This is cool because you can see Florida's alligators up close! It makes for a fun day. Once, I saw a manatee there and it wasn't supposed to be there so it was a nice treat to see an endangered animal.

Wakulla Springs is a fun, sping fed beach. The offer boat rides to see alligators and wildlife close to the shore. Fun, family day at it's best!

We visited in the August. We took a river tour. Our guide was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. He tried very hard to find a manatee. He took time afterwards to discuss the true dangers (not real dangerous) of alligators and also pointed out hiding snake to share with my children. The original Tarzan movies were filmed here. Really cool place to visit. We could not stay to swim. There was a beach and diving platform (no worries...the bottom is hundreds of feet deep).

When the heat and humidity are weighing down on you and your family....consider the short (35 minutes from Tallahassee) drive to Wakulla Springs. There you will find clear spring water at a constant 70 degrees, perfect for diving or dipping to cool off. The springs has a small man-made beach for tanning, Two diving platforms (staffed with lifeguards), and is surrounded by large oak trees providing great shade for a picnic. They also have guided boat tours so you can safely explore the Lake area and the Springs that you cannot swim in. On the tours you'll encounter many beautiful wildlife species that we don't see regularly in the city.
