The person who wrote a review claiming that God doesn't live at Kirkwood is obviously a bit short on his or her theology. Christians believe God lives everywhere - evan places that seem unlikely. However, it might be that this person disagrees with some widely held tenet of the congregation, and thus condemns all of it indiscriminately. No church can pass that test, since it is composed of humans. You may be sure, however, that Kirkwood welcomes all comers, and is actively engaged in both mission and the enhancement of each person's relationship with God and Jesus Christ via engagement with the Holy Spirit. We ARE a family in Christ. Families have occasional spats, but they are still families.

Kirkwood Presbyterian is a wonderful place to meet in fellowship and praise God! The church's mission statement, "Be the church," is realized through meaningful worship and small group bible studies. A recently added 9:45 service adds a guitar-based, contemporary worship experience to the traditional 8:30 and 11:00 services.

Kirkwood's pastor, Dr. Hope Lee, is a truly anointed spiritual leader. Whether preaching from the pulpit or in a small group, her understanding of the bible and it's application to daily life is profound. Pastor Hope is an excellent listener and has the ability to make you feel like the most important person in the world during private conversations. Under her care, with the unwavering support of the church leadership team, Kirkwood has grown in membership in the past year.

Kirkwood is also a place for Christian missions. Active mission projects include providing dental care to needy families, partnering with a local middle school, sponsoring a soccer camp for migrant families, and regular mission trips to South America.

Kirkwood's music ministry features a healthy adult choir, hand bells, and special music. The cantatas in 2011 at Easter and Christmas were truly inspiring!

I learned early on that the people of Kirkwood are not nice people. When I first started going there, about my 3rd or 4th visit I was talking to 3 members of the congregation and just as a comment I said that it was a nice church, but they didn't have anything for singles and without a beat, all 3 of them said to me " Then why don't you go to a different church.. As far as the choir is concerned, I think they got what they wanted ,because we never sang anything that was challenging . . I have heard that the congregation thought we were doing a lousy job, so why did they applaud us? If the choir is so bad, then it should be eliminated. . . The meeting should have been held to find out what exactly the congregation wants. I can't believe that the choir director was fired because a choir member had a hissy fit because they were having a hard time with the music. That is why we rehearse, I thought. There has been nothing but trouble at the church since they hired the new Pastor. The pastor has made it clear that she doesn't care what the congragation thinks, because when I suggested that there be an insert in the bulliten for them to give their inout about the new choir director, She said "You don't want open that can of worms." These are the people that pay her salary, but she doesn't want to know what they think or want . I have heard some of the congreration say that they don't know why they are going to Kirkwood. The pastor only cares about herself. With the median age of the congreration being 60-80. She has started a sermon series about "what teenagers think". Now. that she has this job, she will do anything to keep it. Church is supposed to be an uplifting haven ,not a place of contention.
