beachplace is awsome  5 Star Rating - World class

beachplace is the ultimate hang out hotspot in fort lauderdale, beachplace is a huge outdoor shopping mall that overlooks the beach, it has multiple stories so you can climb up to the top, eat dinner at one of the great resturants on the 3rd floor like hooters for one. lots of great stores to shop in and great places to eat. very great place to hang out or go on a date.

BEACH PLACE FORT LAUDERDALE  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Having never been to Beach Place in Fort Lauderdale, we took freinds down to grab a evening meal and spend a little time at a piano bar. After wandering around the stores (over 1/3 of the store fronts are covered with paper and not open) we glanced at the menu for the half dozen choices for food. In the end we chose Lou Lou's Bait Shack for its New Orleans styled dining choices. BIG MISTAKE The waitress warned us that several of the Cajun items were hot and to take it into consideration when ordering. The Jambalaya was terrible. It consisted of white rice, tomatoes, lightly smoked sausage and no spices. The Nacho's that came with blackened chicken, was more like chicken that had been over cooked and was dry with only a hint of being spiced. The establishment smelled like beer had been spilled on the floor for years and was never cleaned up. On the plus side, the view of the Atlantic Ocean was spectacular! Around 9 p.m. we headed towards Howl at the Moon to enjoy a drink and a little piano music, but discovered no patrons in the bar yet. Since there was no one at the pianos, no crowd was present and we were not sure when a crowd would arrive on a Sunday night we left. Steer Clear - there are too many places to dine in Fort Lauderdale and the view was not enough to offset the terrible food!

PROS: Great View of the Atlantic Ocean
CONS:

Beach Place ~ A Lauderdale Tourist Trap  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

Beach Place is a kinda mall located right on scenic A1A and across the street from the beautiful Atlantic ocean. It's a bit of a combination restaurant hot-spot and over-priced shopping.

Spanning three stories, this is where you can find places such as Hooters, Lulu's Bait Shop, and Howl At The Moon. All have basically the same sort of foods, leaning towards fish and beachy items... and all have a spectacular view of the ocean at night.

Along with the usual chains you will find, well, chain stores. There is a Black & White here, along with the requisite Sunglass Hut, a Smoke shop, Several coffee shops, Ice Cream parlors, a Surf Shop, and a few novelty places like one to buy things your dog would never need in a million years.

Scattered throughout all of this are little local kiosks selling beach dresses, sarongs, braided jewelry, and the like.

What sets this apart is that on Wednesday nights they have free movies in the center courtyard. They set up a screen and it's up to you to secure a seat at one of the too-few cafe tables. They show movies which mainly have just gone out of the theaters, but have not yet been released on DVD. One weekend during the summer they actually take the screen out and set it up in the sand. That is really cool.

Not a bad place to look around or see one of their movies, but there are numerous better restaurants up the strand, and much cheaper souvenirs too....

PROS: Great location, free movies
CONS: Stuff is over priced
