Ordered for take out. the samosas were ok, the potato bread was bland and my dish, the kadhi pakora was just inedible. I am familiar with Indian dishes and know that you find full pieces of spices in the dish but every bite i took of this dish had gritty pieces of spice. it was not clear where the flavor was going with the dish because it was overwhelming and the spices did not go together. Took three bites and could not eat it anymore. As for service, guy on phone sounded as if he was annoyed to take my order and didn't even get a thank you when i picked up the food.

The worst Indian food I think I have ever tried. Just a bunch of spices mixed together - there was no authentic Indian taste. Dal was lentils with water, dosa was saturated with oil, tandoori chicken did not taste "safe". I am really surprised - Frommer's ranks it well, but I would NEVER suggest going here. I'm not sure how freshly cooked the food is - has a few days old taste to it. Sambar was different and most edible item. Also, surprising to see an Indian restaurant serving BEEF meatball curry? Save your time, money, and aggravation.

If you are a first time eater of Indain food then this would seem to be good but I have never been so disappointed as I was with the lack of taste and the poor quality of the food. I ate one of their signature dishes and it had not flavor and was not good. The samosa was also not good. The bread was burned. I did tell the lady on the front desk and she said she would tell the manager but when they came with the check not a word was mentioned about my complaint. I left the restaurant hungry and disappointed never to return again. They have lost my business and everyone I know. I wasn't looking for a free meal just for someone to maybe offer me something else or an apology I got neither.

So we were visiting Miami from NYC in March, Our plans were to go on a 3 day cruise! We got into town a few days early so we could be tourists and look around! My wife and I really enjoy India food especially since New York is full of Indian restaurants. We tried Guru and Ishq on the beach and I'll tell you one thing.. they don't know how to cook REAL Indian food at all! It was pretty bad! Then we tried Mint Leaf since the cab driver could not find House of India and we were once again disappointed with the food quality and service! It was worse then the first two! At this point we were so fed up with bad Indian food that we just decided to go to Denny's on Monday, our last day before the cruise and what do ya know... We found House of India restaurant right next door and decided to give a whirl! So we go in and were promptly greeted by a nice hostess! Then the nice gentlemen took our order and assured us that the food would taste good and we let him know that we have been told that before and were disappointed 3 times! So the food comes out and For Sure the food was amazing and so tasty! I thought to myself ?? Wow this is really good Indian food!? I can honestly say that House of India surpasses any Indian restaurant I have tried in New York hands down! We asked to speak to the chef and out comes this very young guy who was cooking that Monday! We gave him our compliments and let him know that he knows how to cook! I was kicking myself in the butt throughout the whole cruise for not finding House of India earlier because we wasted a lot of money on horrible food at those other restaurants for the first two days! And let me just tell you the Mango Lassi they serve is the best lassi I have ever tasted I my life! It was so Good! We will definitely be coming here again next time we are in town! 5 Stars!

We love India food and we have tried just about every Indian restaurant in Miami and i have to tell you, hands down House of India has the best India food in town! There is no comparison to what they have to offer and the variety is great too! Yes the service could be a bit better but how many Indian restaurants do you know of that have GREAT service? None! I went to Anoka in the Grove and on top of the below average food, they have no clue of what service is! And Mint Leaf is even worse because they charge an arm and a leg for the food! House of India has good prices, good portions and good food! I highly recomend House of India if your looking for good food and not royalty service! Just remeber it is an Indian restaurant so if you cant handle spicy food then dont ask for them to make it spicy and then complain that its too spicy!!
The table that sat down next to us did that.. What idiots they were! Who in their right minds does that???! It made me and my wife laugh!

Pros: Good Food and reasonable prices.. and the Lunch buffet is the BEST!

Cons: Parking in Coral Gables is Horrible

My wife and I have been dining at Indian Restaurants our entire life, and House of India is one of the best. I laugh when I read these negative reviews because if a restaurant is as bad as they say it wouldn't be open for 35 YEARS!!! Please people get a life. This place has been a staple in Miami for great Indian food. Out of 100 customers you'll always find 1 or 2 idiots who complain, they'll find any reason to complain, and then try to hurt a restaurant by writing these reviews. Don't listen to the idiots try for yourself. This place is great and you won't regret it!!!
By the way, why shouldn't they serve beef? This is America, and 95% of their clients are non-Indians. I suppose they shouldn't serve liquor either since most Indians don't drink.

The worst service ever! SLOW does not even cover it. If you like to eat and drink of dirty dishes with food still on the glassware and plates, then this is the place for you. They ran out of rice when we ate there, and decided to completely ignore us instead of telling us. They served food with no rice, and ran. We had to go find our server who told us they had no rice. The restaurant if very dirty. The back dumpster is filthy, full of grease and rodents. The dumpster is visible from parking lot. The management is very rude too. Very defensive, instead of being helpful and problem solving. DON'T GO HERE!

