Beautiful decor! They did a great job creating this restaurant in each details.
Barton G's is know for it's presentation, it is over the top! But it can be expensive; in all fairness you can eat there for a reasonable price, and still enjoy the decor of a 5 star place. For example the Short Ribs are amazing and at a great price; and the NY steak is excellent and priced accordingly; of course if you want the fancy stuff (HUGE lobster) be ready to pay for it!!
The only thing you gotta be careful is the drinking part... they are very expensive, and if you go for the nitrogen stuff it will cost you!! But in all fairness, again, the prices are on the menu, unlike many tourist traps! Even the wine list is a bit expensive.
Service is on point and knowledgeable, probably on of the best in SoBe, without the attitude!
If you go there on a nice evening, you gotta seat in the garden, it's very nice and romantic.
Great place for a birthday, or any celebration, especially when comes dessert time... no comment you gotta see it by yourself.
Great place for

Barton G is a place we take guests when they come to visit us in Miami Beach. It's beautiful out door dining, and the food is served with such flare. It's expensive, but worth the trip, and I highly recommend it.

This is probably one of the best fine dining restaurants in miami. The food is served in an modern american fashion including plates served with i-fish fouintains and even firehouse dogs. It is a contemporary place with great food the best part and probably the most expensive is the dessert. This is a must see restaurant.

I went to this restaurant last year and it was so much better..This time You could not read the menu, find the waiter, and forget about a dessert if you are a party with less than 4 people.. The food is very expensive and quality ok to poor// THE MOST APPALLING-- they use American "Valveeta"-type trans fat laden--so called cheese in their $23 for a small bowl of mac and cheese.. In fairness they did take this off our bill when we complained.
I was very sad to see this poor quality of food and service at a restaurant that I liked before...

My brother was in town and this is one of his favorite restaurants. He paid $200 for the Waygu Beef Steak which he said was like butter so of course he would be impressed. I had high hopes for this restauraunt so he made the reservation and I guess a combination of his $600 dollar tab last time and the slow economy we were able to make reservations the night before. They even remembered him by name (probably from computer look up) which is very nice touch. So we show up to $12 parking which should be expected and we were seated immediately and given the choice of inside or outside. We surveyed both first- inside was very plain, candle lit, and moderate sized with a bar on hand. Outside was the size of a small sized backyard filled with tall trees and tropical plants, candle lit tables, plastic chairs?!? but still romantic. Maybe too romantic because we couldn't even read the menu's and we had to ask for flashlights (apparently everyone has the same problem because I noticed several tables with the specially made lights). When we ordered water to drink the waiter, Julio, asked if he wanted still or sparkling water. We wanted plain still and under his breathe he walks away saying ok bottled water. I don't mind getting bottled water just don't hustle me into buying $7 voss waters when everyone else is sipping regular ice water. Ok now for the important part the food:
coconut shrip skewers appetizer- beautiful presentation with smoking vase and skewers coming out, only came with three jumbo shrimp and two dipping sauces- both fresh and fantastic but not worth $30
Sirloin Steak-probably the best bargain that we purchased, same mashed potatoes as below, juicy 12oz steak served on a wooden plaque with glass serving tray, $40
Off-menu Dry Aged Ribeye- AMAZING mashed potatoes, very cheesy, buttery, and good. Sub-par steak, with only slightly more flavor then the sirloin-couldnt find fat in the dark so left chewing a lot of it- not worth the $90!!!
Overall-Overrated-Avoid

Cons: service, value for the price, julio

Pros.
EXCELLENT presentation of food as well as very attentive and friendly service. When a desert comes that marshmellow on a stick with ice cream in the middle and they light a brick on fire used to melt the marshmellow and add chocolate, etc... it's hard not to drool. Or their fondue fountain, or the swordfish served up on an actual sword. Great restaurant, i highly recommend it for any birthday party!!

Cons.
Being such an extraordinary place it tends to bring a huge crowd and is always extremely packed and noisey. Not to mention the reservations having to be set at least three weeks in advance.

