I Concure - She is Awesome!
by Jazzy123 W.
I can not believe someone out does not like Dr. Scudder or her staff. She is one of the nicest people I know and the best Doctor I ever had. I have recommended her highly to people and at least 2 people, that I know of, go to her and think shes wonderful too. As far as her staff goes she used to have this pretty grouchy front desk person that hasn't been there for years. Her staff is awesome and very helpful - not a bad egg in the bunch.
To the complainer that your time is valuable too, this is a doctor and my Dr. needs to take the time to answer any and all of my questions, and I will understand when she is doing that for someone else. I have never waited 3 hour or hours for that matter and I have been going to her for 5 years.
I can only conclude your talking about a different Dr. Scudder. My Dr. Scudder is located on Busch Blvd. in Tampa Fl.

LOVE HER STAFF
by Claire M.
I go to Dr. Scudder's office for weekly weight management appointments. I have only seen Dr. Scudder once, but she was VERY sweet & understanding. She explained everything thoroughly and took the time to listen & answer every one of my questions.
I interact with her staff every single week and they are absolutely amazing. They are nice, responsive, and VERY accommodating. Especially the two ladies at the front desk. They make leaps & bounds to help clients and always have good advice. I look forward to going back every week just to be able to say hello and talk to all of the staff.
Please don't listen to comments that are negative, they just make me believe those reviewers are sad & unhappy people in the first place. I have been to numerous doctors offices all over Tampa and no other office compares. Appreciate the supportive & good doctors, just like the office of Dr. Scudder.

Best Doctor Ever!
by Erin C.
Dr. Scudder has been my doctor for approximately 5 years and she will continue to be my doctor for the next 5 years. Dr. Scudder actually LISTENS when you talk to her. She pays attention to what you are saying and she treats you like an individual with feelings, as opposed to just a number. She shows great concern for her patients and has a great deal of empathy.
For all those doctors' offices that actually have you in a room at your exact appointment time, well, that probably means that they treat everyone the same...you get 8 minutes and that's it, on to the next patient so that they can stay on schedule. What is more important to you, your doctor listening to you and giving you the time you need, or your doctor whipping through your exam and barely listening to you so that he/she can stay on schedule?
With Dr. Scudder, you can be sure that your health comes first. A few minutes waiting is a small price to pay for an accurate diagnosis.

My time is valuable
by Lisa W.
I used to go to Dr. Scudder because she is such a great doctor and I love the fact that she listens. But my time is just as valuable as hers. If she is falling behind on her appointments everyday she really needs to start spreading them out a little more to be respectful to her patients. And if a patient not respectful enough to show up on time for an appointment then they should be treated as a walk in and have to wait to be seen if she has time. Take care of the patients that showed up on time.
Dr. Scudder really needs to have a talk with her staff to remind they are dealing with people. They may here the same thing everyday and it becomes old to them. But they should remember that one day it could be them on the receiving end and they would want to be treated nicely and with respect.
Remember the old saying treat others the way you want to be treated (even when it is hard).
And if any of Dr. Scudders staff are reading the message boards they should print them and give her a copy that way she can try and resolve the problems her patients have. She can not try and make changes if she does not know about them. She is a great Doctor and I would love to go back to her but I can not take long lunches every time I need to see her. Maybe Saturday hours would help a little for the working patients.

Happy with Dr. Scudder
by James R.
I have been going to Dr Scudder now for over a year. I think she is great and good at listening to you and assessing your problems.I have been to many Dr's who don't listen and pretty much play guessing games about what is wrong with you. Yes you may have to wait in the waiting room, but Dr's are very busy and can lose track of time, they have problems to solve. If someone is sick they are not going to leave that person just to take care of the bored patients in the waiting room that are only there for a checkup. As far as the idiot with issues over a prescription, sometime Dr's like to make appointments to see you if you have been on meds for a certain length of time. They aren't there to just hand out meds and not know what is going on in your body... They have a license and career to protect.I will however acknowledge that the women who runs the front window is a real sweetheart. Definitely should not be the face of the practice. She is very rude and argumentative. The rest of the staff including her nurses are usually very friendly. The important part of the entire experience is the medical attention you receive. I don't live with the front desk women (I feel for whoever does) and I only need to deal with her for a few minutes and then its over.

For the complainers out there,...
by Catherine C.
For those of you who complain about waiting too long to see the doctor, or too long for a nurse to return your call, let me tell you from experience of working in a doctor's office (and not Dr. Scudders). Has it EVER occurred to you that MAYBE the physician ended up with a difficult case, or maybe an emergency with a patient, or maybe that someone came late to the appointment, that maybe THAT was the reason for falling behind. If the receptionist gave you an explanation on why the doctor is running late, the excuse would not have been good enough for you anyway, so why give you one. As far as the nurse is concerned about calling you back, if she had to take EVERY call, and answer those calls either immediately or within a few hours, do you think that you would EVER get in on time? I like Dr. Scudder, I believe that she is very knowledgeable and compassionate. I've been to other PCPs where the office staff was "nice", and the care was worthless! Be considerate of others, and know that if you got into your appointment on time and for whatever reason Dr. Scudder had to spend extra time with you, that YOU are now making someone else late!

