One of my favorite sushi spots in the Gables/South Miami area. Very relaxed atmosphere and great sushi rolls.

i don't eat sushi, but it happens to be my boyfriend's favorite, so we are always looking for new sushi restaurants offering a menu with options and not just chicken teriyake... moon's menu is extensive and their food is great... everything from the red curry to the dumplings to the spring rolls... coconut shrimp... awesome..

Good food, great location. It's located near UM's main campus and the fried rice is worth dealing with Miami traffic.

Okay I gotta admit I was a little put off by the venue...it took me a few visits to really warm up to the place. But I love the panang and massaman curry chicken. And Thai Donuts. Great for pick up! They also offer sushi which I've had and was surprisingly good. And the people remember me so that's a nice touch. They love to fill up your water but are kinda stingy w. the rice. You have to ask to have rice to go w. your leftovers as they only serve you rice separately as you need it. Great rice and always fresh, I suppose, but really annoying if I forget to ask!

I HAVE BEEN TO MOST SUSHI & THAI RESTAURANTS IN MIAMI AND THIS ONE IS A DEFINITE KEEPER!
THE SUSHI AND THAI MENUS ARE EXCEPTIONAL; THERE ARE CULINARY DELIGHTS FOR ANY AVID ASIAN FOOD LOVER... NOT ONLY IS THE FOOD FRESH & SUCCULENT, BUT THE ATMOSPHERE IS HIP & INVITING. MOON THAI HAS A PLETHORA OF DELICIOUS DINING OPTIONS... I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY SOMEONE WOULD GIVE THIS UNIQUE DINING EXPERIENCE A NEGATIVE REVIEW.

I love sushi here ,very fresh and good portion for the price, volcano roll is the best in town, they give a lot of dynamite conch on top, and it's yummy. For Thai,Pad thai is very good here, I like it with extra peanut and medium spicy.I Love it here.

Fresh meal. My friends and me experienced a healthy feeling when walking out of this restaurant. I immediately began to talk about our meal with my wife all the way home. I highly recommend this establishment for its food, fun atmosphere, great service and clean surroundings. I most surly will be visiting and reordering The Georgie Roll (finger licking) and Pad Thai which I ordered with little oil.

I am an avid sushi eater and have tried just about every Japanese restaurant since they first started appearing in Miami back in the late 70's. What I can tell you about Moon, is that the quality and freshness is bar-none the best in town. "Back in the day" I considered Kampai in South Miami (no longer around) to be the best... now when it comes to atomosphere, great food and good looking people, Moon is where I go. Because of the volume of seafood they move, it is very common to see their chefs cutting up a fresh 30, 40, 50 pund tuna and or other fresh fish. I frequent one moon's restaurants at least two times a week and I guaantee that you will leave very satisfied. Oh; did I mention the good looking people?

I have eaten Thai and Japanese cuisine all over the world and this is definitely not acceptable. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who knows quality. Additionally the server was not friendly nor attentive.

First off, I have NEVER seen a restaurant that is both Japanese and Thai... but Moon Thai pulls it off! They actually have two separate menus and a sushi bar, and serve up everything that those two cuisines would normally have. I had the pad thai dish with shrimp and chicken, thai dumplings, miso soup, and a crunchy shrimp roll. Everything was full of flavor and served with a thoughtful appearance -- not just sloshed out on a plate. Go to Moon Thai if you want reasonably priced, DELICIOUS, Thai and/or Japanese food. The inside of the restaurant is well-decorated and there are two large rooms of seating. It's easy to find on US-1 near UMiami, too.

So far the sushi has been fresh and if you aim for the sushi meals you can get a fair amount for the buck. Thai also taste pretty good, but slightly pricier... after living in NYC and Chi town for some time I'm just used to getting good thai for a fraction of the price (oh well). The wait staff has really been the most inconsistant aspect of this restaurant... sometimes their good, sometimes their just plain pathetic.

I'm not sure where some of the reviewers that didn't like the sushi were eating... I have been to Moon Thai at least every other week for the last year and the sushi has been the best I've had in Miami. The sushi bar consistently prepares excellent sushi rolls and sushi pieces in large portions. The prices are not cheap, but considering the size of the portions the prices are appropriate. The Thai food is very good as well. Parking can be difficult at times since the restaurant shares a parking lot with a Starbucks, but the Starbucks customers tend not to stay very long.

Moon has a large variety of dishes and two whole menus, 1 for Japanese and 1 for Thai.
Ive eaten at many Thai restaurants in the kendall/south miami/central areas and to me they make the best Pad Thai around, & you can customize it with special requests (tofu, beef, chicken, shrimp...or all). The large dinner portion is too pricey for me, but I never eat it all so I order the "Appetizer" portion which is almost half the price.
They have affordable lunch specials for both sushi and thai- and are usually quick with their service if you're in a rush.
They also have a large variety of desserts and they are ALL excellent!
Sometimes on the weekends, it gets very loud inside the restaurant, but they have outdoor tables which are nice.

I went to Moon for sushi, and found it to be good, nothing special. I decided to try the pad thai the next time I went, and I was sorely disappointed. Not only was it $14, it was supposed to have chicken and shrimp, but came with no shrimp, it didn't have any peanuts (how can you have pad thai without peanuts?), and though I ordered it spicy, it had no kick to it! I eat thai food at least once a week when I am home in Detroit, at several excellent Thai restaurants. I know good thai, and this is not it.

I love the food and here and have eaten at Moon more that 5 times in a span of 10 days. UNFORTUNATELY, it is not the service that keep me coming back. The hostess (very young) is consitently rude and makes no effort unless you are good looking asian male. The waitressess could be a little bit faster because although I order tea or water I would like refills so I don't choke on the excellent rice. I had a chance to look at the kitchen and thank god the floors are clean. PEOPLE, ALWAYS LOOK AT THE FLOORS AND RESTROOMS. It is a "tell" in any restaurant. (Mgr for 6yrs) I go to McDonalds next door for nice service but return to Moon for the food only.

I love this place, it is by far the best sushi in South Florida, if I had it my way I would be there every night for dinner! The thai is also great, but I would not recommend the pad thai noodles.

I lived across the street and went to Moon all the time. The food was very good. There were definately certain rolls that stood out, like the Playboy roll. Their Thai Iced Tea alone is worth the trip. Many of my friends enjoy their Thai food very much. (I stick to Japanese). Parking is horrible, but if you're in the area, it is a place to go.

if youre going here just for sushi, look elsewhere... I know this place REAL well (across the street from me; good for location, not for sushi). The japanese food really isnt very good. Ive had it more than my good share and the seafood really isnt very good.... i'm often disappointed with what i order. trust me, if youre looking for sushi in the area go to Wasabi/sushi maki near Sunset Place or Matsuri at bird and red rd. If youre hoping for really good sushi here i promise you'll be disappointed (even if I Do go every week... location location)

We (self and girlfriend) consider this place one of Miami's gems. Terrible location right on US1 but inside the restaurant is spacious, relaxed and a very friendly place to be. Japanese is ok, nothing better. Thai is very good and very fresh. Curries excellent. Simple starters like Tiger Tear very good too. This place comes with a strong recommendation. In fact we'll be there tonight, drinking a Singha and waiting for take-out.
