Went to look at a couple bikes. Sales guy started the classic high pressure BS. Very insulting and rude. Quote included 3 or 4 BS extra charges justified by the statement "when you buy from Barneys you buy into Barneys" WTF is that? BS piled higher than I've ever seen before.

Went in to check out a bike at Barneys... Lot manager tells me how awesome these bikes are (intruder 1500)... I ask him about the recall which impacted the gas tank... he swears there's no recall and I'm sure there is... anyway, I put a deposit down on the bike and plan to come back next week...

The week passez and I go back with the cas after researching the recall... I tell the sales manager I want them to make sure the struts are okay and that the recall has been done... he tells me they'll make sure during the safety inspection... I take him at his word, buy the bike pending the inspection...

3 months and several thousand miles later (3000) I take it to motor sports of tampa for routine service and the service manager tells me he is going to check the bike for recalls... he says yep, your bike is affected and it hasn't been done. So he orders the kit and 3 days later the bushings arrive but upon Doing the work they find it was too late as the Gas Tank was already cracked but now I have to wait 2 months for a new tank!

Suzukis service notice advised against riding the bike without the recall being done and Barneys let me ride out of the place thinking they had checked the bike! The gas tank could have exploded but they didn't care because they got their money and didn't have to risk losing a sale for a bike that would have sat there for 2 month!

The moral of this story is to stay far away from Barneys if you value your life!

If you plan on buying from them, THINK AGAIN!!! The service department there is just waiting to try to rip you off. Don't know what happened to them but I would stay away if you plan on having whatever you buy from them, serviced there.Totally mindless people who just don't care and don't do what you tell them and pay for.

They can not last doing business like this!

I drove 600 miles to this place to buy a used bike I saw on the internet. They did not come down on price much but their initial asking price was already much lower than anything I had seen. Overall - a good experience.

I would NOT recommend this stealership to anyone. It's such a shame, because they're HUGE and have a large selection of bikes. In March 2006 I approached them to buy a blue Yamaha FZ6 - MSRP $6799

They really did not want to bargain, atleast not at first. He told me MRSP was a steal on the bike and couldn't lower the price. Contacted Grannys in Sarasota and they offered me $6200 + tax, tag, title -vs- the $6799 from Barneys. I called Barneys back and they heed and hawed and finally agreed to match the price. After all that I decided to just go w/ Grannys since they offered me the lowest price up front -vs- all this farting around Barneys.

I would NOT use them to purchase or service a bike. I was happy with my purchases from Grannys of Sarasota and Action of Bradenton and would use them both again.

Barneys also has a Brandon location which I also tried to purchase from, but had the same run around, so they also will be getting a negative review.

PROS: location, massive selection and huge inventory available
CONS: pushy salesman, overpriced

This store offers a wide selection of watercrafts and motorcycles. The salespeople are really helpful and knowledgable. They offer a great financing plan and have different specials going on all the time. The store is one of biggest of its kind in the St. Pete/Tampa area.
