I went down to Tarpon Springs with a friend on vacation, and my experience to Frenchy's was a good one. Good food, good atmosphere. The Sangria was also very good!

Frenchy's Rockaway Grill is a good restaurant, albeit a very busy and popular place. It is located right on the beach along the Gulf of Mexico, with great views of the Gulf and beautiful sunsets!

There was a line for the outdoor seating when we arrived, but we were seated immediately inside. (Sunset apparently is a very busy time for the restaurant.) Even though the place was very busy, we were served within a few minutes of being seated. The wait staff was very pleasant and helpful, although they did tend to get a little distracted at times; but considering the hustle and bustle of the place, I did not consider this unusual, and any serving delays were minimal. The parking lot is quite large and there is ample parking for disabled persons.

The food was very good -- hot, fresh and cooked to order. The cole slaw was also good, and I am very picky when it comes to cole slaw! My mahi-mahi sandwich and my wife's sirloin were very good. The dessert menu, while rather sparse, nevertheless contained a few good treats. I recommend their key lime pie. Frenchy's also makes its own cole slaw and tartar sauce.

The restaurant was very boisterous given the time of day, but the atmosphere, although rather loud, was still not unpleasant. One drawback I do have to mention is the relative lack of space in the aisles, apparently to make the maximum space available for more tables; however, this makes walking through the dining rooms a bit of a chore, especially for a disabled person. Even so, I felt that my needs were not ignored. The restaurant's private beach is quite large, making it a good place for volleyball and other fun beach activities.

Otherwise, we had a very good view of a beautiful, red sunset from inside the restaurant. Our waiter was attentive and frequently asked us about our dining experience. All in all, we had a pleasant dining experience, and the wait staff was very accommodating of my disability.

This is a good restaurant if you don't mind the busy atmosphere and a bit of a wait for outdoor seating. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I did not have a bad experience and the food was quite good. The wait is worth it, especially for the beautiful Florida sunsets. Don't forget the food, it's also good, especially if you like fresh seafood.

This restaurant located on the Gulf of Mexico was extremely crowded for dinner! We had a long wait but got great seats on the deck right on the beach. They have really good tropical drinks, however, the food was just average. I ordered chicken fajitas and my boyfriend ordered their famous grouper sandwich. He said it wasn't so great. Friendly crowd and staff.

This is a great stop for a grouper sandwich. The fish sandwich was really tasty. I liked the outside seating area, the atmosphere is fantastic. You can watch the sunset as you eat your dinner. Then take a walk on the beach.

This has always been my favorite Seafood Restaurant. They started with just one location, then as their popularity grew, they expanded adding more locations. I just wish they would add a Tampa restaurant as I can not always get to Clearwater Beach.

The dress and atmosphere are casual. The waterfront location is a larger and dressier location.
Be prepared to wait as it is a favorite for locals, sailors & tourist. The wait is worth it as the food is always great. Every time we take friends it becomes one of their favorites as well! They have offerings for non seafood lovers as well.

The smoked fish spread & grouper sandwich are the best around. I do not believe they take reservations. The price is reasonable. They provide great customer service. You can find pictures of local sailors on the walls.

It is family friendly, can be a little loud, but loads of fun! Try to avoid during tourist season. Relax & have a cocktail while you wait for your table. Remember when at the beach, you can't be in a hurry!

I am not a local of Clearwater Beach. I was invited with a couple of my friends, and we went to this establishment, Frenchys east sideI was expecting to have a good time, but the balding male, caucasion, bartender who was working at the Rockaway bar, on the date of 9 June 2007, at the hours between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. did not stir my chilled shot of Grand Marnier, as i asked, but shook it! Not two seconds after i told to stir it. This might sound superficial to complain about, although, ice remnants in a shot is like waking up one time after sleeping, and realizing you are losing hair from the top, middle section of your cranium. I complained, and this african american male, who is so dark, he is purple, grabbed me like i was a slavemaster of past of his, and got what was owed to him. I understand being thrown out, although, i am disabled. Walking is a chore for me now. I have a rod in my femur, and walking is a task now. Point of this is, the bar staff likes small tips, obviously. I showed this male bartender working on the day of 9Jun2007, $1000 cash, and he still shook my Grand Marnier shot, rather than stir it. I am back on my cane to aid my walk again. I just retired it last month. I despise the establishment just for the what happened to my person that day. I hope Mr. French, or whomever has the pleasure of calling that place a "business establishment"" prospers. A good piece of advice to give you, yellow teethe showing, brings a lot traffic slowing to slow down because of the yellow. African-Americans here in the United Sates, are owed something to them. So they send whitey to, collect? I guess I should say. Whitey has more luck collecting than performing
And remember the golden rule, one who jacks, has calloused hands. Anyway, call when you can. And ill talk to you later.

My husband and I have been spending the winters in Florida for several years. We love all of the Frenchy's restaurants but Rockaway's is our very favorite. The waiters and waitresses are number 1-very helpful and very friendly and the rum runners are the best in Florida-we visit this restaurant on a weekly basis and would recommend it highly to anyone-can't wait to get there!

Between the 13 year old hostesses who have no idea what they are doing to the mediocre food, Rockaway just doesn't cut it. The service is average. At least it's better than Frenchy's Original where waiting customers get pushed aside by waitresses to seat locals.

PROS: The sunset views
CONS: Frenchy owns it

Frenchy's is a nice place to eat/drink on Clearwater Beach. They offer some great views and amazing sunsets. The food is pretty good - but nothing exhilirating. The scene and atmosphere are the main reasons people frequent Frenchy's. Its a nice place to go and relax and realize exactly why you live in this area

PROS: Location, sunsets
CONS: food not the greatest

I have been eating at Rockaway Grill for eight years now and I still enjoy going there. I have brought many people there from all over and they enjoyed it also. The name was the first thing that drew me as I come from an area in NYC called Rockaway. I'm very glad I tryed this restaurant. I also have eaten at Frenchy's other restaurants and have liked the food there as well. Keep up the good job.

This place has the best location on Clearwater Beach, however the food is average at best and the sevice is deplorable. I have too many horror stories about the service there to write them all down. But everyone keeps going back again and again simply for the view and the crowds.

I live in Orlando and was pointed in the direction of Clearwater for our anniversary. We have since gone back every few months, and every time we do, we stop at Frenchy's because it's so relaxing and inviting! Great atmosphere, and right on the water! Live music and good food on the ocean...what more could you ask for!?!

This place is always too packed, and it's definately a "meat market" kind of bar, not the relaxing beach bar they percieve to be. The bands may be good but they have to space to move in either, and the wait time to be seated......it's just not worth it. Definately NOT an exceptional place to eat & watch the sunset.
