Just got back to New York after spending two months with hosts Barry and Mary Ann at the East Lake Fish Camp. The cabins were excellent and well taken care of. Had a problem with a mini fridge one afternoon, told them about it when I went in to eat dinner and by the time I returned they had replaced it with a new one. The cabins are spacious with paved driveways and plenty of room to park boats and trailers without having to breakdown every night.

The food was excellent, the service was a bit slow, but I think it was due to inexperience. Ate breakfast there almost everyday and the specials were good portions with texas sized toast and reasonably prices. Had dinner there several times a weeks and did not have one bad meal in two months. The Seafood buffet was good if you like a lot of fried food, the homemade soups were excellent. For me the never miss buffet was the Sunday brunch, omelets made to order, biscuits and home made gravy, sausage, ham, and some of the best cinnamon rolls you could imagine, plus a whole lot more.

The marina and the ramp are excellent, plenty of parking and you can launch most any kind or size of boat, and up to 4 or 5 boats can be launched at a time from the concrete ramp. The marina basin is sheltered from the wind and no matter how windy the lake gets you can load/unload your boat without any problems. Covered slips are available. the store is well supplied with all the things you need from fishing to clothes to food, and those things you forgot to pack or ran out of.

The entire staff went out of their way to help and always asked if there was anything more they could do to make things nicer. I was amazed with as busy as the ladies were in the store that they took the time to learn your name. They make you feel at home and not like just another customer. The housekeeping staff was excellent, they would go out of their way to get you anything you needed.

There were Texas Holdem tournaments and Bingo. One of the wives hit the jackpot one night. Add to this a full sized pool, laundry mat, and stocked ponds for the kids to fish and you have it all.

The only problems I found were the slow service in the dinning room and the lack of wifi for the cabins. They did have DSL wifi in the restaurant and the dinning room, but it was a little inconvenient to have to walk down from the cabin to use it. Barry is undertaking trying to get wifi for the cabins and RV park this coming year.

I am planning on spending another two or three months next year and have several of my friends committed to returning as well. I highly recommend it, after spending many years coming to Florida it was my pleasure to finally find a place that "get's it" as far as taking care of fisherman AND their wives.

Sincerely, Dave DeRemer aka Baron

Do NOT camp here! The camp sites are so close you can't tell where one ends and another begins. The pool is smaller than the photos would have you believe. It is clearly not worth the extravagant costs they charge!

Facilities are good and sites Satisfactory, but a lot of close low hanging trees. Be very CAREFUL when entering area and especially sites. I damaged my 5W on a low branch overhanging in the parking lot at the store.
Prices reasonable now but the campground was sold and may not exist after 2006.

PROS:
CONS: Many trees w/low hanging branches. BE CAREFUL

This is a great place, campground, restaurant, fishing dock. Great restaurant, we tried some gator last time we were there. They have a seafood buffet on the weekend. Very sad that the place was sold and they will no longer have a campground. The restaurant is suppose to move locations and they are still suppose to have a fishing dock. I don't know when the campground is suppose to close.
