1. I've been to middle eastern restaurant and it was a waste of my trip and money.
2. Ordered chicken breast and mashpotatoe and ice tea = $23. For $23 dollars i can get 2 delicious meal at an authentic restaurant down the street.
3. My friend got a scoop of icecream and brownie with a candle. You would think she referred 6 ppl to this restaurant and it's her birthday they would waive that cost. Oh no they fight tooth nail for it.
4. I could of had my buddy bake me a chicken breast and i'll pay him $23 dollars for it b/c its way better. Chutney's chicken was so dryyyyyy i had a hard time swallowing it.
5. So they gave ut pita bread, you would think they smear something yummy like garlic butter on top oh no it tasted like the stuff straight out of the package. The bean sauce dip for it tasted nasty!
6. No where on the menu nor did they inform the birthday girl that there will be a automatice grauity fixed rate with party of ?i was charge $3
7. The salad that comes with the entre nasty. I would be embaress serv this to my family or customers.
8. The cup they serve drinks in were all cracks at the rim.
9. I wonder about some of the previous reviews. Kfc taste bette than this
10. Charge me the wrong price

Cons: svc, quality, price

The food at Chutneys is excellent! Living in Chicago I always had access to great Indian and Greek food...I was pleasantly surprised to make this find in Sarasota! I dine here regularly and the food is consistenly good with daily specials. No wonder this husband and wife team have been in business for 20 years.

If you are looking for Indian food, this is not the place. We enjoy Indian food in many cities across the US and cooking it as well. We were excited to see an Indian restaurant near our part-time home in Siesta Key. The salad (Greek) was just o.k. My husband had chicken masala and cumin potatoes--the chicken had no spice. I also had the cumin potatoes and neither one of us could taste any cumin. I had saag (spinach) which tasted like it came straight from the can. Two ladies next to us ordered the Greek food and said it was fine. In our opinion, this is not even the Americanized version of the Indian dishes we ordered--very bland and an extreme disappointment. We would in no way recommend Chutneys if you want Indian food.

Pros: It appeared to be a fun place to meet people; quaint and close.

Cons: Food was not good.

Chutneys is a great place to enjoy Indian and greek food in Sarasota. The food is always very flavorful and well prepared. The husband and wife are always happy to see their customers and love their regulars. Make sure to sit at the bar and enjoy the people watching and if you are lucky enough to visit when the meatball curry is on special, try it!!! You won't be disappointed.

I have been to Chutney's more than once and always experience the same inhospitable attitude from the owners, a husband & wife team. I always feel like I am bothering the.....imagine that....a paying customer asking for water and then asking again! The chairs are very cheap and uncomfortable. I like to do business with pleasant people who strive to provide good service, good food, and a comfort setting.....this is NOT the place for that.

I went there a week or two ago and it was nice enough. The food is good and fairly authentic from what I know.

The problems lay only in the service and seating. The place is always very crowded in the evenings and the tables are packed in to a small room. The thing I hate the most is that they have metal folding chairs and tables with plastic table cloths. SO uncomfortable. I think that they only have one waitress so the service is not very personal and it is somewhat rushed. It is also usually pretty loud. Not the place for an intimate dining experience.

If you enjoy Indian or Greek cuisine or are interested it trying them I would recommend the food here but not anything else. Maybe get it to go?

A restaurant featuring foods of Greek and Indian cuisines. The dinner menu starts with appetizers including good babagnoush (sp?) and then splits into two with Greek entrees on one side and Indian ones on the other. Our tikka/tandoori chicken was overdone but other entrees were great including eggplant with tomatoes and garlic, a Greek-type of pastry, and stir fried noodles. Entrees include a very good Greek salad. The restaurant also has nightly specials that are easy to miss seeing (we did!) on a white board near the entrance.
