I'm a Past PN Student

by Jessica H.

My name is Jessica and my class graduated from Brewster in May of 2008. It started as a decent sized class but many people flunked out, had family issues, or child care problems, it's not the schools fault or the fault of the instructors that people don't want to study and do well. It was tough as with any nursing program but I graduated with an A average as did others who put forth the effort. There IS GRANT Money for those who qualify. Also My nursing certificate had a big sticker on it that said Accredited. The student adviser, the financial aid adviser, and the Nursing Instructors are wonderful. That bad review must have been written by a disgruntled flunky. :)

Limited offerings with a limited staff

by Anonymous

The facilities this school has to offer are nice. The administration is tough to deal with and it almost seems as if they are short staffed. As for the instructors in the LPN program, they are also short staffed. But that is only an understatement when it comes to describing the instructors. They only have two and one of them also works as the department head of other health programs, so she is not always there. The other one almost always has a horrible attitude and plays favorites. If you don't kiss her bottom, you will not make it through the program. I would also check up on their accreditations as far as for the state of florida and nationally before you invest any time and money into their LPN program. I've heard numerous people who work in the nursing profession (as LPNs and RNs) tell me that they are on probation for not having met the required amount for graduating students. This means that those that have attended the school could be under possible scrutiny when they apply to other schools or jobs. Why invest all that time and money if you are at risk for not being hired or be accepted into another nursing program because of that issue? If you are interested in pursuing a nursing career, you should check out Erwin Technical Center, which is also in Tampa. Their LPN program includes a staff of over 20 instructors, each of which have over 20 years experience has RNs. They usually have a large number of people that apply, but it's worth the wait and even if you get put on the wait list, you will be put in a class. I hope this has helped you in your pursuit of your nursing career or other technical field.
