Having lived in Los Angeles for most of my life, this type of food is no big deal to me. Roy's has good atmosphere and serves a great spread. However, it ain't cheap and it really floored me to be charged $9.00 for a cocktail. I patronize Roy's only on occasion when I want to impress the locals. LA friends expect this quality of food.

We've been living in hotels for a couple of months now, and traveling on expenses, so we can pretty much eat wherever we want. This is a "special occassion" restaurant, so expect dinner for 3 to run about $180 with drinks and tip. But it's worth it. Expertly prepared asian-Hawaiian influenced dishes, listen to your waiter's recommendations for preferred dishes, you won't be misguided.

The maitre d' almost fell down when we walked in WITHOUT RESERVATIONS! But managed to recover and took good care of us miscreants.

Pros: food, romantic

Cons: pricey, reservations!