I have a degree in hospitality and also work in the industry, so unfortunately i'm spoiled when it comes to service. Not to say that im overly picky, but i know great service when i see it-Barton G. lacks this. I was very upset b/c i had read rave reviews about Barton G and his original/creative ideas and was looking forward to a phenomenal time, but it turned out to be mediocre to me mostly due to their service. I made reservations at 10pm two weeks prior (the first available time but i was so desperate to go, that i was willing to eat late). I showed up with my boyfriend and another couple at 9:45pm and this place was PACKED. It was filled with young girls dressed like sluts, and old rich men who looked like they left their wife and family back home just to chase the young (probably underaged) girls. There was dance music pumping loudly outside where the hostess was, i found myself screaming into her ear just to say " I HAVE A RESERVATION" and for her to tell me "WAIT BY THE BAR AND I"LL FIND YOU". I was a bit perplexed as to how the hostess would even remember my face in a club-like atmosphere, but i went ahead and did as was told. After waiting 30 minutes, and realizing that it was past my reservation time, i checked in with the hostess again. Only to be told that i would most likely have to wait an additional 45 minutes because they were too busy. I complained to her, what was the point of making a reservation only to wait an additional hour and a half to sit down?? I was very upset and decided to stand at the hostess table until she sat me down. Then a young couple walk in for their 10:45 reservation and the hostess seated them immediately. RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE! When i saw this, i went ballistic! I demanded to speak with the manager and after speaking with him, a table magically appeard, how convenient. The food was ok, a bit over priced. But after my horrible experience with just getting a table, i spent the whole night bitter and upset. Wont be back.

Pros: Entertaining Food presentations

Cons: They need to decide if they're a club or a restaurant

If the $12 valet parking fee doesn't make you turn around, you should. Barton G is just an average overpriced restaurant. $28 for an martini made with Absolute Vodka is rediculous, but not as rediculous as sitting outside in a plastic chair!. I went to Barton G with the full intent on loving everything about it...was I wrong!. The presentation is Fabulous, but DO NOT let that fool you. The food is nothing more than fair. There were not celebs there the night I went...for what we paid we could have flown to LA had better food anywhere and had much better people watching. Oh and by the way, if you didn't spend enough on food and parking, there is always the $40 cup of coffee with the certificate of authenticity. That $40 just for the coffee....no alcohol included and I'm sure there is not refill. If you're looking for a great place and a good meal....stay away from Barton G.

I had a good time at this restaurant, but I will never go there again. The taste of the food and quality of service were not even close to being on par with Barton G's very high price. Though I was having a good time, we were there for over three hours. The service was mediocre and slow. While the quality of service may have sufficed at TGI Fridays, I expect better at a restaurant like this. The presentation of the meals was great. I enjoyed seeing how my meal and dessert turned out, but it was really a one-time experience. The food was not great. It was edible and of high quality, but it just didn't taste spectacular. I have had better fish at Tarpoon Bend in Coral Gables for half the price. I also really enjoyed sitting outside ,and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great. While I enjoyed my experience, the below average taste of the food was disappointing.

3 friends and i went to south beach last year for a week on vacation during august. i decided to make reservations at Barton G because I had heard some about it (we live in NYC). we sat in the garden. i had the speared blackened shrimp which came on an actual spear with cauliflower mash and a honey corn popover. delish. among my friends were steak and ravioli which came in a beach setting. for dessert we had the sabrina sundae which was MASSIVE (and i can eat so trust me i'm not just saying massive) with brownies, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream, chocolate shavings, whipped cream and cherries. tremendous.

we then decided to go back on our last night. i had the shrimp again. my friends had filet mignons (with blue cheese crumbles=good). we had the fry quartet (sweet potato, regular, cottage, tater tots) which was plenty for the 5 of us and delicious w/ the dipping sauces. we got the fun-do appetizer which was $90 and the only thing we weren't impressed with. true it was huge but some of the items it came with (pound cake, pretzels, rice krispies) tasted old and while it was okay, for $90 you want to be blown away.

all in all- we loved this place!! and we forgive the fondue slip-up.

