The view is unique and rather great but the place as a food establishment is just ok and for the price it is not remarkable. The view is worth bringing someone to but I would recommend light fair and drinks instead of a large meal.

This is a great place to go for a sunset glass of wine or two, but overall this is the definition of tourist trap: great location, gorgeous views, crap food, and overpriced. That said, I do go there for drinks every now and then for a change of pace.

I recently took a customer who was in town from Germany to this restaurant thinking the steaks, ambience and outdoor setting would be perfect. I was sorely mistaken. First our waiter seemed too busy chatting with another waiter to take our order. Secondly, the time it took to get our appetizers was very long, despite there being relatively few people in the restaurant. Third, I heard the waiters making disparaging comments about some of the other guests within earshot of those guests. Had the guests been paying attention I imagine they would have walked out. Fourth, the food was atrocious. You would think paying $40 a steak you would great terrific food. My "filet minion" cooked medium, looked exactly like charcoal or a space rock. My business partner's fish was undercooked and smelled like they found it in the trash, and the sirloin steak my customer got looked like road-kill. I noticed there were a lot of stray cats around the table too, which are probably fed from guests who want to get rid of their terrible meals. Fifth and most offensively, I tipped the waiter $35 and when I got my credit card bill yesterday, he had added another $10 to his tip and the bill!!! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! There is MUCH BETTER food to be had at Morton's in Miami or just about any other restaurant!!

I ate dinner here with my husband last night for our 5 year anniversary. Everything was great, little pricey, but we didn't mind because we NEVER go out. It was a nice surprise and i will definitely beg him to take me back.

Well my girls and i were in town from Los Angeles and we wanted a place to get drinks and apps before going out. Our concierge recommended S&W. We werent sure it was kind of on the other end of the beach and we have been to NY and it was kind of a mens only kind of restaurant. We were here for a girls trip and we did have doubts but boy were we wrong! We first walked in and were greeted by smiling, welcoming faces(unusual in south beach) We proceeded to the outside dining area. This hidden treasure was amazing! We were shocked i mean The view was amazing but suprisingly we were around beautiful young single people.( This place is a must with the single crowd!) We had bonded with the bartenders and they could not have been nicer! We ended up getting a little hungry and they recommended some things tuna tataki, the beer battered shrimp and the mac n cheese. WOW WOW WOW they were out of this world! We had such a good time that we came back the next day for lunch! The menu for lunch is I think better than the dinner. The menu contains different things and the prices were not bad. I went with the burger and i think it was like $13. This burger was fantastic and huge. I ordered it with gorgonzola cheese (try that) We all had different things but went overboard on dessert! Coconut cake is something i have never had before! These cakes are sinful! S&W will be added to our favorite places to visit .They should make one in California! From start to finish to the location, staff , and food we had nothing but an A+ experience! Thank you to our concierge Bali from the Delano for the awesome advice!! Without a doubt go try this hidden treasure out!

My husband and I recently visited Smith & Wollensky to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary and I can't say enough about how great everything was! We sat at one of the outside tables, overlooking the water and the view was gorgeous! To start, we shared the calamari appetizer which was great! Then for dinner, I ordered the gorgonzola crusted Filet Mignon and my husband ordered the Cajun Ribeye and for sides we shared the Truffled Mac and Cheese and steamed broccoli. Both of our steaks were cooked to perfection and were so flavourful! Some of the best steaks we've ever had! Lastly, for dessert, we shared the chocolate cake...or attempted to...it was huge and so delicious! Overall, it was the perfect way to spend our 1 year anniversary and we will definitely be returning very soon!

Called away from the bar and had to stand outside for 15 minutes before table was ready. More than 5 minutes at the table before waiter ever acknowledged us. Wine list was fair. Appetizer was okay. We ordered a second bottle of wine to go with dinner 15 minutes before dinner arrived. 15 minutes after dinner arrived the wine finally showed up. The prime rib wasn't up to the standards of the local supermarket - probably the fattiest pieces of prime rib I have ever seen - however, they were cooked perfectly. Never have I gotten a combination of poor service and poor quality food in what is supposedly a first class place and we spent over $150.00 per person for this disappointment.

I was taken to the restaurant for my birthday. We overlooked to order sides. We had the filet mignon and only realized that we forgot to order our sides when we saw the plates headed our way with only meat. We asked the waiter, ?we forgot to order our sides?. He responded to us, well ?the kitchen is really busy tonight, by the time we place the side order your steaks will get cold, maybe next time?. We were in shock to say the least. ?maybe next time? , Did he think there would be a next time after the poor service. We did not get water and everyone around us got bread and we had to ask for ours. The original waiter left us and another brought the dessert and the check. I mean we were speechless.

