First off this hotel is the worst place i've ever seen! It's EXTREMLY NASTY. We were charged double for the room with no help from management. Nasty does not even begin to describe this place. The carpet in the rooms needed replaced 15 years ago,the doors dont close, if i had to do it again id rather sleep in my car. The only nice thing about this place is it's on the beach. If you choose to stay here be prepared to have the worst vacation of your life. It will cost you 30 bucks a day to park your car. It will cost you to use your room safe even if you dont use it your still going to pay. no towels no wash clothes. My 10 year old son found a large bag of cocain on the floor in the hotel room. Try to take a shower and the water goes from ice cold to water hot enough to brew coffee. you will be charged extra for the microwave and fridge in your room. And i would not put anything in the microwave because there was something living in it i think. Do not let the shelborn website pictures fool you there was some MAJOR photoshop work done here. Do yourself and your family a favor and pick another hotel!!
Do not stay at the Shelborne despite the fact that the location is good. We were there for Memorial Day Weekend & hated being in our hotel or the room. This hotel is dirty, has bugs that bite, is old, the carpets are filthy & they have terrible customer service. We requested two full-size beds; we called two days in a row leading up to our stay to ensure this was done along with additional amenities for our room. Upon check-in they gave us two keys, contracts to sign and they were unpleasant.Nothing we requested was done.We did not have two full-size beds. Moreover the rooms are smaller than college dorms.We called the desk to get the room we requested; the hotel manager Marcelo told us that if we didn't like it we could leave, there are no guaranteess on rooms, he would not refund our money & that there are no other rooms available. We were miserable; this was the worst establishment I've stayed in ever.
This place had its ups and downs. It's in a good location right on 18th and Collins. Also, there was a nice pool and cabana bar and the Lincoln Rd. shops and a Walgreens are two blocks away. The only problem is the rooms are pretty small. Also, DO NOT rent a privately owned room from here, as you will not be able to enjoy any hotel service but rather have to go through the private owner for everything (read: no maid service, no fresh towels daily, can't call front desk for any assistance).

Very nice place with excellent service. Rooms in the new tower all have great views and the bathrooms are really nice. It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at SweetHotelDeals.us They usually have some pretty good deals on there!
Just stayed at the Shelborne for the second time. Had a great time. Brought friends also. Beautiful place and really good rates.

I've stayed here twice. Stop by there just for the architecture. Completely refurbished art deco hotel. Great beachfront property as well as a very inviting outdoor pool area and bar. Rooms are in great shape and decent to good amenities within them.

We really enjoyed our 2 night get away! Shelborne is an Art- Deco building and almost transports you to another time while remaining totally trendy!!.....The staff was super friendly....check in was a breeze and when they found out it was our anniversary our room was upgraded!! We were in the PH and they had a bottle of wine chilling for us

Only steps from Lincoln Road.....and club SHINE in the hotel was a blast! I would recommend again and again!
Our trip was perfect!! We found this amazing studio through Craigs list and made great friends with the owner. Everything he told us about the studio was correct. It had even more ammenities than we expected!! The location of the hotel is perfect. We walked everywhere and did not need a car. We took the "GO" shuttle from Ft. Lauderdale airport to the hotel. The Mediterranean restaurant near the corner was excellent. We walked to the convention center just a few blocks away. The hotel pool and hot tub was great.
We loved our trip to Florida and would recommend this studio to anyone!!

For my cousins bachelorette weekend we decided that South Beach was the perfect destination. We got a two bedroom townhouse that had some astonishing views of the pool. Both bedrooms were clean and spacious with large, comfy beds. The townhouse had a full kitchen, dining area and 2 bathrooms (which with 4 girls was extremely important). The staff at the Shelborne were extremely helpful also. They helped us find the perfect club to celebrate the weekend and were able to arrange bottle service for us. I had called ahead to have some food platters sent up for our arrival. When we got there the food arrived mere minutes later. We got an assortment of sandwhiches and another of fried goodies! Everyone agreed that they were delicious! The beach and pool were great, although we did experience a rainy day. Overall, the Shelborne was truly a great find!
I have no complaints!! The experience was very pleasant. I rented room 1003 thru vrbo and I dealed directly with the owner for my reservation, He was very helpful and courteous, The room was very nice, very clean and had an excellent view to the ocean, Great location and the price very affordable. I sincerely recommend this hotel 100% and I will definitely go back!!!
I went to the Shelborne this weekend and was scared when i saw these other reviews from 2007. I didn't find any of these complaints, in fact they front desk was wonderful, the room was great, and it didn't look old althought it was built in 1940's Maybe the person that stayed there is a 5 star hotel girl with a 3 star budget or just not a nice person, im sorry but the complantes are not acurate in my experience NOV 2008

Pros: great price, on the beach, rooms were comfortable and big, 2 double beds for me and friend
Cons: not much parking, no 24hour room service clean rooms
The Shelborne Hotel's reservation department and customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I made a booking, six months in advance, and they realized that they could get more money because it was during high season. They cancelled my reservation and told me that I could rebook at a higher rate.

I stayed at the Shelborne over the 4th of July weekend and I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the hotel. The hotel room looked nothing like the rooms they advertise on their website. The bathroom was too small and had no ventilation. The carpet was stained and the lighting was horrible. When I went to the front desk to let them know that our phone and lamp was not working properly, the staff was rude. The only good part of the hotel is that it is on the beach and the beds were comfortable. I would never stay at the Shelborne again. I learned my lesson and will be staying at hotel chains from now on.

My husband and I just stayed there last weekend and the hotel is right on the sand of South Beach. Our room was facing the beach, so we had an awesome view. they are located right in the middle of everything in that area. the decor is really beachy and glamorous. the staff was nice, but go elsewhere for food b/c it is really expensive there. even the cokes are expensive. but on their website they have promotions where you can get a super cheap oceanfront room.
Pros: price of rooms, location is on beach, nice staff
Cons: expensive food, parking is tough, expensive drinks
