AWFUL GROOMING PLACE in Pensacola, FL. I took my dog Harley to the BLUE POODLE grooming last Tuesday and 2 days after we got her home, her neck was scabbed up from what looked like rope burn. They use a rope leash when they have them on the grooming table that the more the dog pulls, the tighter it gets. We have taken her numerous times to the Blue Poodle and NEVER has something like this happened. In fact, I have taken both of my dogs there numerous times. Not once did they call me to let me know that Harley was harder to handle than usual nor did anyone mention it to me when I picked her up. I called to inform them of what happened and the manager argued with me. She did not let me finish talking before she continuously interrupted me and started getting defensive and then began yelling. Then, she hung up on me. Now, I work in customer service and have for 9 years. In no instance have I ever hung up on a client. This is the most unprofessional company I have ever come across. Also, based on this situation, they do not care as much for the clients animals as I thought.

I have been using this groomer for almost 2 years and I have 6 dogs that I take every 2 months. I have never had a problem with Kim, the owner, until yesterday. I picked my 6 dogs up and everything looked fine but when I got home I found blood on the carpet and found that one of my Shih Tzu's bottom right eyelid had been cut about 1/4 of an inch long and was now bleeding, I got the bleeding stopped and called Kim. Kim wanted me to bring her back up there so she could see because she said she did not know this had happened. I took her back there and she saw it and said she didnt even know that happened and it will heal. I informed her I was going to the vet to be sure and she said that my vet was the most over priced and eccentric vet in town and goes to the extreme. The vet said that she needed stitches OR he could remove the cut part of the eyelid and then her eyelid would not be shaped correctly, he recommended the stitches. I agreed to the stitches which took 2 on the inside of eyelid and 3 on the outside. I asked the vet about how much this will cost so I can tell Kim, he said "about" $145.00 so I called Kim. She again proceeded to tell me that she knew the vet would do that and this is only going to irritate her eye more and she did not need to go to the vet! She said, but you can come get a check whenever you want. The vet called me within 45 minutes and my baby was ready to come home and the bill with meds and that cone collar around her neck came to $202.82. I went to get the monies from Kim and she told me again that I did not need to take her to vet and that he is known for over pricing and over doing things. She handed me back the $140.00 check I paid her and a $5 bill and said this is all I am going to pay and I DO NOT have to do that as she informed me that she is NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR INJURIES. I again told her I was not mad at her that I am sure it was an accident but I believe you should pay the entire vet bill regardless of what you think my dog needed you are not a vet. She got very rude and her attitude was horrible, so I told her I would never come back and she said OH, I would never cut your dogs again anyway because I would be to nervous that you will run to the vet for just anything. This place needs to be SHUT DOWN! If you love your animal PLEASE never go to this place.. I am going to see if I have any legal action against her. My vet reduced his fee to the $145.00 that Kim paid as long as I find a new groomer even though I was willing to pay whatever it cost. I have a GREAT vet.

My husband and I had been looking into doggie daycare and boarding, but were hesitant to leave them with just anyone. The first time we walked into The Blue Poodle we immediately felt at ease. The staff was very friendly and even though we had just walked in, they took us around for a tour and answered all of our questions. We dropped them off the first day and the babies were a bit skittish with it being a new place for them. By the time we got there to pick them up, they were bouncing around like they had always gone there! It also says a lot that our oldest one was allowing a stranger to pick him up and pet all over him! (He usually doesn't like anyone!) Now when we say Daycare, our babies get all excited! We definitely recommend The Blue Poodle to everyone! What a wonderful place to leave your babies and know they are having fun and also being treated like a member of the family!! A++ in our book :)

I have been taking all of my dogs to the Blue Poodle and I have referred several friends an co-workers. The staff is awesome and they are extremely compasionate aned loving towards the animals. When you first walk in, the owners make you feel like you are part of their family. My dogs love going to the Blue Poodle, and it is hard to make them leave once they are there. As for the price's on everything. Very good prices!!!

When I first moved here from California to start my new job, I searched and searched for a doggie day care that opened before 8am. I was stressed out becuase I was supposed to start work at 8am. Kim reassured me that she would come in early so I could drop my boys off. WOW. I have never found another doggie day care that would adjust their schedule to help someone out. I was impressed from day one.

I only use the Blue Poodle for all my grooming and day care needs. I cannot speak highly enough of the owners and staff. My dogs do not go anywhere else. Nor will they ever go anywhere else. That is their home away from home.

