Sushi House still has the best sushi in Orlando and no matter where we go for sushi outside the state, we always come back to Orlando and have our favorites. Great menu!!

I love the sushi here-they have so many choices, and prices are reasonable. You can watch the sushi chefs prepare your meal right in front of you, and it's so cool to watch them with those huge Ginzu knives!! For dessert, the green tea ice cream is awesome! Highly recommend

The sushi here is absolutely fabulous at the Sushi House. One of the only places where you can get toppings on your custom made sushi. They offer great lunch specials that are fairly inexpensive. Nice quiet atmosphere at night for a romantic dinner. If you are not sure what you would like to try than just ask your waiter or waitress and they will be glad to help you. The service here is great and so is the food. I know many people that go here at least once a week because they like it so well.

Best Sushi around
by Skipper
This place is always a must visit when my husband and I go to orlando. We just got back and during our 10 day visit managed to get to the Sushi house 3 times. Each time we had great food! David was our sushi chef every time we were in there and he made the best sushi I have ever had. The staff and chef were very nice and accommodating and made us special orders on our anniversary. I am looking forward to our next visit so we can return to this great restaurant!
Pros: prices, creativity, atmosphere, staff

Great Sushi and Atmosphere - Watch SUSHI CAM!!
by Whistler0555
We were here for the first time after reading the reviews, and although this is not the best location in the city, the inside is warm and romantic. They had good lounge type music, and about 5 tables in the early evening where we were there. I normally like to sit at the bar, but with 4 of us in the group, we decided for a table on the side. This gave us a great view of there Sushi Cam that shows the chefs making sushi live on TV. This was very clever and we have not seen anything like this.
We started with the recommended seared tuna ($9), and when it arrived it was served by one of the chefs who actually seared right there at the table! We had a quick lesson on different sakes and decided on something in the middle, about $20 for the sake. It was good, even though I'm not a big fan of sake, but if you are into something different, get the flavored sake. We had the chilled raspberry sake by the glass ($6). The best item has to be the Red Dragon roll, a tuna roll with tuna sashimi and sliced jalapeno peppers on top. We finished with a sushi ice cream dessert. Very creative.
If you are looking for a fancy ultra modern restaurant, this is not it. But if you are into good sushi and a great atmosphere with reasonably priced sushi, this is a great little place.
Pros: Good sushi variety, live sushi camera, good parking, great desserts, good prices
Cons: not for kids, no noodles.

not bad, but not great. go for the cooked entrees
by samiam0102
I have to say some of these reviews seem to be very phony,i especially notice it when the writing style is the same for a majority of the reviews. anyways I went to sushi house pretty excited to only leave with a mediocre feeling. I wouldnt really waste the trip over here in a hurry to come for the great reviews. The parking lot was extremely packed because of the surrounding restaurants, but keep in mind this place is very tiny. It's actually good place if you like small joints, but not a great place for larger groups. the kitchn food is actually not bad, but sushi could be better. Tasted very warm for some reason, i like my tuna nigiris at a cool temperature and fresh. if you go try the chicken teriyaki. I might come back if im in the area, but there is a few sushi spots i heard of in that area i havent tried yet that i heard were pretty good.
Pros: dark atmosphere good for dining in small groups, chicken teriyaki
Cons: parking and sushi preparation

The best sushi in Orlando by far!!
by Epiclove
This place is such a great find. We found Sushi House from our GPS visit Orlando and we were not disappointed. The place has great, fresh and creative sushi, friendly knowledgeable staff, and nice ambiance. We were promptly greeted at the door with a smile, and our server was great introducing us to our new delights. Food came out fairly quickly considering how busy it was, and they really know their sakes. Most restaurants carry 3 brands, while Sushi House has over 60 kinds! We are not big sake fans until we tried it here.
We had the Red Dragon and the Sashimi Entree. Both were great, but my favorite has to be the tuna tataki appetizer where the chef came out to our table and served it to us. That was unexpected and it was fantastic. If you are looking for a nice sushi place when you visit Disney or any of theme parks in Orlando, you need to check out this place.

how did this place get any bad reviews?
by andicar
i was obsessed with this place before i moved to chicago, and i still haven't found a place up here to match it. everything is so flavorful and the fish is always so fresh. the servers and the chefs are all so friendly and i've always had great service. every once in a while the food might come out a little slow, but relax, get a glass of wine and enjoy your dinner, its not a race. every person i've brought to this place or recommended it to has loved it and has gone back without me numerous times. my suggestions - sit at the bar, you get your food a little faster. try the emperor roll and the graduation roll - amaaazing.
Pros: great food, good prices
Cons: small parking lot

