wife liked the place because it was super clean. She can't sit on a dirty can. How bout your's?I don't know how they keep a place that busy that spiffy?But they do.
I had my laptop so I got on their website. In itself, that's an adventure. I would recommend that.
Someone said they were building a hotel next door. I know where I'm staying next time we get over this way

Gaspar's Grotto, nothing but good.

I love Gaspar's. The staff is friendly and fun, also very good looking. The pirate theme puts you in the mood to have some fun. You can spend an hour looking at all the memorabilia and great pictures on the walls. If you look closely enough you'll find some very interesting and impressive facts about the owners. HINT..on the way to the patio. The patio is GREAT. Bands and lot's of space to get some fresh air. I just found out about a new menu with some scrumtious food. What more could you want.
Have a hearty bit of grog and grub at Gaspar's! You won't be disappointed.
Pros: Great bar, free parking on 7th Ave. Lot in back. Back door entrance.
Cons: Can't get there enough
