I only gave this two stars because the interior is adequate and there was a guy singing that was good which created a nice atmosphere. The food however..blech. I had the chicken fajitas which was just green bell pepper and onions, no red

First and foremost, don't let a review sway you from trying something new. Reviews are just that, someones personal opinion.

We've been to the Thirsty Marlin in PALM HARBOR (Why do people post reviews for Largo?) many times over the last few years. Every time we've gone we've had a great time. If you're looking for a place to kick back, have some food in a fun environment with plenty of personality and the Floridian feel, this is the place to go! Their Monday night all you can eat crab legs are absolutely delicious. I don't understand these people that had a terrible experience. Were you expecting a fine dining experience? Or were you just not prepared for the cost of your meal? Yeah well not every restaurant goes through the large companies for their product and can sell a burger for a dollar. Try buying local organic meat in any city and you'll notice you're paying for what you get. If you want your cheap food, go back to before the economic decline or check out the local fast food! Bottom line, they've got good food, great variety, great daily specials, an environment, everything. They've got it all. Just don't go here if you're looking for a quiet place to grub. This place is meant for ENJOYMENT. You get what you put into it.

WOW... I'm surprised by the negative reviews. My husband and I have been going to Thirsty Marlin since it opened 9 years ago. We love the atmosphere and the food is alway great! Reminds me of Key West back-in-the-day. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion so please try it for yourself. We love it there.

My wife and I first ate at the Largo location just as a drive by find. We had an outstanding meal, great service-that we had to try Palm Harbor. However this time we brought over 20 friends and family! We booked our reservation with Mike Flowers- he was so wonderful and helpful! He offered to even set us up outside on the patio if we wanted to. We ordered 10 different appetizers- ALL of them came out excellent, no-superb! The tuna was perfectly cooked to RARE! The blackend grouper nuggets were greatly seasoned. Lobster & Prime Rib Quesadillas were cooked to perfection. We then ordered dinners and sandwiches for our meals! I just read a negative comment about a soft shell crab sandwich- WOW- that was wonderful!! I expected the whole crab-as that is how it is supposed to come! The server was great at suggestions too! The Thai Chicken Wrap was outstanding, my friends and family had such a GREAT time and ENJOYED EVERY bite that they ate! Dessert- Key lime pie, Fried Cheesecake, and the Chocolate Cake- mouth watering!!! We had such a wonderful experience that I have booked a once a month business networking meeting here! Mike Flowers helped put it together and I can't wait to come back! Thank you Mike for a WONDERFUL dining experience!! I suggest this and the Largo restaurant to everyone!! You made all my friends and family fans for sure, it won't be the last time you see us!!

Pros: FRESHEST SEAFOOD IN TOWN!!!

Cons: the negative comments people left!!!

We just moved to the Tampa area a few months ago and have tried many seafood restaurants and this is the best. They not only offer the bar type food (wings-burgers-fries-onion rings) but also the hard to find (fried green tomatoes-cracked conch-tuna Sashimi). They also have great sushi

The dinners are huge and you really get what you pay for.

We would recommend it to anyone.

Pros: Best Seafood on West Coast

Cons: None we found

.

We and our friends have been eating at The Thirsty Marlin for over 8 years, as late as last week, loving it all the time.

There have been a few mistakes here and there but over all the food has been fantastic and the service plesant and fast. They won Best of The Bay last year, no wonder it is so popular.

The seafood is especially fresh and cooked to perfection and they cook many items over a real oak fire. We especially love the prime rib quesadillas which my wife and I share because there is enough for 2 at less than $5 each. Some of the seafood items are more expensive but anyone that has bought real Grouper lately knows why.

We have and will continue to recommend this this place to all our friends.

We had terrible food and service. Manager could care less when we voiced our concerns and complaints.
Food was greasy and expensive. Had a stomach ache after eating here and my stomach can handle alot.
Not worth the price at all!!!
Will never go back and plan on warning my friends.
YIKES!!! Just looked...and this place has bad reviews on cleanliness also, Should have checked this site first before entering this place.

For many years it was easy money. Now the consumer is demanding. The food is D grade the owners are lazy and don't expect much from there employees or vendors. Largo may be the location that gets these guys gone so we can get a real restaurant at this location instead of a meat market.there website is a joke, they used to have good food. No more

one word sums it up... TERRIBLE.... Expensive Overpriced Bar type food at Upscale Dining Prices... and what made it worse management (the owner himself) just doesnt care. we thought we spoke to a manager and found out it was an owner. russ something or other. well folks scratch this one off your list unless you want to pay Salt Rock Grill price for Hootes food... no sorry Hooters is far better for less money... service was good at least ... too bad the food quality and management isnt as good as the servers.

