Back in the "good ole days" we knew the folks who owned the business where we spent our money. With the rise of big corporations those days have almost disappeared. The down side of this is we often deal with low paid employees who have no personal stake in the business and have no real authority to solve disputes, because they are required to follow inflexible corporate rules and regulations. I didn't find that at James Auto Center where I received personal service from the owner and his wife. If you have a complaint, you can go directly to the owners who will listen and bend over backward to solve the problem and make you a satisfied customer. James Auto center does cost more, but you get what you pay for. They provide personal service, they do a thorough and complete job, and they stand solidly behind their work. The mechanics have a high level of expertise and experience, and you get personal service by nice people who really care about their customers and their business. Plus, they always get me in and out in a hurry when possible, and give me a free loan car when I have to leave my truck. How often do you find a business like that these days.

Damn, I had to put one star rating, because they wont let you do zero stars! Are these people kidding??? Someone must post fake reviews so they get some good ones. I tried to take my car there...inspite of some half hillbilly/half ghetto chick being rude and/or stupid on the phone, and warnings from friends that they were WAY over priced...but he sounds smart on the radio! If he's so smart, he'd get rid of that mean spirited, anti-people person of a skeleton that hides in the back office, waiting to pounce on potential customers who are unworthy to ask why I should pay $108 for the privilage of getting my burned out tailight replaced (plus labor and parts!) W.T.F.??? And the round one who just mumbles and says "ummm" when you ask a question... STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

My 2002 Toyota 4 Runner had an unusual noise coming from the engine compartment. The auto center's test drive and the subsequent troubleshooting lead to the discovery of a faulty fan bracket and fan clutch. I was kept informed on the status of the repair by phone and I feel like every effort possible was made in order to return the vehicle to me in a timely manner. Staff was extremely easy to communicate with as well. Look no further than James Auto Center for your vehicle's maintenence needs.

Brought in my Wife's Toyota for an Eng Lite Problem and a front end vibration while applying the brakes. The Auto Center replaced an Air Fuel Ratio Sensor for the Eng Lite problem and replaced the vehicle's front rotors for the braking vibration. Our fuel mileage has dramatically increased since the Air Fuel Sensor replacement and that is ALWAYS a good thing. However, about 5000 miles after the front rotors were replaced, a slight vibration returned while appying brakes on the vehicle. I returned the vehicle to James Auto Center and the vibration was noted during the test drive. Turns out, one of the replacement front rotors was indeed defective and was consequently replaced again at NO cost to me whatsoever. In today's world were the word WARRANTY is sometimes nothing more than a gimmick, it is very comforting to know the work I have done at James Auto Center is as promised, "done right"

My alternator went out as I was arriving in PCB for vacation. The people at James Auto Center were incredibly friendly and provided great customer service - even provided a loaner car to get us on our way to our condo and the beach! The next morning, my car was ready; the repairs were done well and reasonably priced. Carrie and Anna went above and beyond with customer service. I highly recommend James Auto Center to the PCB locals, and I have passed their name around to our many friends who visit from Tennessee.

I can't believe how rude these people are!!! I came there because I hear this guy on the radio every saturday morning. I thought he would know how to treat a customer. I was wrong! The woman at the counter was too busy brown nosing some other woman and wouldn't even recognize my exsistance. After waiting for her to finish her personal conversation, I asked her to help me. She looked down her nose at me and made some rude comments to me and told me to wait. I asked to see the guy on the radio and she said she was the owner and she would take care of me (rudely).
Thinking I might have been wrong, I sat and waited for her. 20 minutes passes nothing. 30 minutes passes and nothing. Finally, after 40 minutes of waiting, she comes out and says, "Oh, you're still here??" I was FURIOUS! She knew I was out there and she ignored me THE WHOLE TIME. I can not believe the open discrimination the woman was protraying. I'm not talking about racial discrimination, I am black but I don't think it was racial. I think she sized me up and determined I wasn't worth her time. I left and will never return, I will tell everybody I know about how rude they were.

I read the reviews and do my homework before posting. Read the reviews below closely. They are more like commercials than reviews. I have no question the reviews were either written by them or the customer was couched what to write.
I called their shop and asked some basic questions. The rudeness was unparalleled. If their telephone manners is any indication of their shop performance, I would suggest you stay away.

It amazes me how so many people can be entranced by the sounds of this snake charmer. He babbles his drool on the radio and the unsuspecting follow him to his lair for slaughter. I am speaking from personal experience. Im not one to usually voice an opinion but somebody needs to sound the alarm about these guys!
I took the trip through an extremely blighted section of town to go to his shop. I was literally afraid to get out of the car when I arrived. My daughter came to pick me up and I left my car there for a service. I received a telephone call about an hour later stating I needed $1,200 worth of work. I was floored. The vehicle wasn't 3 years old. How could it need $1,200 worth of work? I called my husband and he said to get an estimate of the things that were wrong and he would look it over. I declined the work and retrieve my vehicle paying for only what I authorized.
I took the estimate back to my husband (BTW my husband is a Master Chief and knows something about vehicles) and he read over what they wrote. The services they recommended matched what the dealer recommendations were but the cost of the services were literally 2 1/2 what the dealer charges?? He was going to overcharge me by about $800!!
I know what you people are thinking. You think I'm some sort of panicked AF wife that's over reacting to a high estimate. I'm not. I understand vehicles need servicing and there's cost associated with those services. However, there's a difference in paying reasonable prices for service and just flat-out being taken advantage! I suggest those of you who sing this man's praises compare your bills to what the dealer would have charged. You too will be shocked by what this man is doing.

