.

Although it withstood Hurricane Andrew, the original Homestead Inn was not able to withstand the fire which destroyed it in 1913. Rebuilt and remodeled many times since then, The Redland Hotel has been home to Homestead's first merchantile store, first U.S. post office, first library and the first boarding house. After being closed for 250 code violations, the building sat empty until 1997 when the present owners decided to refurbish and modernize it. Each room is unique, not the cookie cutter duplicates of large chains, and decorated with antique-style furnishings. All of the rooms have cable TVs and VCRs, private baths and DSL Internet connections. The owners recently received awards for their outstanding job of restoring the property. The Redland Hotel is a very comforable place to stay - both because the rooms are so comfy and because the Olesons and Gusts are so hospitable.
