I actually opened this Ho-Jo's on the beach. Did anyone ever notice that the address is 700 which is actually the OCEAN~~ The original owner's had the address changed as all of the other's are ODD numbers! This will always be a favorite as all of the rooms have an ocen view and a typical Ho-Jo menu.

If you're on a budget, then this Howard Johnsons is not a bad choice, really, but if you have a little leeway on room rates then you would be better off elswhere.

They're right there on A1A and the beach and in between the two main tourist strips so it's not a far walk to dining, entertainment, and shopping. They have they're requisite HoJos on premises if you're feeling lazy.

The rooms are clean, but tired. This old hold out is showing its age both inside and out. The mattresses probably should have been replaced a year ago, but this is also sandwiched in there between all the new fancy high rises going up so I'm sure the corporation is just idling by awaiting the offer they can't refuse.

I wouldn't call this is a bad area of the beach right now, but the construction is drawing transients, and there have been a few incidents up that way so if you can afford it, I'd go a bit farther south on the island to stay.

If you do stay here, just be alert and you should be fine. The beach is beautiful, and there is a lifeguard stand right near there.

PROS: on the beach, affordable
CONS: old, run down