Ambience and presentation here absolutely cannot be beat. For that alone it's worth a trip. The food is very good, but you are paying more for the presentation than for the food. Service is very good, though most of the staff are very young for such an upscale place and it shows. Overall though, I love Barton G and it is definitely a can't miss in Miami dining.

Had a great time at Barton G, I can't think of another restaurant so full of fun surprises, starting with the chocolate Sabrina monkey hanging from the "SabrinaTini" to the swardfish served on an actual sword. Ambiance is always classy and fun with two zones, the more active indoors and the slower paced outdoors... something for any mood your in. Food is excellent with an ample menu, although pricey. Service was great, the wait staff is very friendly and will inform you if have ordered too much food, as some of the portions are rather large. Definately a great night out.

Flew down to Miami with my wife for her birthday weekend. Showed up for our 9 PM restaurant ontime. When I spoke with the Host when we arrived he immediately told me I am not going to sit you for over 30 minutes. He said that even though I had a reservation that he didnt care. He also said that he wouldnt even guarantee that he would sit me in 30 minutes. I walked around the restaurant and saw over 6 empty tables which I then discussed with the Manager. He said that he could not accomodate me because those empty tables were accounted for. At this point after 15 minutes of negotiating with these incompetent people, we left the restaurant.

We headed over to Bond St where we had a great meal, with even better, attentive service.

Big thumbs down to Barton G

The food on the menu is creative and different. The atmosphere is great and the decor is beautiful. You can tell your in Miami Beach. The contemporary architecture gives it away. I had the lobster pop-tarts, they were great. For my entree I had the sizzling brick chicken. The food is pricey but I enjoyed every bit of it

While the food was good the desserts are over the top and has to be seen and tasted. The ambience is nice and our waitier was sweet and very knowledgable. Nice Job! Great place fo a special occassion.

I recently dined at the Barton G on a business trip. My company had made reservations. As usual, checked out the restaurant on Citysearch and I almost cancelled the reservation because they had a few bad reviews. I have to admit that I came in with a bit of an attitude expecting the worse. Well, we were greeted warmly, seated on time. We were offered cocktails in just minutes. After my Grey Goose martini, I could not even remember having a bad attitude. The whole evening went very well and the food was terrific. If you have been hesitating to try the Barton G, I say go for it.

A once brilliant sun set lazily to the west while the cloud-stripped azure sky reflected an orange hue backdrop to the neon glow of deco-rises as we headed off to enjoy our must-do meal, rather "dining event," at the widely acclaimed B/G. The build up was formidable: raves from biz associate, decent web write-ups (missed the awful ones), & a nice reservation process and day-of confirmation. Initial impressions being what they are, we were there on a weeknite ~7:30 & the first person to welcome us warmly & open the door was a casually dressed man with a noticeable pack of Marlboro's tucked in his Van Heusen-esque shirt pocket. Once inside at the inviting bar, we were deftly served a round of drinks & nicely treated as newcomers. Even the hostess made us feel at ease & unhurried. Yet following our graceful entrance into the center ring- our joy began to jade. First off was the table for two. Set wider between two diners than it should be, we struggled to see each other & wondered if we'd be still be in the same zip code by meal's end. Not to worry, the hostess kindly moved us to another even more inviting corner table. But beware, as we were to find, it lack a back to the bench (only) seat. Awkward & unsuitable for a comfortable evening, we asked for & got a 2nd chair & my partner was at least upright to eat. Then came the Chopped Salad (decent by most stnds). But a bone-in rib eye for 2 turned out to be tough, under-cooked (almost raw) vs our M/R request & upon complaint they quickly took it back & it came out perfect pink yet the meat was still sinewy and chewy- we couldn't stomach it, not @ $100. As consolation, they threw in a free $29 Chocolate Grand Canyon, which tasted store-bought and although we took the remains to go, we found the nearest park to give it a home for some needy soul. Interestingly they called the next day to follow-up. Listening intently, I genuinely believe they were sorry. Service good yet forget sparklers & hoopla & just get the food right.