Today I took two of my dogs (lab mixes) to the Blue Poodle Pet Salon. Boy, do I wish I had read the NEVER AGAIN review prior to making my appointment, and just stuck to waiting a few days to take my dogs to their normal groomer. We had almost identical experiences.
I took my two dogs into this salon to get groomed. My dogs are not use to being in a kennel, and were skittish when trying to get them in there. THe owner (Kim) was impatient with me and my dog and rolled her eyes when my dog cowered in a corner. Looking back, I should have left then,
When I came to pick them up (3 hours later), I was told the cost was different then what I was quoted. After I paid, I asked the receptionist how they determine the rate, as I was quoted different on the phone. Kim interrupted and loudly said that I should have told her my dog was a Chow. I calmly said that neither of my dogs are chows, but lab mix. She said that on the phone they said the cost was approximate, I did not argue this, although this is untrue. On the phone I was very specific that my dogs were lab mix, had long hair, gave the weight of each dog, and told them that they were shedding badly and that was why I wanted to bring them in.
She continued to yell that if I had gone anywhere else, I would have paid well over $100 and she turned them around quick (3 hours is quick?). I tried to diffuse the situation by saying I was not trying to argue, just simply asking a question. She said yes you are, you have been complaining since you came in here.
I turned to walk away, and she followed me out the door yelling. I told her I would never come back nor refer her, and that she needed to check her demeanor with her customers, and she said "No I don't, I am the busiest groomer in town!".
I left her shop in utter shock and without a reciept, just like NEVER AGAIN. She yelled at me like this in front of my 10 year old boy. If she treats me like this, how does she treat defenseless animals?
I would rather pay more money at another groomer and recieve respectful service, then pay less (per her statement) and be treated like she was doing me a favor.
Please do not support this business. You are asking for heartache if you do.

I am sorry your dogs took longer than you feel was necessary. Generally a dog takes more than an hour - there are signs in the shop stating it can take 3+ hours. If you had your dogs finished in an hour it was because that particular day was slower. As the warmer months come grooming business gets busier - therefore your dogs may take a little longer than say in February or so. This isn't an attack on an individual this is just demand and we take dogs on appointment - we don't pick favorites or skip....sometimes you may have a husky in front of you. If dogs are thirsty we give them water...have a look around the shop there are bowls open everywhere. Also if a particular dog gets excited that's on that individual dogs behavior - no amount of water will calm down an excited dog. It will just make them pee a little more. The nails... every dog that comes through our doors gets the nails trimmed or filed (unless asked not to do by the customer). If you bring your dog weekly you most likely won't notice as much of a difference as if you come monthly and the have a chance to grow longer. Usually weekly dogs nails can only be tipped. Try walking your dogs for healthy nail upkeep. Thank you for business and I do appreciate you in this rough economy... hopefully your next grooming shop will meet your needs.

I have had experiences similar to the previous customers. First of all I will agree that the owner, which is Kim, is the rudiest person, not to mention owner of a business that I know. It is unbelievable that in this economy a owner would treat her customers as rude as she does. On the other hand her husband that works in the back is very nice, but unfortunally she is running people off.

When we first started taking our dogs there they were great. They had them ready in an hour no problems. We had been using them for about 8 months or so. After a couple of months it started taking them 2 hours then up to 3 hours. Just like the previous customer stated when we got the dogs home they would drink their bowls dry and have to refill them over and over. After this and their nails not being cut for several visits in a row my husband mentioned it to Kim. Her reply was, we always give them water and cut their nails every week. Well that was a lie. So the next time I dropped them off I mentioned it to her again. I guess it must have ticked her off. She stated, your dogs are never hear long and they always get water and their nails are cut every week. I reminded her that they had been taking up to 3 hours. I was so mad I wanted to take my dogs home then and not leave them. Instead I left them and called my husband and told him in case I was overreacting. She made a point to call us in exactly one hour that day.

In this economy there are plenty of people that would love my business and obviously she could care less if she has it or not. So therefore I will choose to give it to someone that treats me AND my dogs like they want our business.

Horrible experience at this salon. My appointment was at 10:00 and I arrived at 9:45. The person at the front desk told me it would be four hours and escorted myself, my husband, and my dogs to the kennel area. I told her that they had never been in a kennel nor been separated before. While my husband was trying to put them in the kennel she shoved his hand. Once in the kennel she said she would call when they were finished. At 1:45 (almost four hours) we arrived to pick up the dogs because we had been shopping in the area. The person at the front desk told us one dog was ready to go and we could take her. The lady who was grooming was standing behind this lady and asked if she could call us when they were ready (in a very rude voice). When my husband asked at what point the other two dogs were at the lady rolled her eyes and walked away. The receptionist said that it should be no later than 2:30 so my husband and I went shopping and waited on the phone call. When we finally called them at 3:45 they said they were ready and we could come pick them up. When we picked them up, they were in separate kennels when I had given instructions to keep them together and they had agreed to. Also, when I called to make the appointment I told the person over the phone that one of my dogs?? hair was badly matted. I was told it would be $25 per dog. Upon payment, they requested $95 which I paid because I had already had such a bad experience and just wanted to take my dogs home. On the way home I noticed that I had blood on my pants from the nails bleeding. I typically get my vet tech to clip my dogs?? nails and she has rarely made them bleed and if she did she would put something on them to make them stop. I decided at that point not to take them back because they seemed traumatized when I picked them up. When we got home all three dogs tried to drink out of the same bowl which is unusual for them. I had to change the water three times. They had been at the salon for almost six hours and I believe they did not get any water while there. They also pottied a lot more than usual, so I??m sure they didn??t take them out either. Later on in the night I also noticed one of my dogs had a rash between his legs which was not there beforehand.