Huge disappointment. High ratings & reviews are completely INACCURATE!
by MeloMel
My fiance & I are avid sushi eaters. We're from the Bay Area, CA, where there are lots of japanese restaurants within a small radius. We make it a point that when we travel to a different state or major city, we try a good japanese restaurant. After reading the reviews online, we decided to check this place out. Walking in we noticed the place was tiny. They tried to make it seem bigger by having the walls on either side of the place covered in mirrors. There was a TV that played a photo slideshow of their mediocre looking sushi. None of the photos made either of us say "oh, that looks good let's try that". Although we went on a Monday night, aside from the 2 sushi "chefs" & 3 waiters, there were only 5 other guests dining & 1 person waiting for their to-go order (that was waiting for at least 20 minutes). There wasn't a vast amount of sushi choices on the menu. We ended up ordering the Emperor's roll, sashimi combination, and Crunchy spicy tuna roll. We received miso soup that came with the sashimi combo. The soup tasted nothing better than plain old chicken broth (unflavorful). The sushi took about 15 minutes to come out (mind you that the other 5 guests were already eating or about to finish). The wasabi was weak (no kick at all). The tako (octopus) sashimi looked like it was sliced with a butter knife (had jagged slice lines). The sushi rolls tasted "generic"; seemed as if they were created just to look good instead of tasting good first. Basically, all show, no go(od). All that food & drink for just under $60. I have no issues with spending a good amount of money on great food. This restaurant falls significantly below standard. The one bright side (if you can even count this as a good thing), is that my fiance received a free refill on her soda. In all seriousness...do not waste your time, fuel, energy, money, or appetite on this place. You are better off dining @ Benihana...at least you'll get a cheezy show with your sub-standard food.
Pros: Free soda refill
Cons: Quality & quantity of food, slow service, corny/distasteful ambience

WORST dining experience ever... bad service
by orlandosushi
I tried out Sushi House for the first time with my family because we heard such great reviews on about the place. When we came in the door, the lighting and environment was very warm and friendly. We asked our server what was good on the menu, and she started listing the most expensive items on the menu and she didn't even seem like she was into anything she was saying. We asked her if she tried any of these things and she said she didn't know if she did or not. For the size of the restaurant, (it's tiny) she should have seen that our drinks needed refills on more than one occasion.First our miso soup came out and their was a small fly floating in it and the server did not bother to notice it after setting it down on our table. I could understand sometimes small flies could land in food once in a while but the server should notice it before it reaches the table. Then we got our sushi rolls afterwards. My spicy tuna roll fell apart before I could take it off the plate into my soy sauce dish. The spicy tuna was way too spicy and very chewy and had strings of fat in it and it pretty much killd my appetite. All our rolls were wrapped with too much rice...I felt like I could taste more rice in the roll than actual ingredients. Our sushi and sashimi came out okay though -thank god. Overall this place could use some work on educating the servers and chefs.
Pros: good traditional decor
Cons: service and food

If You Don't Go, You're Crazy!
by ryanpeach22
My girlfriend and I just went out to the Sushi House for Valentine's Day and we had the absolute best time of our lives. We got five different kinds of Sushi and a bowl of Miso Soup and everything was amazing...EVEN THE SWEET TEA!!!! The atomosphere was top notch and so was the service. I never, in my life, have taken the time to write a review, but this place was so amazing I had to let everyone know about it. My girlfriend and I love sushi and even try and make it at home, but this was a complete other level of greatness! And to top it all off at the end of our meal the owner, Dun, came by and spoke with us...REALLY SPOKE WITH US! He didn't just ask how are meal was or if there was anything he could do for us, but instead he talked with us about how the Sushi House came to be and how EVERY SUSHI CHEF was 22 years old and younger. He asked us about what we liked and invited us to the Sushi Class they have...which we will be attending in the near future. After ten minutes of talking with the owner we bought 2 t-shirts from the restaurant and left with the greatest restaurant experience we have ever had. Please try this out! Your taste buds will thank you!
Pros: Great food, Atomosphere, Service and Overall Experience!
Cons: I got full and couldn't finish all my food...

As a sushi snob, this is the most incredible sushi ever
by linzy2391
The atmosphere is lovely. Everyone who works there from the host to the servers to the chefs are incredibly friendly. It's located in a small plaza, hidden almost, near the Florida Mall. I love sushi, but am constantly disappointed in the actual food, lack of flavor or freshness, and taste when I try new places. Sushi House serves the best sushi I have ever had in my life. Because of sushi house, I can truly say I have had sushi at its finest.
Pros: the food, the service, the ambiance
Cons: It might be a little pricey if you're looking for fast food prices and they always have memoirs of a geisha playing!

