I am a former employee with Lincare. I was fired yesterday. I was seen smoking in a company vehicle. Of course this was my own fault and of course I admitted it. Now normally I would say ok it's my own dang fault and let it go with that, but now I have learned that several drivers have been seen doing the same thing and have been written up for (worse) than this and they are still working for Lincare. Is it because I am a 59 year old woman? I dont know. I do know that they are going to be closing my branch. Anything to do with that? I have never had any kind of black mark on my record for anything. Several of my pts. have told me that if it wasnt for me they would have left Lincare already. I have been working in this field for almost 20 years and sure didnt think I would go out like this.

Ahhhh Lincare....the last review sounds pretty accurate. I currently work there doing the same, developing a new territory. However, I'm in a Northern state. It's amazing how anti-progress Lincare is. In 2010, how many people trying to start a new business that's woven into hospitals, insurance companies, fellow employees, business contacts, etc, etc....don't have laptops!?!? Yes, you read it correctly. No laptops. In order for me to tie into the network, address my reimbursement nightmares, correspond with mgmt., and log all my sales calls from the previous week....I have to drive an hour to the office & get all of this stuff done in 1 day, so I can keep on making sales calls & growing the business. Then, if I am called out of the office to go do a set up that results from a Dr. writing me into a Rx....I've gotta drop what I'm doin' & GO!!! "What about office work & turning in expenses??" DO IT NEXT WEEK...GO!!! You get to finance the companies marketing with your families credit card, do all the driving with your families car....& hope that the commissions that YOU'VE EARNED make it on to your paycheck!! Yeah, that's right, one more thing to keep track of.....it's one hell of a company. If your considering coming aboard...run!! If you're already here...get your experience & BOLT!! It's 2010, they're at least 40 years behind the times.

My son has a Business and Marketing degree from the University of Alabama. He worked for Lincare from January to the end of June of this year. He was responsible for the Tuscaloosa, Alabama area, but was "managed" out of the Birmingham office. Because Tuscaloosa was a new territory, he had to start from scratch to develop a marketing plan for the area. He enjoyed what he did and was just becoming successful and developing contacts in the area. But he noticed that the office staff in Birmingham (CSR's) were constantly complaining about having to "service" the Tuscaloosa area, and that they were being extremely rude to his customers, when they called with questions about the forms. At one point, one of the CSR's told my son in a Monday morning meeting (right in front of the office manager, Vanessa) that all the "doctors and nurses in Tuscaloosa were just stupid, and couldn't figure out how to do a form correctly." Vanessa just sat there and said nothing. My son was shocked. He then began getting feedback from some of the medical office staff in the area that they did not want to do business with Lincare because every time they sent a form in or called for help, the CSRs treated them very rudely and were very uncooperative. At one point my son told me that he was having to do "damage control" almost as much as he was having to work to "develop his area" and was constantly ??apologizing?? for their rude behavior. To make matters worse, the CSR's then started complaining to the office manager that it "wasn't fair" that the sales people got off on Friday afternoon since all the Doctor's offices were closed, and they still had to work. To appease the CSRs, the office manager, Vanessa, told the sales people that on Friday afternoons, they would have to drive to the Birmingham office and help "clean the office" and help the CSR's with their "filing". The sales people in Birmingham had a fairly short drive to and from the office, but my son had to drive all the way from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham every single Friday and was told to "empty the trash and carry it out", help sweep up, and even did filing for the CSR's who never seemed to be able to catch up on their work. My son was so frustrated, he finally just gave up trying to work and develop his area, because he felt that the Birmingham office was trying to undermine him at every turn. At one point, he was in a Monday morning meeting, and he was discussing the fact that the CSR's needed to be more "professional and helpful" on the phone because he was getting complaints from the nurses and office managers he was dealing with. He commented in the meeting that they were the customer and that they (the CSR's) should be doing whatever it took, to please the customer. Vanessa looked over at him and said point blank in front of everyone, "We're doing THEM a favor by taking care of their needs, not the other way around!" My son was so stunned at the lack of professionalism on all levels at the Birmingham office, that he avoided going there as much as he possibly could. My son turned in his resignation and has been working for a new compnay since the first of July. Even after a full month of being gone, he is still missing mileage reimbursement checks for January, February and March (about $600 worth) and a $350 reimbursement expense for a doctor's luncheon/meeting. Although he has made numerous calls to both the Birmingham and Montgomery office, he continues to be given the runaround. The manager he spoke with in Montgomery last week told him that they were cutting the checks that day, and that they would be there by Friday (the 27th). It is now Tuesday (the 31st) of the following week, and he has yet to see his checks. We are beyond angry. We are now ready to contact an attorney. We have copies of all the paperwork going back to every reimbursement that he has been cheated out of. Not only will Lincare be reimbursing my son for these expenses, they will be reimbursing him for "mental duress, stress, months of cell phone calls trying to track these checks down, time away from his new job to constantly have to call these crooks about his missing checks, interest on the money they refuse to give him and all of our attorney fees." I cannot believe that a company can continue to operate in such an unprofessional manner, and actually continue to stay in business. And yes, I do plan on posting these comments on every single website I can find that has anything to do with Health Care - because I want EVERYONE to know what it is really like to work for this Company, if only to save someone else from making the same mistake that my son made.