If you are having problems that are elusive to the automotive community, I suggest you stop in and chat with the folks at James Auto Center. They guarrantee that you will leave with a solution to your dilemma.....and I did just that. They are professional, courteous, and walk you through the problems and solutiions with a "hands on" tour of your vehicle. You do not wonder if you really had a problem, you see it in front of you, and seeing is beleiving. Price is in concert with the results. You save money in the long run when it is fixed correctly in the first place.

I rate James Auto Ctr as 5 Stars +++++
My 2001 Chrysler Town & Country minivan serves me well with gardening & assorted needs. I plan to keep it as long as possible. To do that requires regular maintenance (much less expensive than crisis management) My husband does 98% of that maintenance. Finding a place to diagnose & repair our 2 vehicles to his well placed, high standards, can be a concern. Our recent experience with James Auto Ctr. was A++.
We will return for any future needs. Professional courtesy was as natural as it comes. James made no immediate assumption on what was needed. Even though he was right on his direction of first thought; he made a diagnosis based on asking very specific questions, test driving, with me along, to assertain my concerns; looked up specific required fluids to my van. Second test drive with me to know before leaving that the problem was solved.
Had he not checked specifically for my van's requirements .. a mistake could happen. Chrysler stopped placing an important diagnostic divice in that model the year after 2001. He was good to point out the importance of completely changing out the transmission fluid, by removing ALL of the old fluid every 30,000 miles. That draining what oil comes out when dropping the pan .. only gets about half.. the rest is extracted by a device made for that purpose. He does have that device and the job is easily done on premises. Not doing that, resulted in the problem that brought us to his shop. My husband had used the proper fluid for our van; did not take to have all fluid removed. I'm glad we did not get to the point of replacing a transmission, Whew!
Good people, James & Anna. They are very good in quality and their price is right for a quality job without being over priced. Sometimes people assume that a service should be priced by what they'd like to pay ... I appreciate what is required to run a business; and to do it well. I will recommend James Auto Ctr.

After a short ride, James had checked out all the problems . He did a diagnosis, list and cost and remarked we hope to have it done by Friday. We left the car in their care on Wednesday morning. Sure enough, a call received and the car was ready without any price add-ons. Another ride, and every problem tested, no extra costs for a good, quick job. Thanks to all !

Over priced for the service. Smooth talkers and James is a good sales person because he can make you believe you need more services than you really do. Don't go there.

James Auto Center folks are marvelous, first and foremost they listen, James takes a drive in the vehicle with you and by the time time we get back to the shop he usually knows what is wrong...can't get much better than that...and I have never had anyone in my 54 years of driving take a test drive with me!! Anna, Carrie and James all go that extra mile. I cannot say thank you more for all the help they have been to me. Sandra Smith

It seems like all you hear these days is about bad business, well I'm going to share a very good experience I had recently with a local shop. It was just before Christmas break and I was taking my daughter to school. After I dropped her off my car starting running terribly erratic. I was on 11th street so I limped my car into James Auto Center, freaking out. You know, just before the holidays and already not needing another money problem. I'm thinking fuel pump, computer or any number of costly repairs. I spoke to the owner and he assured me that his technicians and his high end diagnostic equipment would be able to isolate the problem, in other words "No guesswork" I had errands to run before school let out, no problem, they loaned me a car and called me back a couple of hours later to tell me they had found a bad electrical sensor,OK I said, replace it with a new one. Not so easy, the part was not in stock, Now what? The master tech told me that they may be able to bypass the problem temporarily until the sensor could be installed, Magically to me my car was reprogrammed to run for now without it. They were very good to show me what was what and sent me home for a stress free weekend. A few days later they easily fixed the problem permanently for a minor repair bill. Hats off to James Auto Center
I will be back!

James and his shop have been there for me and my family for over 20 years. Have always been friendly and there to help. Giving me honest quotes and honestly if the vehicle could/should not be repaired. When my girls where in college in Gainesville and Orlando, anything that had been fixed at James and had problems there, they always took care of the problem from here. Mechanics from those two cities were impressed that someone would do that. James Auto has been loyal to me and I will continue to be loyal to them. Great Job James Auto. I Thank you. Carrie

I'm a mechanical engineer and I trust JAMES Auto Center to fix all my vehicles -- including an old '96 Chrysler that my daughter drives away at college. I've had 8-yrs experience with JAMES and he's always fixed the problem correctly the first time. The thing that sets this shop apart from others is in accurately diagnosing the problem. I've spent hundreds of dollars at other shops only to find out that they fixed the symptom rather than the problem. This usually resulted in unnecessary repairs and additional repair expenses. While not cheap, JAMES' rates are fair (better than the dealerships based on estimates I've seen). Bottom line --- repairs at JAMES Auto are worth every dime!