What is wrong with you?
by Norma W.
Dear patient who is looking for an honest opinion of Dr. Scudder -
I adore this doctor! She literally saved my life 5 years ago, and I have the utmost respect for her knowledge and abilities as a family doctor. She goes above and beyond with spending time with you and her bedside manner is very down to earth. I can tell her anything AND she listens! Her small practice is VERY busy and rightly so with the quality of doctor she is.
Please don't listen to these self-absorbed people who think they are the only patients and when they want/need something everyone else but them should have to wait.
I believe so much in Dr. Scudder and appreciate all she does for her patients, I am willing to leave my real name.
Thank you,
N. Wise

Rude
by z z.
Just because Dr. Scudder and her staff are busy does not give them the right to be rude to patients. I understand if the patient is unreasonable but they are rude at "hello".
What is the point of making an appointment at 1pm if you can't be seen until 3pm? Is a doctor's time more important than a patients? Because she's a doctor should we bow down and let ourselves be disrespected? As for prescriptions I called in once a month before I was out and I still had to jump through hoops to get a refill.
If you have time to sit and wait for hours for a so called appointment and you can handle being spoken to like you're an idiot then go to Dr. Scudder.

people are amazing
by Anonymous
Those of you that have left negative reviews regarding Dr. Scudder and her staff are amazing!!!! Have you ever worked in a Dr.'s office? Do you know what it is like to have to deal with people like you that think they are the only patients the Dr. has? You get mad because a nurse doesn't answer when you call? Have you ever stopped to think that maybe they are with other patients? That they are working so damn hard that they don't have time to sit at a phone just to wait on your call? These girls in Dr. Scudder's office bust their ass only to have nasty people like you leaving comments about them and giving them a hard time because you have to wait and you decided to bring a toddler with you to your Dr.'s appointment. Bringing kids to an appointment slows down the Dr. and the staff because instead of you paying attention you are dealing with your kid which slows down everyone and the process and makes other appointments get behind. Ever think of that? And think before you ask for a refill on your meds. Don't wait until the last minute. Consider the law. You can't always get meds with out an appointment. You use your Internet to leave stupid comments, use it to see what the law is. And remember when you make an appointment you are not the only patient the practice has others like me have to wait for an appointment too.

Who are you people???
by Anonymous
I have been a patient of Dr. Scudder for approximately 5 years and it is amazing to me that the reviews commenting on poor service by the receptionist/office manager would be an issue. Those of you like myself who are long time patients know who to complain about and the two individuals (yes two, not one) are not the ones. I personally cringe at the thought of going to my appointments when "C" is not in, she is always so pleasant, efficient and professional. I'm retired, but I know about customer service and for an office as busy as this one I know it is difficult keeping it together. "C" does and excellent job in keeping the front line. The reviews previous to this must have been written by a new patient and an all around difficult person. It is easy to blame others for your bad experiences and so hard to look at how you contributed to those events. Try approaching life positive and people will treat you positive in return.

Losing patients !
by Anonymous
I really hope Dr. Scudder finds the time to read the reviews posted here. I agree she is a good doctor, but that office staff makes me not want to ever go in there again. Rude!!! To make an appointment is almost impossible, then when you finally get in there, you wait....45mins to an hour to be seen. ( try doing that with a toddler on your hip) And forget about asking any questions with the front office staff, they acted as is I was invisible! And whoever posted about the woman that likes to argue...yes she does...little ray of sunshine isnt she? I know exactly who your speaking of...I simply asked...at 10:45...(when my appt was at 9am)...when I would be seen...her answer??? "We will call for you when its your time to be seen"
WOW! Thanks!
I understand that the job can be stressful...but isnt that true of any of our jobs? It doesnt give them the right to treat us badly, and on that note, I am on a quest for another PCP, with a FRIENDLY office staff, I pay WAY to much for my health insurance to settle for a sour puss staff !

Unsatisfied with staff
by Anonymous
Dr. Scudder herself is a kind and caring doctor. Dealing with her staff is completely opposite. The receptionist/Office Mgr is not friendly and extremely argumentative. (I was very glad to see that someone else had written about this also). The assistants do not pay attention to current medication that you are on and new ones prescribed. The nurses are unreachable ALWAYS. In a 3 yr. period that I was with her office, I NEVER have had a nurse pick up the phone, and it takes way over 24 hrs for them to get back with you, IF they do. The nurses and rest of the staff are unrespectable by myself and others that I know that have chosen her as their PCP. Also, there have been multiple times that I have waited 1-2 1/2 hrs to even be called to a room for my appt. I have changed PCPs and am very glad that I did, as the staff is who you deal with if you need help, and her staff unfortunately does not have the skills!

Terrible
by Anonymous
I was a patient for 10 years and never had a problem until she wouldn't refill a prescription without an appointment. The appointment times they had was not until almost a month later and she refused to give me temporary medicine. Obviously the co-payment is more important to her than her patients health. Stay away from her.

Service not in evidence here.
by Stan K.
Was a patient of Dr. Scudder's for 2 years. On three separate occasions my daughters needed a timely appointment only to be told 3-4 weeks was the wait time. Routinely sat in her office for 45-60 minutes after the appointment time. And her office manager was the rudest individual I have ever met. We finally had to call Humana and file complaints against her service to switch to another primary care physician.

Dr. Scudder seems to be a good, caring doctor, who takes time and seems interested. This is a nice, small office--not a huge "assembly line" practice. I was very happy with her. She is able to fill some prescriptions there, so you don't have to make a special trip to the pharmacy, which is very convenient.

Lisa is a great General Practice Physician that is very knowledgeable in her field. Her office is full of skillful RN's unlike a lot of doctors offices in the Tampa Bay area. The wait time was accurate and when I had an appointment at 11, I was called at 11. That is a must in my book in this day in age.
PROS: Great location, excellent service