My husband called the next morning to let them know that the dogs?? paws were bleeding after their visit. The lady on the phone (Kim) was extremely rude and told my husband it looked like their nails had not been clipped in a year and we should have brought them back. My husband told Kim that their paws were trimmed a couple of months earlier at the vet for their checkup and he could bring her the receipt to show it. Kim told him that she didn??t care and if we wanted her to do something about it we should have brought them back (at an additional charge, I??m sure.) Kim told my husband they were very difficult dogs. (The other groomer we took them to never had any type of problem and said they were well-behaved. The only reason we stopped using her is because she got out of the business.) My husband then requested a receipt because they had failed to give us a receipt (which we had forgotten to ask for since we were trying to get three distressed dogs into the car). Kim stated they don??t give receipts because it??s like a haircut, to which my husband replied that he does get receipts for his haircuts. The argument went on. My husband finally just hung up.

Neither my husband nor myself are typically argumentative people. We just wanted to pick our dogs up and them be happy and healthy. Our dogs are our children. I was very distraught for my family (dogs included) to be treated in such a manner. I will never take my dogs back to this salon again and recommend no one else does.

My Maltese Chuwey is extremely aggressive with me when I attempt to groom him. He was attacked by a very large dog when he was a very young puppy. Chuwey's nails were clipped too short at another groomer. She did not tell me and I saw blood on Chuwey's paws on the way home. This other groomer kept Chuwey for 8 hours. I have been scared to take Chuwey to another groomer. After inquiring about where others take their pet I was told about The Blue Poodle and their caring staff. I was extremely hesitant but took Chuwey anyway. I was pleasantly greeted by staff who immediately comforted me. Not only was she sensitive to my feeling but she also let me know that my pet important to them and they really cared that my pet was comfortable while in their care. I am so thankful that The Blue Poodle was recommended to me. BTW they made sure that Chuwey was in and out quickly since it was his first time there. I am comfortable taking him there and I never thought I could feel this way about a groomer again. It's like dropping your child off at daycare for the first time. Thank you Kim and and staff for all you do and for caring.

I love Kim and all the people who work at the Blue Poodle. We have a 12 pound poodle- dauchsand mix (Charlie). Kim has been grooming him for over eight years. She is able to work around my crazy schedule to get him in. Charlie always looks so cute and smells sooooo clean when she is done. Charlie also has problems with his ears due to allergies and she is always very careful. We also have a chihuaha (Zippy) who is a little aggresive. Kim is able to clip his nails which is about impossible.
We LOVE the Blue Poodle and recommend them to anyone who has a dog that needs a little TLC.

I have been doing business with the Blue Poodle since 2001. The owner/ groomer has always treated me with respect and kindness, and has even called me after hours at home, when I have left her a message, that I needed an appointment. I would never take my "babies" anywhere else. I found this salon after two disastrous attempts at grooming by another pet salon in Pensacola. I now drive 20 miles to take my baby to her, because I do not trust anyone else. Her grooming is awesome, my dog comes home soft, shiny and happy.

First of all, Kathleen, your dog must have either been neurotic or still had exposed stitches (which is unsafe for the dog in the first place). There are signs in the Blue Poodle (and plenty of other grooming shops) warning owners of potential dangers, and that's not an allowance for poor grooming, its an honest admonition that sometimes an ill-behaved dog will cause itself injury.

The Blue Poodle has always done a great job on my dogs and plenty of my friends dogs. A huge plus is that their prices are amongst the lowest in town.

As for the owners attitude toward her customers: she respects people who respect her, and, more importantly, she respects people who take care of their pets (covered in fleas and severe matting are not attributes of a pet that is being taken care of).

First of all, the owner of the Blue Poodle of Pensacola needs a lesson on good customer service. If you'd like to be treated badly, make a stop at this salon.

More importantly, THIS PET SALON CAN BE DAMAGING TO YOUR DOG'S HEALTH. Because of poor grooming, I was forced to take my dog to the vet. He was nicked in the area where he was neutered, and my vet bills totated over $100. The owner told me that "this happens", and offerred no apology.
