First, let me say 3 years ago I bought a brand new car from this dealership....my sales representative was nice, however the finance representative was rude. The service manager was dropped the ball on me a few times with my vehicle for service. The last 3 years I hardly had any problems with my car, so on Saturday, November 23, 2013 I was looking to purchase either a Malibu or Impala brand new and decided that my bad experience was a long time ago, so lets give them another chance. When we walked in we told the sales person that we very serious buyers and we were going to buy a car this day, and they also knew that we purchased a car from them 3 years ago. They came back with a really low offer on trade-in from the car I purchased for them, but I only wanted $500 more. The manager was extremely rude and told us when we did not like the trade in price he offered that "we better change our attitude" We WERE NOT rude to him at all, but they have such an attitude in that dealership where they are doing us a huge favor by selling us a car, instead of offering good customer service. We walked out and we have never done that before. I did purchase a car this day, but not from this dealership. All they had to do was just be nice, but they lost a sale. I purchase a ATS Cadillac from Dimmett, instead of purchasing a car from Castriota Chevrolet. Dimmett did give us more for our trade-in by $750 then Castriota and gave us great customer service. Normally, I let these kind of things go and don't take the time to write a review, but I am still stunned by how badly we were treated. There are so many other dealership out there, PLEASE buy from someone who will appreciate your business, because they just don't care. We were dressed down this day, because I wear suits all week and they treated us like poor white trash and had no idea that my husband is a store manager locally and that I touch so many people in my profession. I am currently Sales Manager to different funeral homes in Pasco and Hernando County and during my next sales meeting that I am going to conduct I am going to let everyone know my experience and use them as an example of bad customer service and HOW NOT treated people. Yes, one person can make a difference with word of mouth.... and just think how much money Castriota Chevrolet spends in advertising to acquire just one customer (ROI) and how one BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE can destroy their reputation!!!

Business Response:

Catherine, I am sorry to hear that you and your husband did not have a great experience during your interaction with our dealership. You are right; the experience which you described is not how people deserve to be treated. We always strive to treat all of our customers with the utmost respect, honesty, and courtesy. Hence, I am saddened to hear that you felt mistreated by our staff. We would greatly appreciate the chance to right this wrong and regain your trust. Please contact me at your convenience so that we may discuss what can be done to repair our business relationship. Thank you for bringing your experience to my attention. If you would please contact me back directly at (727) 755-2180 or the "contact us" section of our website http://bit.ly/19WP1c3. I would greatly appreciate it and look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely, Tom Castriota

The service department is TERRIBLE, cant speak as to the sales department as I didn't purchase my car from castroita (Thankfully). I took my car in to have the instrument cluster (guages) replaced which also has the computer that runs the car. First it took them 15 days to get it ready. Sighting problems such as not being able to find the necessary parts then they couldn't install it correctly, lights weren't turning on, radio wouldn't turn off, etc. When they finally got my car back to me, I gave it a quick once over everything seemed okay. After a couple days I started to notice that the bottom of my dash was falling out, one of the buttons on my seat adjustment was broken and simply placed back on. I went to adjust my seat and it fell right off. I was obvious that it was broken with some force then just set back on. My 12volt port no longer worked. I took it back and they told me they didn't cause the damage and there's nothing they could do about it. As there was no other dealership close and knew someone there who told me to make sure to ask that he work on it next time, I took it back one more time. Should have known better. I was told it was no problem to have the specific tech I requested work on it. A week later, got it back, and there was more damage. Like a careless tech was jumping around in my car, little pieces broke here and there. Then I found, the tech I requested didn't even work on my car. THEY LIED and said he did.
SUMMARY- Careless techs, will not make good on any damage they cause to your car and there will be some, i promise. They will lie to you and are generally untrustworthy. I don't care if I have to drive 1000 miles just for an oil change, I'll never go back again. Seems like the service department isn't far off from the sales department from what I've read here. And yes, If you carefully read the 'good' reviews on this page, you can tell they are written by castroita employees. Good luck with this place, you'll need it.

