Our first impressions of the school were pretty good: Honor, Courtesy, Integrity, etc. After a few months of a trial period, we signed up for a three-year contract, and our child excelled. Then, when the school grew and moved to a larger location, it was so crowded and noisy that it became impossible to hear the instructor. Sparring became unmanageable, belt tests arbitrary. Our child, who is usually confident and calm, became upset and started crying before and after every class. This negative situation lasted for three months, at which time we decided to withdraw from the school.

However, add soon as we signed the contract, our account had been referred to a financial service agent, Member Solutions of Jenkintown, PA, basically a collection agency. Park's claimed that even if we were dissatisfied, there was nothing they could do about the payments and charges. The conversations with them became heated: they go louder and louder until it was frankly intimating, and I realized that, after all those anti-bully defense classes, their manager had become the bully they had warned me about. Integrity? Hello?!

The Better Business Bureau had given this place an F for the past three years, mostly due to billing complaints. I should have checked that rating BEFORE signing a long-term contract. Don't make the same mistake I made.

I wouln't recommend this school to any of my friends. As previously stated the philosophy of this school is to make sure you spend as much money as possible through Belt promotions and events and lengthy contracts. Many of the kids are promoted without achieving or learned much. If you are serious about your kids learning martial arts do him a favor and find another place.

I was there when this Jason B made disrespecteful comments in the lobby. He was asked to leave because he was unruly and rude in front of children and parents. Park's is an excellent academy and my family has been attending for many years. My advice... go check them out personally.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are much better and more ethical establishments out there.

As others have already stated it is all about the money. Be prepared for one hard sell after another. The objective is to get you to commit to a long term contact at a ridiculously high price. Make sure you understand the contract before signing. Beware of the quick belt promotions and understand the implications of this on your contract.

Do yourself a favor and find another place.

I wanted my child wanted to take karate so I looked around being an officer I am picky therefore I wanted to choose a school that was going to teach my child self defense along with some discipline and respect. I looked at five different schools and decided on Park's. No one had the professionalism and the organization that they had, their facility is big, nice and clean.

I enrolled my children there and then I decided to start, I am a Black Belt from another discipline, when it was time to fully enroll, I decided to check out all other schools, to my disappointment many of them were mom and pop and did not match up to the standards to Park's, not to mention none of them came close to the caliber of Park's facility. It's a far superior school from my experience.

Great class size. Our kids visited during summer camp last year and asked to go back.

They have been going since February 2010 and they love learning from the instructors.

Awesome place for the little kids.

I would like to thank the instructors at Park??s Tae Kwan Do for reaching out to children like my son. It has helped him immensely with his self confidence, self value, self discipline and given him a constructive outlet that has turned his life around! He has brought his grades up, his teacher now call me to brag about what a great job he is doing in school and how he has made such a total change in attitude since attending your school. As a single parent, positive male roll models in my son??s life have really been a key factor in helping him to gain an idea of what he might like to be like when he grows up. The instructors reaching out and offering their time to him as needed for one on one mentoring lets him know that your staff cares enough about him as an individual that he has bonded and felt comfortable with staff. He now faces his problems with a better frame of mind and more self control than I ever thought I would see him able to do! I believe Park??s Tae Kwan Do has gone above and beyond teaching martial arts, you are teaching life skills and making a difference in the lives of those who are enrolled in your school and in your community. I see the difference you have made in my son, I for one am grateful for the changes I see and the possibilities ahead of him because of those changes!
Heart felt Thanks to all the instructors and those involved in making Park??s Federation a success center and life changer!

Before my child joined Parks, due to his add he has had behavior and other challenges. Now he has been a student for a year and what a difference child he has become. His teacher has called me and told me how much he has come along with his behavior and his grades. Parks was the greatest thing I could have done for my child.

I am a black belt at Parks and have been a student there for years. I have seen lot of schools through the years and reading these reviews makes me even more proud of my school. Park's being the caliber of the organization that they are and the amount of student body they possess, its bound to happen soon or later you're gonna get few unhappy people, I am a business owner and that's reality. Bottom line!!go see for your self, you will see the difference from all the rest then Parks! facility speaks for it self, its state of the art, clean and most important safe environment. Instructors are the masters from korea and they are all certified, lot of schools are not certified nor associated with an accredited organization. I assure you Parks is the best school out there.