We have visited several of fine steak houses the service and attention was remarkable. Every time you go to any of these restaurants they ask ?is this your first time?? I think this was ridiculous and incredible that he said ?maybe next time?. I felt cheated. I seriously wished that I had never gone to the restaurant this past Saturday. As I further searched this morning for reviews to post my own on the restaurant, I found that I am not the only one who has had this experience. I don?t think that I will ever go to your restaurant in any city and if I can discourage more people I will. I don?t think it is fair to spend $200 for dinner and not be satisfied.

Pros: There were no good things.

Cons: Steaks were not seasoned right, or cooked right, waiter and overall service poor. No manager in sight asking if everything was o.k.

The food at Smith & Wollensky is great. I was extremely disappointed in how poor the service was at this establishment as it is so great at other Smith & Wollensky locations around the United States. The waiter did such a horrible job of waiting on us. I spoke with the manager and he recommended that I phone the General Manager directly. I did and left a message for him to call me back and I never heard a word from him. Because of this poor acknowledgement from the GM I have decided to NEVER eat at any Smith & Wollensky no matter the location. This type of service is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!!!

This restaurant is terrible. I have been here twice and left without even getting my food last time I went due to the race-ist signs they have up around the bar!!! this place is an disgusting example of another excuse for hate combined with awful service and even wrose food. i would rather die than support this establishment. Thanks anyways.

A terrible experience.

We were all but ignored most of the time and when the food arrived (or rather most of it, as one of our appetizers never arrived at all even though we were still charged for it) it was practically flavorless, not to mention the fact that my boyfriend ordered a ribeye but was served a sirloin.

I'll allow that it might just be the fact that it's in the heart of the tourist watering holes, but still. If you have an option, go somewhere else.

I was completely surprised when we arrived at Smith & Wollensky. A very good friend of mine had decided to surprise me with an great dinner, and she was right, that is exactly what it was .... GREAT.

First of all the location is incredible. If anyone is reading this who has never been to Miami, you must experience it, at least once. We were there on the weekend and around 6PM the cruise ships began to leave and it was simply breath taking. They are so big and were so close, it seemed like you could almost touch them. I ordered the filet mignon and it was made perfectly, the mash potatoes were delicious. The choice of wines was great and the dessert was huge. Afterwards we had a drink at the outside bar and saw the sunset.

A night I will never forget. Simply perfect.

went there on our anniversery on a Saturday night and had a great time. The dinning experience took about 2 hours to completion and was outstanding. Service was a litle slow, but maybe on purporse. The waiter and staff were great. Would go back for special occasion - very, very pricy!

I cant believe that after 5 years of sh*t reviews they still didn't improove anything.
I went there in 2005 and the only positive memory I have is the outside bar.
The food was average and the waiters unfriendly and slow. If I pay $86 for a plain (luke warm) steak I think I could at least expect the waiter to pretend to be in a good mood.

We were party of 4. We ordered the Stone Crab appetizer as the server's recommendation. End up we were paying $196.00 for 8pcs!!! Almost $25 per piece! (enough to order a steak at OutBack). Way overpriced compare with Piero's and many others in Vegas. If you really want to have dinner here, stay with the steak or you will go home with a empty pocket.

I was suprised to see how disappointed I would be of this highly reviewed restaurant. I paid $115 for two dinners, two glasses of tea and one dessert. (no liquor, no appetizers, no additional sides) I wouldnt have minded spending that much money if the food was good, but it wasnt good at all. The fish had no flavor and was not fully cooked. The menu does not give you a lot of choices and is extremely over pirced. The steak was OK, but nothing out of this world for the money you pay. My advice... spend your money somewhere else where you can get good quality food with the same view. I have lived in Miami for 30 years... trust me there are plenty of places to eat with a good view... it miami for God sakes

The steak was good, but the view was even better. This restaurant does an excellent job on presentation and service, however the food while still fine, falls a little short of the same level of expectation compared to its marvelous surroundings. Perhaps I stumbled in on one of those odd evenings when your meat was a little over-cooked and the salad lacked that little extra anticipated burst of flavor. The wine selection was grand as too were the prices, but the location clarifies why. The service as stated earlier was impeccable as the ambiance and location. As for steakhouses, I have enjoyed others better in Miami for a similar price. The deserts from what I understand are amazing there. Especially the coconut creme delicacy that even Angelina Jolie has raved about since dining there a few years back. Overall, a fine dining experience with a smile to boast. L.A.

This place is suppose to be number one when it comes to steaks. Our wait was over a hour to be seated. It took another hour after we ordered to get our food which was unsatisfying. The menu didn't have much to choose from and prices were on the higher side which is to be expect in South Beach but not justified by the service and quality of food. Thank goodness for the wonderful view...you had to have something to look at while waiting for a disappointing dnner.

