WORST EXPERIENCE WITH A VET EVER!!!! And trust me, I've had my fair share of lousy vets!! - I was playing with my 2 year old Shih Tzu in the back yard when he yawned in my face and I noticed a huge pink lump on the roof of his mouth way in the back (the roof of his mouth is black, so it stood out to me right away). Naturally, I started thinking the worse. After my husband, his dad (who lives with us) and I Googled some stuff (which I do NOT recommend doing unless you want to give yourself a panic attack) we decided he needed to go to the vet. We called our vet but they were closed on Wednesdays and Thursday our doctor had surgeries all day so we could drop our little guy off for the day or make an appoinment for Saturday. We were scared so agreed to dropping him off. After talking about it we decided we'd be more comfortable going to an appointment but didn't want to wait until Saturday. Our dog already has some anxiety issues and we didn't want to increase them. So Wednesday morning I called Lofton Creek, somewhere we had never been to but drove by thousands of times. They scheduled an appointment for that afternoon. We went in and filled out the paper work and went back to see Dr. Dunn. She came in and we told her how it looked him he had been chewing pink bubble gum and pressed it up on the roof of his mouth. Dr. Dunn and a technician tried to look in his mouth but could only get a glimpse of it because he was moving too much. Her response was that the only way they could get a good look at it was if he was under, but whatever it is, it doesn't need to be there so we should go ahead and schedule a surgery to remove it. I was a little hesistant scheduling a surgery with a doctor on our first visit, but she seemed to know what she was doing. So she gave us a sheet with a price and it was itemized so we could see what we were paying for and it was a fair cost. We were supposed to drop him off at 7:30 Thursday morning, but we both work at 7, so dear old dad took him. We had expected him to have to sign paperwork allowing them to do the surgery and he was listed at the emergency contact so it was ok. But as he was initialling things he got to a line that said "Microchip", he said, "Wait a minute what is this for?" They said that while the dogs are under they go ahead and microchip them. Both my dogs are already microchipped! He said I'm going to need you to tell me what each of these things are. They had added 5 things to the total that we hadn't agreed on!! 5 things that were completely unnecessary! He didn't sign for any of them but we went ahead with the surgery anyway. When I found out about this I was mad. Strike 1. Then they had said they were going to call us by noon to let us know how the surgery went. At 1:00 my husband called and said he still hadn't heard from them and that he was going to call. When he did, the woman at the front desk said, "Oh yeah, he came out of surgery fine and he's in the back resting." When he asked why they didn't call they said that the doctor still had other surgeries and that they would call when she was done with all of them. No... that's why they have administrative people in the front to notify worrying puppy parents!! Strike 2. When my husband went to pick up our little guy, they informed him that they didn't remove the lump. WHAT? That's what they TOLD us they were going to do! Thats what we PAID for them to do!! She said that she had thought that the lump was more dangily that it was, so they didn't want to remove it. They biopsied it instead. They took $40 off... as if that helps. So, IF it is something that needs to be removed, he's going to have to have ANOTHER surgery?! I was PISSED. STRIKE 3!!! But I wasn't there, so I didn't get to say my piece. They said the results would be ready "in a few days". So Tuesday, the following week, I called to ask when they thought they'd have the results in and the lady I spoke to said biopsy results usually take 2 weeks... HUH? Another thing that we were misled on. Strike 4 (this is getting ridiculous(! I am so over them at this point its unbelievable. However, they called my husband that Friday with the results. They said its not cancer, maybe a bacterial infection and he needs antibiotics. Saturday morning, we went to get a copy of the results. I bit my tongue not to go off on these people for poor customer service. We took the results to our regular vet on Monday and she said it sounds like he got bit or stung by a bug. After looking in his mouth (which he let her do without fussing because she's great with animals!), she confirmed that that was what she thought and she prescribed us some medicine for him. The moral of the story is that if you want to be lied to, go to Lofton Creek. If you want a EXCELLENT vet, go to Dr. Kim Carter at Nassau Veterinary Hospital!!!

I highly recommend Dr Dunn and her wonderful staff at Lofton Creek Animal Clinic. She is highly knowledgeable, kind, caring and personable. I have been to see her several times with my animals, and I have always been impressed with her concern for my animals. One had surgery and I got several calls to see how she was doing post surgery. Also, on a Saturday I was her last patient, and I locked my keys in my car. The office stayed open an hour longer than the closing time while they, including Dr. Dunn, assisted me in searching for my keys. They waited for a locksmith to come and help me retrieve my keys from my car so I would not have to wait in the heat near a vacant building. They are caring beyond belief. I highly recommened them to anyone who is searching for a caring, highly competent vet.

I've had three experiences with this hospital and all have been excellent. Most recently we took our oldest cat in when he lost some weight and had stopped eating. Dr Dunn saw us on the same day, we waited less than 10 minutes, they were within 25.00 of the estimate given for services (my cat needed surgery) and the staff was excellent.

We instantly got on well with the doc will continue to use Lofton Creek for our animal care in the future.

I'll also note that we did shop around after getting our estimate and we found the practice's prices to be right on with market rate and quite low compared to most. Our experience was 5 stars all around. We much appreciated the follow up calls from the staff after our cat left the practice, too.

I am amazed at both of these posts. My 7 yo lab was acting very tired on a Saturday morning. I called at 10:00am and they took me in as their last appointment of the day. Dr. Dunn felt all over my girl and told me that she thought there was a tumor. She took my girl back and x-rayed her and did a blood test. Now remember I was her last appointment. She personally did them and came back in with the results. My girl had some type of cancer. She gave me a hug and cried with me. On Monday morning I was supposed to take her back for more tests as they needed to keep her. When we brought her in at 8:00 am she had already talked to another Vet who specialized in cancer for dogs and she made arrangements for me to take her there. The specialist vet diagnosed my girl with Acute leukemia. We tried Chemo, but unfortunately it didn't help my girl. We had to put her down. That was truly the hardest and toughest time in my life. I've never felt so much pain for the loss of my girl. Within 2 days of putting her down (which was at the specialist she recommended an hour south of where I live) I received a card from Dr. Dunn and all of her staff. Because of the level of professionalism, knowledge, true concern, and selfless actions I could not recommend any other vet but Dr. Dunn. If she is more expensive I don't care, she has my business forever. I hope this post helps someone. Writing this review sparked a lot of emotions and I am crying while I write this remembering my girl. I never write reviews but after reading the other 2 reviews I felt I owed it to Dr. Dunn and her entire staff.

Not Only Is Dr Dunn Lazy She Also Is Very Expensive, Her Staff Seems To Be More Knowledgable Than Her. The Whole Time I Was There I Felt Like She Was Possible Hung Over And Had Better Things To Do. I Do Not Mind Paying For Good Service But Being Overcharged For Poor Service Is Not Accecptable. Dr Dunn Needs To Run Her Practice Better And Devote Her Self A Little More. I Would Recommend The Vet On Highway 17 4 Paws Pet Care. There Are No Cheap But You Get What You Pay For. Hope This Helps Some One.

If I were to "grade" Lofton Creek, I would give them a C. Although I am always able to get an appointment quickly at this vet, their prices seem quite high.