Had a rockin' experience with their sales director, susan. I'm looking to get out of my 04 Chevy and into a new Cruze. Susan was extremely helpful with great pricing and turned me over to one of her salespeople, David. Very professioanla group.

We bought a VW Passat from Castriota and before it had 300 miles on it, it started to blow oil out of the engine. They had performed an oil change on it, left in the old oil filter, and put too much of the wrong oil in it. VW specifies 0W40 Synthetic with no more than 4.6 quarts being added when the filter cartridge insert is changed. I drained over 5 quarts out of 10w-30, and this didn't include the amount that sprayed over the undercarriage, top of the engine, and even filled the spark plug holes shorting out the ignition coils. Emails to "Tom" went unanswered by him, but after spending dozens of hours and over $400.00 of our Christmas Stash fixing it, their Comptroller offered me $150.00 for the trouble we went through. Tom uses his Military Service to promote his business. They promise 100% Customer Satisfaction as well as having put their used cars through a 117 pt inspection...All their promises are bogus, they don't even return phone calls or emails. Do not buy a car from these phonies!

This place should be referred to floridas attorney general for predatory lending practices and taking advantage of the elderly.
After my 90 yr grandmother had totaled her car she received approx
12k. She went here and was steered to a 2010 cobalt which required an additional financing of 6.5k (included is a 5yr extended
warranty) which works out to about 135/mo. Her insurance runs about the same so we are at about 270/mo. Her monthly income (fixed) is about $500 and food stamps. The new car now disqualifies
her from food stamps thus leaving about 230/mo left to pay for utilities, meds and food. Ouch! What a bunch of Sc#mbags. Do yourself and favor avoid this group of opportunistic gangsters and take your business to another dealer that display a bit more integrity. When I called them about this issue the feedback I received was along the lines of "You wouldn't believe the number of calls we get like this." As long as she is a competent person she signed a legal contract and is stuck with it. Well it may or may not be legal, I don't know, but is sure seems unethical. My wish would be for this to fall under some exploitation of elderly law and class action these crooks into oblivion. I also hope that this review costs you (Castriota Chevrolet) as many customers as possible. Maybe you guys should give away screwdriver keychains to the old folks
as a symbol of what to expect and also change your name to "Castration Chevrolet"!

Castriota Chevolet, sold my wife and I a 2008 Dodge Charger about 5 months ago. We were sold an additional service warrranty for this vehicle. We were happy with our Charger for about 2 to 3 months until we started hearing a noise under the front of the car. When we went to Castriotes Service Dept they told us that it was our struts making the noise. I was told when we bought the service contract that it would cover everything but, I was fooled. Castriota's Service Department told us that our struts were not covered under our warranty and to fix our 5 month old car would cost us an additional $785.19 to replace struts that should have been found when they serviced the vehicle before putting it on the lot for sale. DO NOT BE FOOLED as I was on buying any service contract THEY DO NOT HONOR ANY SERVICE CONTRACT

This is the worst car dealership I have ever seen. All the good reviews are by current employees. The way employees and customers are treated is like the are animals, all of the sexual harrasment and work place harrasment that goes on there the dealership should be closed down. The sales staff doesn't know about the product and customers are sized up when they walk in for how much they can make off them. Close them down GM soon please, do everyone a favor

I have had a great experience with the purchase of my 2010 Camaro SS. The salesman Jimmy Gilliam was a very honest person and easy to deal with unlike many salesman I have dealt with in past car buying experiences. Also, Patrick in parts is very nice and easy going. I have no complaints so far.

This place rocks! I've been a customer of Castriota Chevrolet for 14+ years and have never had a problem with them. Their Service Department can stand up to any GM Service Department I've dealt with (3 others in the Tampabay area), their Sales Department staff are professional and couteous, I've read a lot of reviews listed on this page and it seems the negative ones are somewhat imature, past emplyees (obviously a very competent source, not!), people with a grudge, etc. etc. if you can't be constructive with facts leave it alone.