We made reservations for my 50th birthday, anticipating that we would be experiencing a one of a kind evening and were sorely disappointed! The servers were attentive, but other than the presentation, the food was humdrum and not much different that what you'd find at your local Chili's or TGIF's and at outrageous prices.

I had so anticipated celebrating a wonderful birthday and had heard about this restaurant but I can definitely say and do say to every one coming to town "Don't waste your money" over-rated, over-priced and nothing to recommend it at all (except for the decoration, although what is it this guy has with all the wacky animal stuff?) Not what you would expect for a sophisticated SOBE setting.

Save your money and go to TGIF, you will get the same type of food for a lot better price!

Cons: food was mediocre and over priced

Suburbanites, teenagers, tourists will be impressed. Great place to take your teenagers for their birthday. If you are looking for an actual South Beach restaurant experience, with an adult sophisticated crowd, avoid. The atmosphere and approach is so gimmicky, the wait staff nice but inexperienced. The food was tasty, but pedestrian. One thing that was unbelievably annoying: my wife simply asked for a substitution on the bbq ribs: she wanted cauliflower mash (which is on the menu with another item) instead of new potatoes. The waiter simply said, "no, we don't do that", and refused to do the substitution. "It would ruin the presentation". Ridiculous! We are talking bbq ribs for crying out loud. We live in San Francisco, eat at the nicest restaurants in that city, and in others, and there is one answer for that request: of course! These people need to read Danny Meyers book. Danny owns I think 13 restaurants in Manhattan, and understands customer service and hospitality. "Setting the Table: The Transforming Power of Hospitality in Business". Everybody who works at Barton G should read this book. By the way, if you ever go to Manhattan, go to any of Danny's restaurants... Union Square Cafe, Grammercy Tavern, Blue... among others. Barton G's would be a great Disney World restaurant. It belongs in Orlando, amongst the King Kong billboards, not in SOBE.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Barton G. recently. We were promptly seated and greeted immediately by our waitress Bronwyn. Without taking a breath, Bronwyn went down the list of specials and seemed to be very knowledgeable about the dinner and wine menus. Her suggestions were dead-on for the most part. We really enjoy our drinks (sinsation & pinot noir), meal (surf and turf - 2lb lobster with steak), and dessert (nak-d alaska - ice pops with merengue with assorted toppings and a fire). We were stuffed!

This place is very good however I think this place it better suited for parties 4 or more. The portions are so large that they can be shared among 4. Especially the desserts. The desserts were not "couples friendly". Though we slurged for this meal ($370), we felt very good about our experience at Barton G.

I had the opportunity to dine at Barton G in Miami recently while in town to attend my son's wedding. I went on a Tuesday evening and dined under a covered patio where I enjoyed a wonderful meal and a magical dinner presentation.
I enjoyed the first evening so much that I took a large group of family members the following Sunday.
We were seated at a table on the patio that was uncovered except by the canopy of large trees. As we were looking at the menus, a bird dropped a large "deposit" on one of my guests menus (which splattered over his napkin and silverware). The waiter came up from behind, threw a napkin on the table and acted as though it was no big deal. We had to ask for new silverware and water and really expected to have the tablecloth changed but the waiter saw no need for this. The unbelievable part was that this happened two more times (in my guest's hair and and in his entree). We voiced our disgust and concern about the location of the table and asked about moving (by then my dining companion had lost his appetite) but were told this NEVER happened and was just an unfortunate night. However, from the cavalier way it was handled, we were pretty sure this is a regular occurrence at the restaurant. I suggested that umbrellas would be a good solution to this problem to protect the guests but was told they were too expensive and that the wind would lift them away. The whole attitude of the restaurant staff that night (including the manager) was arrogant and dismissive. After spending almost $900.00 on dinner I would have thought there would have been better customer service however there was none. My suggestion would be if you plan to visit Barton G Miami and are seated on hte patio, make sure your guests bring a rain coat and umbrella, some of their presentations are a little over the top........

