I want to thank Bahr's Propane Gas & A/C for all their help and patience while and before the installation of my new air conditioning unit. It's not easy for me to make decisions alone. Everyone that I dealt with- Jaime, Bob, Wayne and RD were very kind- Mr. Bahr, you can be proud of your business and staff. Bahr's has an excellent name in Zephyrhills. I just wanted you to know that I greatly appreciate everything you have done for me. Thank you.

When the time came to replace my antique A/C I solicited bids from three local companies. Bahr??s was the only company to address my unique sealed attic insulation in their calculation of the best size and product to both cool and heat my home. The sales technician was courteous and knowledgeable. He took the time to both listen and explain his product.
The installers followed suit with what I can only surmise to be a company attitude of caring, efficiency and consideration. The system is working beyond my expectations and I would recommend Bahr??s without reservation.

In 2003, we had a home built by Gary Steve. Bahr??s was selected by our builder for the ac installation in our home. We have a two story house that is approx. 2600 sq.ft. Within one month of moving into our new home, we had to have Bahr??s back out regarding dramatic temperature changes between the upstairs and downstairs. Long story-short....within one month of having them back out, these are all the changes that they made:

1. They swapped the unit for a bigger unit.
2. They added 2 small returns, one upstairs in our bedroom and one downstairs in our stair hall. The return that was added in our stair hall downstairs cut directly thru our upstairs hall closet, cutting our shelving literally in half. The duct work that runs thru that closet was never enclosed and to this day is still visible...a large silver duct is what you see when you open that closet.
3. They added a manual damper system.
4. They swapped the manual damper system with a electrical damper system and added another ac control panel in efforts of zoning off the upstairs from the downstairs.

After all these changes, our outrageous electric bills, and one year later, it was safe to say that we had ??had enough?? of Bahr??s attempts to fix our home. Unfortunately, our builder, Gary Steve, did not see the necessity of correcting his subs nor correcting the ac system that we clearly paid for in our building contract. After months of attempts, we ultimately had to contact a lawyer. Unfortunately, at that time, we were unaware of all the circumstances in our case. At that time, our lawyer advised us that it would be cheaper for us to just pay another contractor to come out and fix the problem then it would be to sue Bahr??s and Gary Steve for the damages. Again, unfortunately, just building a home, we did not have the extra $10,000.00 to put out again.

Five years later, we are still struggling with this ac unit and extremely high electric bills. This month, we received our electric bill from TECO for the month of December for a whopping $504.00. Astonishing, considering we barely used our ac unit in the month of December. Conti plating that we may have an electrical problem somewhere in the house, we hired two separate electricians to come out and thoroughly inspect the house. All reports were good and reported that there were no drags on the electric, but recommended that we contact a ac contractor to have our unit inspected.

WE DID! To no surprise, it IS our unit. Upon inspection, we were given a report.

1. Improper design for house.
2. Duck work not properly sized.
3. Damper System installed improperly and missing essential pieces.
4. Improper returns.
5. NO SECONDARY DRAIN INSTALLED.
6. NO FLOAT SWITCH INSTALLED.
7. Unit is lying/sitting on trusses.
Recommended Resolution:
1. Removing the one 5 ton ac unit and replacing it with a 3 ton unit for control of the downstairs and a 2 ton unit for control of the upstairs.
2. Correctly sizing the ducts.
3. Adding another return downstairs.
4. Installing secondary drain.
5. Installing a float switch.
6. Hanging the air handler.
7. Total costs approx. $13,000.00

Please pay special attention to #4-#6. These items are PER CODE and supposedly REQUIRED BY PASCO COUNTY in order to pass inspections.

It's little things like this that make me go hmmmmm!!! After realizing that the ac inspection should have NEVER passed inspections, I decided to obtain a copy of my Energy and Heat Load Calculations that my builder, Gary Steve, and Bahr's supplied to the county. After all the above, I assure you, that I was once again, AMAZED!

Lies, Lies and more Lies! I was informed that these calculations were pertinent in the process of obtaining a building permit. Funny thing is, all the specifications they listed on my 'calculations' were in no way close to what they actually installed. Apparently, they decided to just put whatever they wanted on the form in order to obtain the correct calculations.

Amazed, yes. I am appalled that my builder, Gary Steve, did not choose to hold his sub-contractors liable for there quality of workmanship. I am appalled that Bahr's would do such a botch job in my new home. AND last, I am appalled that the county failed to do there job and literally inspect my home instead of just walking thru and signing off.

A few years ago, we had Bahrs fill our 2 propane tanks at out trailer. Then we decided to go with a central air and heating system - electric. The compny that installed the new system, removed the old furnace and disconnected the 2 propane tanks. They told us to call for a refund on the full tank and partial on the partly-used tank (by weight), which we did. They came out, and CHARGED us to take away the tanks, and when we asked for the refund, they said "we don't do that"!!! I was so angry that I've told EVERYONE not to do business with this company, and I hope people will NOT call them.