This was the Largo location on West Bay Drive. We eat at every place possible in Pinellas county. 2 to 4 times a week. Heard The Thirsty Marlin was good. Decided to give it a try. The wait staff were prompt and friendly, the place was clean and the ambience nice. The food was mediocre at best. Ordered a soft shell crab sandwich which to unbeknownst to me, it came out as a "whole" crab on an onion roll. I did not want this at all, offered to pay for it (which they gladly let me) and ordered a cuban sandwhich in it's place. The Cuban was not at all indicitive of an authentic cuban. Castro would have shot the man who made it. My wife ordered a Ahi Sensation Tuna sandwich. Ordered it rare, rare, rare, in which it came out medium-well to very-well. Not impressed at all with the food. Everything was just so-so. Not worth the price. Would not recommend or go back. Much better food at Bonefish or Rumba.

My family and I recently had dinner at the Thirsty Marlin and even though there were 8 of us, the service was excellent and the food the same. We moved to the Clearwater area about two years ago and have been hearing about this restaurant ever since we moved here but for one reason or another we just hadn't made the trip and now we are sorry we put it off. My husband even ordered a steak that he said was one of the most tender he has eaten. I had salmon cooked on a cedar plank that was fantastic and I had a bite of my son's Grooper sandwich and WOW was it good. I would recommend the Thirsty Marlin to anyone that wants great food and service. I also understand they are opening a new one near West Bay and Missouri ave in Largo which is closer to where we live. YEA!

This was our first and last trip to the Thirsty Marlin. A few nights ago my husband decided to try this resaurtant but never again. We chose to sit outside since it was such a nice night but there were so many flies that it made eating very difficult. Our waitress said this has happened before with the flies. It was so hard to eat because there were at least 2 dozen flies trying to get at our food. My husband had crab legs and the flies on the empty shells was disgusting!. We finally had to call our server over to take away the shells in hopes that the flies would leave. It was hard trying to enjoy the food when you have to shoo away flies. Walking thru the restaurant we even noticed quite a few flies inside. It was such a horrible experience. It really took your appetite away. We won't be back

I have been to the "Marlin" many times and always enjoyed it. Great music outside, makes you feel like your in the islands. I have always had good service and the food is great. The guys who own the Marlin have helped the area in many ways. They are contributors to, YMCA, Heart foundation for kids, March of Dimes, Junior league, All Children's Hosp. as well as many others. I would recommend this as a point of destination for any occasion.

I've eaten there at least 5 times. Not because I like it, but because the ambience attracts people and I keep getting out-voted! By the looks of it, you'd think you are going to really enjoy it. It is very tropical, Jimmy Buffet themed and inviting. But the live music outdoors is far too loud to have any conversation (and I love loud music, just not during dinner). The food is usually barely average, never anything memorable. Service has not been good. Once I went to pick up a to-go order for a sick friend. I entered the bar and spoke with the bartender, telling her as much. She said it was ready (and pointed to it on the counter), and that she'd be with me in a minute. She then proceeded to make multiple drinks for the people sitting at the bar, actually asking them if they were ready for more, instead of just ringing me up. I literally stood waiting 15 minutes. She kept looking at me then saying just a second or something, and making someone else another drink! It was really outrageous. The order was for sushi. My sick friend and I did not like it at all. It was dripping in mayo, instead of just a touch. Also, I asked specifically when I placed the order if they used real crab or imitation, and was told real, but received imitation. We ended up throwing away the food, it was that bad. I do not recommend this restaurant.

I took my family into Thirsty Marlin recently and received both terrible service and substandard food. When I asked for the manager (Brian) he acted as if he could care less and told us to not bother coming back if we were so unhappy with the food and service.

So my patronage to the Thirsty Marlin has come to an end!!!!

Best quality for the money and you're completely relaxed as well. Casual, very good food, relaxing atmosphere, just what a visitor wants to help unwind in the sunshine state. Three visits in an eight day period. We have over fifty years of food service experience between the two of us, an establishment to keep in mind when in the area. Keep up the good work, folks.

Thirsty Marlins is fantastic!! I had to book a dinner for 10 people and they all had a wonderful time. They have live music, outdoor seating, and just a great atmosphere the crowd is lively but not rowdy.

FYI- they only take reservations fro groups of 8 and over