Just took my little one there for her 4th birthday and it will be one she?ll always remember. The service was fantastic; everyone made sure that she felt like a princess, the waiter (Nicolas) went above and beyond. The food was great, highlighted by the 2lb rock lobster tail, which is more than enough for two big eaters. The host recommended the chocolate fountain for dessert, my daughter almost jumped out of her seat when they brought it out. Although pricey ($90) it was bigger than what I have see at some weddings! It served 7 people for dessert and a ton of fruit, cake, etc was still left over. Barton G?s defiantely makes for memorable events.

I went to Barton G with friends while on vacation. We were a party of 8 and our reservations were immediately accomodated. The waittress was extremely pretty and completey attentive to our needs. We had amazing wine, and the below-zero nitro bar drinks were SPECTACULAR! My favorite was the rose tasting one, forgot the name. I had the pork-chops, which were undoubtedly the BEST chops i've ever had, if you can call it a chop. My friends had a variety of things - all of which were spectacular-tasting (except the filet mignon, it was just OK).
The place was pretty expensive, but completely worth it for a special occasion. Ambiance gets a 10 as well. try it out!

Yes this restaurant is pricy, but it was worth every penny. Food was delicious, service was great, food presentation was exceptional, atmosphere romantic and relaxing(ask to be seated in the garden), and the dessert was priceless...I highly recommend the cheesecake with the cheesecake lollipops. If you're tired of the same old boring high class restaurants with no style you must go and check out Barton G's. They make food fun!!! This restaurant is definately a great place to impress a date. I'm definately going back!!!

We had reservations at Barton G's for a special ocassion dinner. We confirmed the reservation twice, including once on the day of the dinner. We were actually looking for an earlier time -- and as per the restaurant's suggestion, we arrived earlier.

When we arrived, we were told that "if something opens up, we'll be seated earlier". We proceeded to the bar, which was overcrowded, with absolutely no place to sit and barely a place to stand. It was raining that night (the rain started a couple of hours earlier), and soon it became apparent that the restaurant was overbooked based on the outdoor sitting that was no longer available. There were crowds of people in the bar, including families with tired children. We overheard that folks were there for up to an hour past their reservation time. People were tired and frustrated and grumbling that none of them had been warned about the delays when the rain started.

After waiting for about 45 minutes (and about 20 minutes past our reservation time), we inquired when we'd be seated and were told that it would be between 25-45 minutes more. One of the people in our party was a senior who had trouble standing for so long -- but when we asked for a chair for him, we were told that providing a chair "would not be within the restaurant's competence". We asked why we weren't told about this delay by phone -- or at least when we arrived. The response was this is just how things are when it rains. There was no apology or offer of compensation (e.g. a free drink or a free desert). Frustrated, we decided to not wait any longer. We asked if the restaurant would compensate our parking costs, but even that ask was refused. We mentioned that we didn't believe that this was the right way to run a business and that we'd be complaining -- to which the Maitre D's response was "Please Do".

Overall, this was not a good experience.

I have been to this restaurant twice and both times I enjoyed my self immensley. The service is excellant and attentive and the food and presentation are out of this world. Try the voodoo shrimp appetizer, which comes out steaming. Also, make sure you save room for the desserts, which are delicious and entertaining. My only gripe with this place is how difficult it is to get a reservation. I called three weeks before my birthday and had only two options for reservations: 6:00 or 10:45, but it's not surprising that it's hard to get in here.

Barton G is known for the presentations, which are nice, but the food is not even ok.
The fish we ordered was burned on the bottom and others in our party--who unfortunately were there before-- were as well totally dissappointed. It is very costly, and we watched the presentation at other tables..very show biz .....but we won"t return. a combination of bad food and extremely poor service.
Not recommended!