I had a child who needed help fast. This school gave us hope. Park's took us in and after Master Park worked with us, my son didn't need all of the medications that the doctors gave him. My son learned respect, confidence, and is overall a better person. This school changed my life for the better.

I am an old student and loved being in Parks, I ended up being a 2nd degree black belt, and loved it. Because of Parks, I have learned how to be a better person physically and mentally. My training lasted 8 years ages of 5-13. I was successful later in track and for the athletic parts, step (dance) for the memory and movement. I am currently Student Government, at Mr. Blanche Ely (my school). Master Park has helped me to mature, strive to set and achieve my goals. I hope to come in and visit some day real soon! thank you for all you have taught me! -Blake Bailey

My sons have been with Park's for 10 years and we have been pleased with the investment into their personal development. My youngest is now a 3rd degree black belt and my oldest is candidate for a 3rd degree black belt. The oldest has to re-test because he did not meet all of the requirements of achieving that belt so he is working hard to test again in Nov. I highly recommend the school for students. They reinforce what they teach, are very professional, have a highly skilled teaching staff, run a tight ship, start classes on time, are firm but fair, are very consistent and worth the investment. It has not been easy on our wallet, but we made sacrifices to keep our sons in because we have seen how effective their skills obtained at Park's have carried over into their school achievements. Both are in their school and county orchestras and both are honor society students who are focused on being successful in life. What impressed me most recently was Master Park calling a one-on-one meeting with my oldest son, who is now 17 and preparing for college next Fall. My husband sat in on the meeting and witnessed the excellent way in which Master Park opened up to share his personal life experience of when he was 17 and the importance of setting goals for the future and never giving up. The meeting lasted for over an hour and he spent time making sure that my son was well aware of the challenges that will face him in life and how to avoid those who are not focused and give up, never finishing what they started. I had respect for the Park family long before then, knowing the impressive past of Grand Master Park, the family's patriarch but after the life talk that Master Park gave my son, I was even more impressed. All of the instructors have been phenomenal throughout the years we have been enrolled. In my opinion, one of the challenges of being a student in this school is becoming a black belt and then being in the Masters classes. It takes time and patience to reach these levels but I would suggest patience and commitment to achieving this goal. The classes are smaller as students advance and the forms become more challenging and students must work hard to pass. Good preparation will yield success and that lesson can be applied to life and teaches students to be held accountable. That's invaluable... I hope this provides a little more insight on our family's experience.

Business Response:

Thank you! Cheri H. I am happy you took the time to post your experience with our viewers. Park's Tae Kwon Do has been in Broward County for over 30 years now. We have been in business for so long because of parents like you who support their child's commitment. Thanks again!!

I have my 2 boys going to Parks TKD for just over 1 year.... I have never had the problems listed below.. The instructors have all taken considerable interest in both boys both personally and in their martial arts. Master Parks always asks for the boys and how they are doing... YES I PAID THE MASTERS PROGRAM FEES IN FULL.... Yet they still take an interest. It could be that my boys are actually GOOD....

I'm reading some of these reviews and all I read is these folks complaining about money. Many of you complainers say you have not learned any forms. I have been going there for 3 months and have been taught 2 forms, various kicking techniques and defensive moves. The instructors are the best. This is a business you know...the values they are teaching the kids is well worth the money and better than any league sports in your town. The price you pay monthly includes your entire family...there are not many sports that a family can participate in all together which is the main reason we joined. IMO you get what you pay for and Park's is a great school and has an awesome staff. (I am not in any way affiliated with Park's)

The people who are writing negative comments about the school are doing so because they did not honor their child's commitment. Every business wants to succeed, including Park's. How do you think the electric bill gets paid? Tuition!!!

Don't listen to other comments written on this site. Go to others then go to Park's, see the difference yourself. I have been attending Park's for years, they have been around FOREVER, not to mention they are very professional and organized. They demand nothing but the BEST from the students, their classes are structured and organized, to a regular viewer it may look like alot is going on, but it's ALL TOGETHER. To make your child a better person requires a committment, which is demand from parents and they are selective of whom they want to part of MASTERS CLUB, there is a evaluation process a student must meet in order to advance to higher programs. Parks Family are example of AMERICAN DREAM, they came from nothing and achieved EVERYTHING as a FAMILY and I want to be part of that. Regardless what others have said, Park's SUCCESS speaks for itself and BTW what is the purpose of owning a business? To accomplish SUCCESS! They are running a professional and a well organized business.