My husband and I dined here for our anniversary. The food was good but due to some rather drunk diners seated next to us we were constantly interrupted. The staff did nothing about the situation. When we received the bill we had been overcharged on a bottle of wine and again the staff did nothing to remedy the situation. When we complained about the overcharge we were rudely spoken to by a manager. I will never eat at this restaurant again due to the complete lack of customer service.

Impersonal service. Our waiter forgot our appetizer. 45 mins to receive any kind of food. Both ordered medium rare steaks. Both of them came medium well. No-one seemed to care. For $38 a plate I feel they should do it right.
Looks like name & location is everything these days.Very disappointing!

It was so disappointing you feel like fetching a gun. Granted, I was with a large group last Saturday, and we took up the entire backroom. Service was fairly brisk, although I had to ask before either water or wine was refilled. I asked for a filet butterflied rare, and was told that they season their steak. My steak arrived with one half literally burnt, and the other side rarer than blue. Meat was not seasoned, mediocre (can't be prime) and even though asked for rare, had less than 1/2 tsp of juice/blood on the plate. I was able to choke down only one-half. Heavens knows what my company paid for that meal.

This restaurant has, perhaps, the most wonderful location in all of Miami and the service is quite good as well. But, the steaks receive an unenthusiastic OK and every other item on the menu is of such poor quality and/or prepared so poorly as to render a meal there almost entirely devoid of pleasure.

Please, please revise the menu or pay attention to quality in purchasing and preparation.

I can't believe that Smith & Wollensky made this list. I had the worst food there! I have eaten at almost all the steak houses listed in the Miami area and in some of the other restaurants listed, like Manny's in Minneapolis that came in #2 for that city, and believe me, it is an insult to include Smith & Wollensky in the same article. The steak was tough, not cooked like I had requested and the service left much to be desired.

We had a spectacular dinner at S&W's. The champagne, real champagne not California bubbly, came in a chilled flute and was not unreasonably priced. I had a chilled lobster appetizer which was amazingly huge and not tough, which is usually not the case. It came with a house-made mayonnaise. The steak was of course perfection, crusty outside and just the proper pink inside. Wonderful rye rolls and an excellent waiter that didn't hover but anticipated our every need. The view with the sun setting on the cruise ships as they set sail past our table was unforgettable.

This steakhouse was a waste of money. The food was not worth the money we spent and the service even worse. We made reservations and the hostess could not find us. They pretty much blew us off and gave us a bad table which felt like we were in the middle of the hallway. Would not recommend at all.

I could never recommend this restaurant. I went there for my anniversary and it was awful. The steak was burnt to a crisp. This place calls itself a steakhouse?! Puh-leeze! Save your money and go to Outback.

I would never recommend anyone to go here! The House Salad was a couple of Greens on a plate nothing special at all with the prices they charge you would think you get something really nice. The Filet Mignon was unchewable it was like rubber. Then we ordered Coffee which never came instead we got the Check. And the worst part of the Evening was, except of the disgusting Bathroom, the Valet Parking. We sat in the car waiting for 10 Min. when we arrived and when we wanted to leave they couldn't find our keys because they had parked the car and left the keys inside and they still wanted to charge us $4.00 for Valet Parking and could not understand why I was upset.
It is a shame the one in NYC is a great place, they should go there to learn.

This place has it all! Atmosphere, hospitality, friendly professional service, great food and a "thank you and come back" on the way out.
Simply, the way it should be!

No where else in the world will you enjoy the best in steaks and seafood while watching seaport trafic, including cruise ships. You will be dining at the entrence of the Port of Miami where more ships visit than any other port. The view, the food and the service are the best anywhere. Save room for their coconut cake.

Besides delivering the best steak in the city, Smith & Wollensky has great seafood, wonderful desserts and a view you can't beat.

This is an incredible restaurant. Nothing makes me happier than a great steak and a bottle of wine while I can also hang out outside and see the incredible view. WOW! I also LOVE the Irish bartenders - they really make the whole experience a lot of fun. Finally, a female friendly steakhouse.

The view is second only to the great service and food. This is one of the most enjoyable establishments I've visited on South Beach and I have suggested to several people that they too become customers. Without exception, each and every single one has informed me they agree!

The best of both worlds comes alive at Smith & Wollensky in Miami Beach. Right off government cut, cruise ships sail by while you are enjoying the best steak you will probably ever had. My wife and I come here evry chance we get. It has the hustle and bustle of the landmark New York S&W mixed with the relaxed beauty of South Beach. You will not find a bad choice of food in this establishment. It is one of the best restaurants down here. Perfect for impressing a date.