This little gem is away from the hustle and bustle of most restaurants, but it's better than almost of them. A secluded restaurant with a great ambiance and spectacular food. Service was good, with the main drawback being that it is somewhat overpriced. Great place for a small group or special occasion.

Had dinner last night @ Barton G The Restaurant to celebrate a very special occasion. I don't know where to begin... I've traveled the world, and yet to see such unique presentations. But wait, there is more. The presentations are backed-up by top-quality food, worthy of a world-class restaurant. Who would of thought such a combination would exist in the trendy come and go Miami Beach scene. The finale is the absolutely beautiful atmosphere and elegant but not pompous service. A must-go when visiting South Beach.

i've been to barton g a few times and I have never been let down. The food is FANTASTIC. The tuna tartare is amazing and the desserts are beyond words. This place is literally like Dr.Suess for adults. There is no better place to have a special dinner in Miami. I dine out in nice places a lot and this place is an experience. No one I've ever sent there had a single bad thing to say.

We celebrated a friends birthday at Barton G and let me tell you we were highly impressed. We sat in the garden(which is a must). The food was a sight of delight! The presentation was the most creative I had ever seen. We had the Voo Doo shrimp which was great! We had the Lobster Pop Tarts which was fabulous! We finished off our meal with a fabulous Chocolate Fountain Dessert! The service was very good. Not the typical South Beach attitude, which was refreshing! A GREAT place to bring out of town visitors!

Although it was one of the most expensive meals we've ever had, it was well worth it! We were on vacation and met up with friends. The service was incredible-our waiter was charming, funny and attentive. The food was outstanding. Everything was exciting to see and delicious to taste. The duck was tender and sweet, the french fry sampler was great too. The pork with apple donuts was superb. Desserts are enormous so save room and share. I've reccommended this place to everyone I know visiting Miami and no one has been disappointed. I cant wait to go back there.

Dined with friends for a special dinner, and what a treat! Visually the restaurant is a treat for the eyes; the service was exemplary and flawless. The food and presentation is a multi-sensory experience.

Highly recommended night out for either a group of friends; or a romantic dinner in their lovely Orchid Garden.

Wonderfully creative cocktails at the beautiful onyx bar, and don't forget to leave room for the impressive and delicious desserts.

We arrived on time and were asked to wait 10 minutes. After 20 minutes someone came out to us and ask if we needed help. I started getting a little annoyed. I told him we were asked to wait a few minutes for a table. He left and came back 5 minutes later to tell us he wasn't sure how long the wait will be, maybe 15 minutes, maybe a 1/2 hour. Of course at this point we were livid. We spoke with the first host and he told us he couldn't do anything about it. We left and they really didn't care. Restaurant can't handle their reservations. It worked out for the best. They seemed to cater to much older Don Johnson wannabees. Even the men had see through clothes. Sorry don't want to see grandpa in sheer pajamas!

Barton G is a beautiful restaurant with subpar service and mediocre food. We were rushed through our meal, given bottled water ($12!!) when we asked for tap, and the food was lackluster and waaaay overpriced. Not to mention they charge for valet parking. The signature dishes are ostentatious and hokey, and it's obvious that the crowd doesn't know any better. The restaurant's namesake is not a restauranteur, and the quality of the food is the result. There are so many great places in South Beach - save your dime and avoid Barton G's.

I went to Barton G. several nights ago and it was fabulous! The service was great, the food was delicious, and the presentation was amazing. You must have dessert - so delicious and entertaining. We got a baked alaska that fed four (2 pieces each!) and had a big chocolate monkey dressed like the Statue of Liberty holding lit sparklers on top - over-the-top. It was called the "Freedom Chimp". Portions are huge, so share appetizers and dessert. Drinks are very good but expensive.

Barton G. is an event impresario with a reputation for over-the-top theatrics (like the giraffes, from his own private zoo, that highlighted the restaurant's grand opening). So it's almost disappointing that his eatery's interior---swathed…