Park's Tae Kwon Do is a true waste of time. I have gone to the classes at the Davie location and it looks like a zoo. My child went to the beginner class and I was not impressed. There are too many kids and not enough instructors. The kids are still in the learning process but get reprimanded so often they lose the excitement of why they are there. EVERYTHING IS ABOUT MONEY AND CONTRACTS. Sign the contract, pay your LARGE deposit$$$, buy equipment$$$, but tee-shirt for Christmas$$$, send your kids here for camp$$$,get us more business. They are a waste of time and money. The whole experience has left a sour taste for the martial arts. STAY AWAY FROM PARK'S!!!!

Park's TKD cares about one thing - your money. That is it. I have been involved in the art for many years and have trained at World Class schools throughout the country and Park's is on of the worst. For the entire first year, the students do not spar nor do any forms. After the first year they want to sucker you into a "Master's Club" to contract you to pay thousands of dollars. They restrict your abilities. Like someone else said stay away! There are plenty of other quality schools in the area that do not do contracts - because they teach well and the students come to class because they WANT to not because they HAVE to. Park's also advertises on their Coral Springs door they train Olympic competitors. That is false. The closest thing they have had is 2 national competitors. Danielle now training in Miami and Doug now training in a different school in Boca Raton. Why do you think they are no longer there? The only thing I will give them is one great instructor - Master Yeough (spelling?). Poor guy is stuck there. But he is great. But stay away from Parks! Just ask some of the current parents/students there. It is a belt factory/mcdojo.

Classes are overcrowded (often 30-40 students with 1 instructor) and often playtime, not Tae Kwon Do instruction. Classes are 30 minutes rather than the 45-60 minutes offered at other schools. They do not teach Forms and actual Tae Kwon Do unless you sign up for the Master's Club (see below). They just teach a few different punches and kicks (no Forms) and call it "assessment level". They sign your contract then alter the written terms before giving you a copy of the contract. They attach an extra page to your copy of the contract that has terms never disclosed or discussed. They charge exorbitant testing fees and test every 6 weeks. If you don't test, they expel you and charge you a fee of $150-$500 depending on your rank. If you don't pass, you re-test (at an additional fee) in another week. If you try to cancel the contract, they charge you $75 for every lesson you have ever taken! They hold special winter camps for $200 when the kids are out of school and cancel all regular classes so that only the students that pay the additional $200 can attend classes. Everything is about money. They constantly try to get the kids to solicit new business for them at their schools (potential new customers) by offering them $1 off ice cream coupons. Friends that come in are then harassed by constant sales calls. One-two months after you sign initial contract you are given a special invitation to the Master's Club. Of course, everyone gets an invite. The Master's Club requires a 4-5 year written commitment of $10,000, $200 per month. They want a $5,000 deposit. You are continually harassed by telephone and in person to join. If you don't join the Master's Club, you have to leave at the end of your contract. Just go show your green belt and moves to any other Tae Kwon Do school; see their shocked faces when you don't know how to do any Forms. All of your Park's training won't be worth more than a white belt at any legitimate facility. Park's should be ashamed.

My family had to relocate to another state and Parks has not honored the clause in our contract for the black belt club which stated that if we had to relocate we would be refunded the amount not used. Six months later Parks continue to ignore our calls, emails and many attempts to resolved this matter. He was reported to the BBB. We traveled to florida to resolve this matter in person and we are treated as if we are causing problems by the staff. Only one teacher at the school has shown remorse for how we are being treated.

Warning!! I have been involved in Taekwondo/martial arts my entire life and I will say that having visited the school, they are bottom feeders! They care about money and that's it. Unfortunately, I can't say enough bad things about the school! Do not enroll here!

just walk in and listen to the talk in the lobby. You are important until you sign that check. I paid for a year in full and left after 2 months.

Thanks

Park's Tae Kwon Do in Coral Springs is located right off of University Drive and Ramblewood. The instructors are very friendly and will treat you right. They have classes for every age group from 5 year olds to adults. The cost per month is decent for Tae Kwon Do lessons in Coral Springs.
