We have been back several times, but latley we noticed changes, the menu has changed, the owners have chnged, now just a lady, Panny owns it and she really does not have the business skills, nor people skills to run a restaurant. Our chef Alfredo is still there but has been pushed to the side by a Randy and his wife who even had Randy's picture put in our local paper BUT the food is now terrible and the specials are just not good anymore. By raising the pricces we have decided to no longer visit even tho we know Alfredo is still there. We are saddened by the fact that he has been pushed to the side and the owner does not realize his skills NOr does she appreciate him and what he can do. He was a 5 star chef in his home town out of state as a saute Chef for an italian restaurant. He can cook anything and everything and Randy and his wife are No chefs, but they are a joke and a sham. Save your gas money and go somewhere closer to US27

At 6 a.m. this little place is due to re-open. My husband and I do hope that it lives up to our expectations. We are planning on bringing friends with us as well. We peeked int he windows, they have repainted, did away with the tacky coke product decorations and made it a slightly bit more upscale. Matching seat covers and wallpaper border as well as the previously mentioned fresh paint seems to clean the place up quite a bit.
We could also see a great deal of kitchen work had been done, so we cross our fingers hoping the food has improved along with the looks.
In the newspaper ads, there were two, was one familiar name (Bryan) and a new one (penni).. so we are not sure what it will bring to us now. When we drove through the lot earlier we saw our most favorite cook/chef Alfredo and we must say the fact the he is there gives us great hope, we remember him and his wife from Buen Apetito.

Well this time, the place improved leaps and bounds, holding on to their main chef that has been with this particular location since it was named the Lighthouse, through a total of 4 owners! He stuck with them, at least they did one thing smart because that guy can cook! Al will serve it up just right and never frets about special orders! But yet again the place is closed. Sometimes it seems these privately owned businesses just can not keep us with the big chain type places. We have taken trips out there several times in over a month and still they are closed, no notice in the window, nothing. There was a local rumor that they were re-opening last week but alas, they are closed. Not sure what happened this time, but the history of the place is going to overshadow anything they do because in small towns like ours word travels fast... even if it is not 100% correct. They are going to have to advertise a great deal to get their people back, they were never big on adverts, but I think it is a must this time. They had a ton of loyal customers, I only wish they gave us the courtesy of an explanation. It is such a shame, that they do not seem to care, unless of course they are gone for good, then I suppose they owe us nothing. I just hope we can track down the chef Al, we will follow that Chap anywhere!

UPDATE 3-32-07
They are open, the food is good, but I have a sneaking suspicion that they will not be there long. We read an article in the paper, written into the editor that they were open, we went and were happy. Well we came back and find the help is not happy at all. The one lady, Penny(sp) is really not made out for this business from what we have seen, comparing her to the other 3 owners. We could over hear her in the kitchen complaining to the help, hear help outside complaining about her. It is a recipe for disaster. They will not last the summer doldrums in this area unless she changes her attitude towards her employees. Most of the staff they have there have worked at that location for over a year, much longer than she has been in the picture.
If they lose Chef Al, they will lose it all for sure, most of us only go there for his cooking anyway... I mean it is his cooking that makes the place... he is doing the work.

Recently visited this fledgling restaurant which has once again changed ownership (for the good). The staff are much more professional and service is good and improving. A new chef has been hired and the food changes are awesome. The prices are low for the quality of meal you get. the entire place has been cleaned up with more updates to come. I highly recommend you give this place another try I believe you will be pleasantly surprised.....

PROS: great food, good service, home cooking without the clean up
CONS: a little off the beaten path

What can one say? The menu has changed serveral times, they now do not offer the selection of foods as they once did and have almost completly done away with the ice cream.
They do have friec chicken now and seem to be pushing that.. it is good but KFC is closer and cheaper.
This place is pretty far out there if you do not live in this area of spring lake.
The service is, well ok. One waitress, Sandy or Sandra or something talks too much about personal restaurant business stuff in front of the customers and I have seen her several times sit down with customers and hold a conversation with them.. it is quite unprofessional. From what I know know because of her, there seems to be inside problems there.
The food is ok, but my biggest complaint is the staff.. they clean before you are even done with your food at night, the waitress will go out and smoke and then come back to your table without washing her hands first smelling of ciggaretts. I have driven past right after closing and have seen the staff smoking in the restaurant which is just appalling! It is a non-smoking establishment!
We have stopped going because of this and because they seem to have changed cooks again and the food is not as good as it was. They had a nice spanish man cooking and the food he presented was perfect, but the food now is lacking. If we could request that young man to be put back as main cook we would, we know he is still there, but semms to have been maoved to another posistion. What a shame, maybe becuase he is hispanic and the newer people are not... as far as my family is conserned we will not be returning until they fix there staff and customer service problems.

PROS: NONE
CONS: Service, waitress is unprofessional and inappropriate.
