My wife took me to Safron 11-6 for a birthday surprise, which was to include live belly dancing and a great meal. The place looked great and we were seated and it went downhill from there. There was no entertainment (even though it was advertised) I asked for a beer and I had 2 choices for beer, and the matradee/mgr ? didn't know what type they were, just the names, she told me "I don't even like beer" so I just picked one? The waiter took our order One Shrimp Madras (spicy) One shrimp Korma (medium) wrote it a on piece of paper...fwd.....a different staff brought our meal with my order being wrong, a fish Madras, I told her it was wrong she left it at our table and went to get the Matradee who asked me if I was sure my order wasn't Fish Madras, I told her no, she went and got our waiter who asked if I wasn't sure I didn't order Fish I told him no! he then asked would I prefer to try the fish instead of the shrimp. I told Him no! I want what I ordered, he finally said ok at this point Im worried about what Im about to eat ...fwd...he comes back with the shrimp Madras (which was ok) I decided to ask him what did he wrote down for my order, he said " good question" (he never checked during the confusion), proceeded to take a few papers out and looked through them and said "ahh you DID order the shrimp but for some reason I put it in as fish", he started to walk away looked back and said "you were right'. the next 2 patrons to sit beside us were asked if they want to try the fish madras, (hmmmm...wonder who finally said yes that night) We get the check and the 2 beers are not on the bill, being honest I call one of the staff, and told her to get the Matradee to correct it to reflect the 2 beers. They added $10 to my bill for a total of $60.xx, ok, we give them $80 and no one returns. My wife stops the staff and she goes to the matradee and she returns to tell us, for change they now need to send someone to CVS for singles. I was livid when did 30% tip become standard? let me decide what tip to give over 18% especially when the service was mediocre to bad. The CVS comment was the final straw. Safron staff you have successfully made my first visit my last. If this restaurant fails it will be because of an arrogant staff who thinks they are never wrong, fine dinning isn't about a extensive wine list ok food and poor service, quality service has to apply to every customer, not a select few.

1)Dcor ?? The absolute best thing about Saffron. The person who designed this should get awards or something. You have great ambiance here, and I only wished the food was a match.

2)Staff ?? Excellent, except for the (1) waitress who took our order, in which she did not greet herself, present a smile, and just went straight to ??what are you having??. Are you kidding me? I was embarrassed for the waitress. Oh, and my wife & I don??t go out to feel rushed or pressured to pick something from the menu because the waitress has a lot of orders. If that the case, I suggest you have less staff taking care of the tables, and more taking orders. The service she gave us was so bad, my wife left a $1.00 tip. This is something we never do, and they way I was upset, she lucky my wife gave her the $1.

3)The Wait- An hour long wait for (2) small items- Ok, you had some kitchen problems. Why was I told this 45 minutes after waiting for my food? I had three servers who came up to me, when the rude one had already taken my order. Did they try to offer us a Martini or anything to compensate? Not at all, and not a thing. The staff knew exactly what was going on, and the girl preparing the table was clearly embarrassed that we had to wait that long. Although she never approached us or said anything, these signs on her face were clearly visible.

4)The Food- Expensive & Disappointing. I??m sorry, no other words for it. It was clear that this was a rush job, and the lack of spices need for these dishes were not added or marinated correctly. (2) Small items are about $15.00 each dish? Now my grandmother is Indian, she speaks Hindi, if I brought her there with such rushed food, what do you think she would say about me paying $15.00 for Chicken Vindaloo? If it was good, believe me, not a problem, but I waited an hour for rushed food.

AWESOME food, creamy dishes, quality ingrediants. Huge chucks of chicken in the Chicken Tika and you can order it spicy. Portions are enough for 2-3 days of left overs. I love this place. Top customer service.