What a waste of Air space..As a past employee,I can assure you they will take the "LOW ROAD" whenever it monetarily benefits them..They have the shadiest sales staff, they maintain the worst equipped service dept in order to avoid costs..One can look at their facility and see proof of this..They think nothing of screwing over their employees and customers ,and do so on a daily basis..They are there to take your money any way they can..Do yourself a favor and run for your life!!!

The worst service I've ever had. 6 months into buying my vehicle I still had warranty they refused to fix the problem of my car stalling. They lied to gm customer service when I made a report and allowed us to drive off the lot 2x with my baby in backseat and car stalling in traffic and during uturns. I will never in my life recommend these crooked dealers and ever worse service dept to anyone. The car is dangerous and they could care less. Let them drive it off the lot with there kids in backseat!!!!!

In 2007, we purchased a new Silverado pickup from Castriota. And in 2009, we were in the market to purchase (sorry but) a Ford Excursion (or something similar to). We went to numerous dealerships and did not go to Castriota first. For no other reason other than we were interested in a Ford. The other dealerships we visited weren't so interested in staying within our budget or wanted us to put down some ridiculously large deposit. I went on-line and found a Hummer H2 at Castriota and my husband went over to look at it. They let him take it home for the evening and the whole family loved it. The next day, my husband and I both went to Castiota to formalize the deal. They were very friendly, courteous and cared about us, and worked within our budget! I can't believe we even went anywhere else. My business lies in this Family-Owned, honest car dealership!! Thanks Castriota............Oh, and our Hummer H2, like our kids say........... IT ROCKS!!

UPDATE ON HOW MY PROBLEM WAS HANDLED: 8/26/2008

I have to say that everything worked out for me & my dream car. Kathy from service & Stephanie from the warranty department took action and fixed all my problems. Stephanie contacted Mr & Mrs Castriota and they did right by me. I am happy that my problem was handled in the correct way and I am thankful that Castriota Chevrolet listened to my concerns and took actions to help & fix the problem. That shows me alot.

I was a crazy the day before & the next day, but they took no offense and were more than willing to help. I appreciate how everyone involved in this was pleasant even though I was madder than a bee's nest.

So in ending I would recommend Castriota to anyone. Thank you for all your help everyone at Castriota

Kathie

I thought I found the car of my dreams. My sales man was a great guy, and it's not his fault. I have had it for only 2 months and the ___ hitting the fan big time. In for repairs already 3 times and now it had to be towed away today because it was smoking all over the place. We have requested that Tom Castriota contact us in the morning, if not than I guess we will have to file a bunch of complaints with every agency within our reach. And possibly will have to file a lawsuit, not just for a bum car but for the mental and physical stress since owning the car.

I am keeping the faith though until tomorrow. Will see if Tom Castriota is really as honest as they claim he is. If not folk, trust me I will be back to report what happened with my dream car.

Went to look at New 2007 Avalanche advertised for $25,595 in st pete times. Was marked on tag on winsheild for $25,595 Went inside to buy and they insisted that price was $35,595 less $3750 rebate. Would not sell for the advetised price to me!

did not hear me as a customer and what I was needing for transportation, but rather what would not have been a suitable vehicle for me for all the wrong reasons, didnt look at me when I was talking with the sales person but watching the lot and other customers , totaly felt I was wasting their time, dont waste yours

PROS:
CONS: customer care not there

To start the staff is extremely rude, like it doesnt matter that you could be a potential customer. The mechanics there have sent many of my family members away with the same problem because they couldnt figure it out. I have never known a person to be be happy with their services. The selection of cars is not all that big , either, compared to some dealerships down south.

PROS:
CONS: Unprofessional

I've gone car shopping with my dad at this dealership and felt they employed some shady sales tactics. Their service dept keeps recommending service to my dad that he doesn't need. My dad is a GM retiree and they really seemed unwilling to help him find a new car, and were definitely trying to overcharge and kill him on the interest rates.
