My partner and I have taken our pets, 2 dogs/2cats, to Brandon Lakes Animal Hospital for almost 10 years. Their office used to be right behind our house in Heather Lakes. Even though the office is now located further from our house, we still see Dr. Woodside and his staff for our vet needs. We have had two pets put down, due to age, since we started seeing Dr. W. at their clinic. They are truly empathetic and provide exceedingly professional comfort when we have had to make that decision. We have never felt pressure or discourteous service from anyone there. We will continue to use their services because they are top notch! In fact, we plan to board our dog there for an upcoming vacation. She loves going to see Dr. Mark and going to the Spa.

I have been going to Brandon Lakes for several years now however I'm now done. I have had bad experiences in all aspects of this practice. From waiting for 30 minutes in a small room with a restless dog to ordering food from them that they can't even get right so when I go pick it up its the wrong thing and it has to be reordered to the most recent situation.

I have NEVER left the office without something that has a retail value and I would imagine at least a 200% mark-up.

I use to just accept it and tell myself that I trust the dr so I put up with the other things but it has come to the point where I can no longer trust him and feel that I have really come to the end of our relationship.

After taking my dog to him recently because he was restless and was having issues with his bottom, I tried to explain to the dr that he acted like something was bitting him but I couldn't find any bugs on him so perhaps it was a parasite. Obviously he didn't hear a word I said because the next thing I knew he was talking about his hip being bad and talking x-rays and putting the dog out to do that etc... I walked out that day with 2 bottles of meds and ended up spending 145.00.

I wasn't convinced this was the issue so I took my dog to another vet who found flees. There were only a few so thats why I couldn't see them, however he took a very fine tooth comb and found them right away. This visit was considerably cheaper and my dog is now happy and back to normal.

I believe this practice is ONLY AFTER SELLING ITEMS that will finance their new office.

I'm done.. I would NEVER recommend this office to ANYONE.

The staff at Brandon Animal Hospital is very courteous and always respectable. I have had nothing but pleasant experiences in the 6 years that I have taken my dog there. They explain every procedure and take very good care of their patients. They genuinely love animals and treat every patient as if they were their own. The costs are comparable if not cheaper than most places and the care is exceptional. I know that when I board my dog she will be taken care of just as well if not better than when she's at home with me. If you're looking for a vet that is honest and not just in it for the money Dr. Woodside is the best.

Took our little kitten here for an eye infection just this week. Loved the doctors, how clean the office was and the vet was fantastic. He was very personable and I actually had an opportunity to understand exactly what was going on with my pet. Previous vet at local petsmart left us in the dark about our kitten and his condition and charged us nearly $50 more JUST for the medications! Very pleased will be coming back for our next visit soon

i have been a loyal customer of Dr. Woodside since 2005. I trust him with the care of my beloved furry companion and he has proven time and time again to have the deepest level of compassion, honesty, and professionalism. His in-depth knowledge and level of care is amazing. His hospital is clean and the staff is friendly and loving to the animals. I wouldn't trust anyone else with the care of my four legged companion.

This is a response to the negative reviews received by Sue B and Angela H. With regards to the staff rudeness, I can only say that if it is recurrent, I encourage clients to talk to me. It is extremely difficult to monitor what a staff member says every moment of the day, however we have monthly and sometimes weekly mentoring sessions and office meetings to find ways to improve our client service. If an employee cannot comply with the requirement to above all "be nice", they are terminated after appropriate documented coaching sessions. I have made some personnel changes in the past 4 months that reflect this policy. With respect to Angela H comments, I remember the case in question. It occured over a year and a half ago. The surgery went uneventfully, and the patient recovered fine. A NSAID drug used for pain was injected prior to surgery, and her dog unfortunately reacted to it. The injectable drug was immediately removed from inventory and sent to the manufacturer for testing, and found to be pure and cultured negative for bacteria or spores. Her dog unfortunately had a reaction. It is nobody's fault. These things occur in medicine. Yes, I charge for my time to repair an abscess. I did not cause it, the dog had a reaction. Insofar as the estimate, I readily agree that one was not provided, however my fees are commensurate with my experience and are within the range of what other practices around me charge. As a goodwill gesture, I agreed to write off some of the cost. Everything nowdays is expensive. Only fellow small business owners truly know the cost of running a business, not to mention a medical practice, where costs of everything double because it is for medical use. I am not the least expensive within a 20 mile radius, but am far from the most expensive either. My aim is to provide honest, concise, accurate, up to date information for your pet's problem. I have over 3000 clients and 5000 patients that will attest that that is true. best Regards, Mark R Woodside, DVM

They are a bit on the expensive side but it is worth it. They provide excellent care for your pet despite the rude behavior the receptionists and the technicians have. They make your visit very unenjoyable, however I have been very pleased with the services. The doctor is wonderful and really gets personal with the animals.

We took our golden Retriever to Brandon Lakes Animal Hospital for approx. 6 months. The first few visits were fine and the last few visits were less than desirable, to say the least. The straw that finally broke the camel's back was when we took her in to get her spayed. After the procedure, she developed an abscess that was caused by an injection that the vet gave her. They treated the abscess and then charged us $365. We asked for an estimate of the charges prior to the treatment, but was not given one. We confronted the vet about the charges and the fact that we were not given an estimate prior to treatment, and he acknowledge the fact that his staff should have contacted us, so he reduced the charges to $231. How nice of him to reduce the charges of the treatment required to correct the mess he made of our poor puppy! She's only 7 months old and has horrible scars! Needless to say, we will NEVER step foot in Brandon Lakes Animal Hospital again!
