Larry's Roadside Family Restaurant is a great, little family-owned restaurant that specializes in old-fashioned, home-style cooking. Located in a quaint building next to a mobile-home park and only a few miles south of Riverside Park (at the corner of US-1 and Old Dixie Highway), Larry's is the kind of restaurant your parents would have opened if they wanted to open one. The food is very tasty, cooked to order, and the portions are more than ample; I always end up taking some home with me.

The wait staff is friendly and always willing to bend over backwards to insure your visit is a good one. The decor is a late 1950's/early 1960's motif with background music to match, and there is plenty of seating that can easily accommodate one person or an entire family. I have been here three times so far in the last two years, and each time I had an excellent visit with good, wholesome food just like my mother would have made (I have to wonder sometimes if she was reincarnated as one of the chefs!). Food is always available for eat-in or carry-out. I personally recommend the liver and onions, and the open-faced hot turkey sandwich, but Larry's entire menu is very good and worth exploring. The seafood served here is mostly catch-of-the-day fare with a few regular menu items; can't go wrong with that. You'll also want to be alert for their all-you-can-eat spaghetti nights.

This is one place I recommend to everyone I meet along the Space and Treasure Coasts who is looking for a pleasant, down-home dining experience. You know a restaurant is good if many of the locals eat there, and this place is never empty. I live in Melbourne, about 25 miles north, and I consider Larry's Roadside Family Restaurant to be very worth my time and gas money to go out of the way for as a special treat.

If you're looking for a down-home-style roadhouse experience, you can't go wrong at Larry's!