"Party of 1" -- Carry Out Orders
Hello again, this is Osiris!
(African-American)
July 27, 2007: My order for carry out was another "substitution". When I informed Management that I wasn't satisfied... I was offered a "free soup".
I will not waste my money at Sushi House of Orlando again! RE: #9620-9
P.S. I turned down the free soup! ^_^

Great night at Sushi House. Highly Recommended
by transitions62
Place was very clean and waitstaff were very nice in explaining the different rolls and were overall very friendly. Food was excellent. Had an oppurtunity to meet the owner who was very nice and chatted with me and my girlfriend. Menu is very diverse and conducive to people who eat sushi as well as people who are new to sushi. Rolls are reasonably priced and delicious. Favorite was the Spicy Tuna Tataki Salad. Definitely would recommend going here. Will definitely come back for repeat visit. It's next door to the Outback Steakhouse near the Florida Mall.
Pros: Great waitstaff. Excellent food.
Cons: none

Great Sushi bar, ask to meet the owner!
by hornit
We heard that this was the place to go for sushi in Orlando from Google and Citysearch. We showed up 25 minutes before they closed, so we sat at the bar. Good choice as we got the "real wasabi" for free (insider tip) instead of a $2 upcharge. Cool little joint and the sushi was really good. HIGHLY recommend the Graduation roll. Definitely the best sushi roll I have ever had. The owner, Dun, is a great guy (salesman at heart) and loves to talk about his restaurant. Staff was very friendly, especially behind the sushi bar. Hey Dun, give me a call when you decide to open a Sushi House in Des Moines or Ames, IA! ~Aaron
Pros: Great ambience, fun staff, good prices as far as sushi goes
Cons: Closes too early (10pm)!

Small place with nice atmosphere. Took the head chef a little while to warm up. All chefs joking and having fun at the end. Great food and great fun. You must go and enjoy.

Many Special Rolls
by daiji
They serve many different type of Sushi.
Some Sushi Bar use Cream Cheese in all special rolls.
For me, all same tastes.
I enjoy sushi but its take long time.
Tables are almost full. Waite 30 minutes are average time?
And prices are little bit higher than my city Tampa.

Bad slow service not outstanding sushi
by tofubyrd
I went to this Sushi flop with my boyfriend, and the service was horrible!!! We never got half our order, when I asked the waiter he said he was sorry and took it off the check. Let me tell you something their vegetarian sushi was NOT the best, and keep people waiting for food that never shows up is rude!!! We only received our appetizers we went to another resturant afterwards to eat. This place is horrible and I will continue to pass on the bad word. HOW RUDE!
Cons: BAD SERVICE, no food!!!

Why such a high rating?
by smathews22
This place won "Best sushi" in 2005, and I'm not quite sure how. I mean, don't get me wrong they have a few unique things that are pretty good, but nothing to write home about. My biggest complaint is that their rolls are loosly constructed and overpriced for such a simple concept.
Pros: It's a beautiful place and the food is good.
Cons: The waiters ignore you and chat. Also the rolls fall apart and it's over priced.

Best Sushi choices and atmosphere throughout Central Florida
by ginabell
I felt like a VIP. No pressure and thorough breakdown of their menu. The sushi chef came to our table and answered all of our questions. Every item we had was perfect, fresh, and well presented. I went w/my 2 sisters who are from Lakeland. We had a blast, and will return frequently. The selection was amazing. Dun and his staff outdid themselves. Very impressive. A must go for ALL sushi lovers.
Pros: Great location, great menu options.
Cons: Small, seating is close!

awesome atmosphere and great sushi !
by fcvulcan
This has to be the best Sushi restaurant I have ever been to.
If you are looking for a fancy suit and tie place this is not it, but if you are looking for great service, great sushi and a great time this is the place to go.
From the moment we arrived, we were treated as royalty all while wearing shorts and t-shirts. The owner met us at our table and helped the non-sushi eaters with their menu selections. The menu has something for everyone from the hardcore sushi eater and sea urchin lovers to the sushi novice. There is a children's menu and from what I saw the little guys loved their selections.
I have recommended the Sushi House to everyone I know and even a few strangers. Go there enjoy but make sure to call ahead for a reservation.
With a little luck you will get the same waiter we did and have a wonderful magic show at the end of your meal....
Pros: everything but the cons
Cons: small restaurant and must make reservations

AWESOME service and GREAT selection!
by ocbeloro
WOW...The owner of the restaurant took 5-10 minutes just to orient us to the menu and make recommendations. Talk about personalized service!!! ALL of the rolls he recommended were fabulous! The sushi was very fresh, and had wonderful presentation. I can't wait until next time I fly to Orlando so I can eat there again! Best sushi experience I've had.
Pros: Service, selection, creative menu
Cons: It takes awhile to get your order on a Friday night, but the wait is worth it