Exteremely poor. Rude and manerless staff. First and foremost they should learn some manners. This is the first place where i ever heard the cost of cleaning table cloth. We had ordered to-go and when we reached there we felt like having apetizers there and i was told for apetizer we will not allow you to dine. He tells me the cost of cleaning table cloth is 42 cents, i could not believe this. I felt like giving them some money. Whatever we bought was ordinary. Definitely worth a miss. Save your money. there are many other better restaurants

This was the first indian rest. I went to in Miami, the owner just like the person below me mentioned, is careless, we had to stand up there waiting and he didn't even care to ask us table for how many, until we approached him ! We said table for two, and then he told the waiter table for three. The menu had so much variety, so I said that's great, it might make up for the rude wait.

We sit down and I order chicken tikka masala, beleive me, I've had better MUCH MORE delicious chicken tikka masalas sold in small food-court restaurants. It was way below average, the masala was very thin-watery like, and the rice was plain white rice, you couldn't smell the aroma of a nice indian cooking. the sambosa was average. We ordered drinks & it took forever to get here, by the time we finished food. We had to call three different waiters.

Would not go there again. I'd rather cook it at home, or eat it frozen.

The owner here does not care about the customer. From the moment you walk in, you are not acknowledged, despite having made eye contact with the owner. You are made to feel, as if you where imposing on the owner. The owner just has way too much attitude, not the type of person whom should be in such a people related business. Despite being mid week, and plenty of tables, we where still made to wait, having our meal ordered took another 15 min, I finally stared at the owner, and he took our order (with an attitude). The food was okay, but not at par for the price they charge. Lamb was very rubber like, beef curry was better. Waiter was amicable, but by then, our mood was fouled. The only thing harder to swallow than their rubber lamb, was the $50 + bill for a lousy dinner. Would never come back here again, and highly advise others, to save your money and go somewhere better.

For those who are somewhat new to Indian food, House of India is a good place to come by. The restaurant has a couple options that offer a group of entrees which resemble a typical Indian dinner. For those who know what to order, House of India has very tasty offerings at hand. In my opinion, House of India has never dissappointed me as far as taste goes. It is true that service may be slow sometimes, or that they will forget to bring your tea if not reminded, but overall it is a great restaurant and one I visit very often because it has some of the best food in town. Add to that the tastiest and largest Indian lunch buffet for under $10, and you have a loyal customer.

Me and My family travel alot and we know first hand that there are very few good Indian Restaurants around. House of India was one of the best Indian Restaurants I have ever been to in the US or UK!
My visit was perfect! We ended up at House of India on a wednesday and the wait staff took care of us like family! Prompt seating, great service, good portions and all with a smile! The young hostess who took our order was very nice and polite. She answered all of our questions and explained items very well! I do admit, we kinda gave them a hard time but I didnt expect them to be so nice! The tall waiter served our food like a true professional and he also smiled alot and explained everything! We had appitizers, main course, deserts, and chai! Everything was GREAT! we look forward to coming to Miami and visiting again! Thank you House of India!

Worst indian buffet on the planet...absolutely atrocious. No flavor, poor selection, no spices, mostly sauce/oil and an occassional chunk of low quality meat. i am about to shred butt because of them. i've had dinner there once before and it was also sub-par compared to Imlee, which is a fine, fine Indian restaurant (but a little more expensive)

The wait on a Saturday eve at 8:30PM was 25 min (MY BAD didnt reserve no big deal).
The Appetizer I ordered never arrived.
The entre was Chicken Tikka - it was tasteless (a very hard thing to accomplish with Indian food) it was also dried out.
The Basmati rice was of poor quality
After finishing (what I could) I had to wait another 20 minutes before I could get a waiter to approach my table and then wait for the check.

I'm a business traveler and I spend aprox 2 weeks on the road every month visiting my company's satellite offices (there are 35 across the country). I love Indian food and try to find an Indian restaurant in every City I visit.

The food at House of India was THE WORST Indian food I have ever had ANYWHERE in the US (this includes at least 30 Cities).

I recently had the pleasure of eating at House of India. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the kafta kabobs, basmati rice and delicious vegetable plates.. The tandoori chicken would of been my only complaint. I've been to several restaurants that specialize in tandoori, and this wasn't one of those places. The chicken was dry and it was a sliced breast you can pick up at the local Publix, with a flavoring added to it. Very disappointed. The restaurant doesn't fill up fast so there is plenty of seating. All in all, I enjoyed it.. But I would pass on the tandoori chicken.

The chicken was dry and it was a sliced breast you can pick up at the local Publix, with a flavoring added to it. Very disappointed. The restaurant doesn't fill up fast so there is plenty of seating. All in all, I enjoyed it.. But I would pass on the tandoori chicken.

Pros: Everything was amazing, except....

Cons: Tandoori Chicken..