Excellent value and service!
by sxixs
My girlfriend and I went here for Spring Break after reading the excellent reviews about it. We called ahead and talked to the owner who recommended getting a reservation for the all you can eat sashimi and rolls. WHAT A DEAL! We must have eaten at LEAST $100 worth of sashimi and rolls for around $25 a person, and we stayed for over 3 hours. The owner was a great host. He really made our experience here one to remember and made sure we were having a good time. The sushi was also extremely fresh and portioned well. My only gripe was that some of the rolls seemed a little more fatty and over the top for me. I guess that's just the americanization of sushi.
Pros: Great service, Great value, Great quality

Best Sushi !!! Great place
by redwinkle
I don't know if those people in the earlier reviews played with their food or what, but we ate at the Sushi House recently in April and it was great! We were greeted by a friendly staff who served up some of the best fresh sushi we've ever had!! The rolls were very creative and the sashimi was fresh and just as expected from a place that has won the various awards. We thought the prices were reasonable, the music was upbeat but not annoying. If you are into a quiet place, try some other place, but if you want to eat at a lively fun atmosphere where the food and service is top notch, try Sushi House. We'll be back for sure!!
Pros: clean, lots of parking, great rolls
Cons: no liquor

Surely slacking it's BEST OF.... REVIEW
by synergii1
My friends and I went here because we heard how great it was. Media outlet was calling it "BEST SUSHI IN ORLANDO" Hardly close to that title! The music was dance/trance music. We're not at a club! Confusing menu! MISO SOUP tasted like water! I've had so much better miso soup even at KOBE!signature rolls was just a big crunchy mess. The rice was sticky but hard? We didnt even know who are server was My friend who barely eats sushi said it was "ok". Only decent sushi was white tuna tataki.Sauce for the tuna though was really bland. Don't get any crunchy rolls, we made a mistake of ordering a few different kinds and it seemed like the crunch drenched in oil. Only thing we liked the most is the freshness of the fish. Too many people behind the sushi bar too. Didn't even stay for dessert
Pros: fresh fish
Cons: overpriced, slow service
Posted 05/03/06
High expectations, Low satisfaction
by tho1
I am very surprised that the rating for this restaurant was so high. The service was fine, but the main thing was the food! The miso soup is a well known signature Japanese soup and some how I ended up with a bland bowl of soup that had dinky tofu cubes and shriveled seaweed bits. I must say that I have dined in numerous sushi restaurants, but this one is missing flare, flavor, awareness to attention and details. The seating arrangement was very tight and you can rub elbows with your neighbors. I will not be returning to this place because there are many other exceptional restaurants to choice from. I would advise all that the main site of the restaurant and the colorful sushi display is not even close to being true. The end result is pure disappointment.
Pros: inexpensive, fast seating/service
Cons: lack creativity, lack of flavor, lack of sushi skills

Great Sushi at a great price
by david banner
I have tried sushi at many restaurants in Orlando, including the more expensive one on International Drive and downtown, but they were too expensive and served tiny portions. But when my orders for the sashimi dinner came out, it looked and tasted great. Nice ambiance, friendly waitstaff, and they made my dining experience very emjoyable. I also tried their recommended Happy Sumo roll, which had tuna, salmon, and crab. It was delicious, and I will definitely be back. I had a great dinner with my wife and we spent about half of what we normally spent at other places that served less.

Great Sushi in Orlando!
by conniewhite
I love this place! The food here was excellent and we had great service at a great price. When we first walked in, the place looked warm and simple yet romantic. Our food came out looking so beautifully arranged, the sushi was wonderful, and the people were just great. We had a very nice time and it was worth the trip. Great job!
Pros: Full chef menu, great wine and sake selection, plenty of free parking

Worse Japanese restaurant I've ever eaten at!
by judogirl
My husband and I just went to this restaurant in June 2005 looking for a restaurant that wasn't a chain. We should've just gone to Outback Steakhouse next door! The sushi looked liked they used the "Sushi Maker" to make the sushi. The sushi rice was cooked w/too much water which was obvious at first glance. The miso soup was watered down as well as the teriyaki sauce in my teriyaki chicken. They charge you for tea which was a Chinese tea bag. It wasn't even Japanese green tea! We're from California and have eaten at many Japanese restaurants. This was the worse I've ever had!
Pros: service, parking
Cons: food

A great sushi place!
by yuppiega
I recently visited Sushi House on a business trip and ate there all 3 days. The sushi sashimi were excellent. They are located on a strip mall that was not very noticeable but the interior has a great atmosphere. They took the time to decorate and make everything look very beautiful and taste great. The servers were very nice and friendly and helped with the menu. Not all the items were on the clever picture menu, but I have not seen many restaurants offer pictures of their menus. The second day I tried the Happy Sumo and the tuna tataki, both were great! The prices were very good and ther portions are generous. Nice place!
Pros: Candle light, plenty of parking, fast service
