Like sitting around and waiting? You will love it here! You usually get into see the Doctor about 1.5 to 2.0 hours after your regular scheduled appointment - I mean wow - my time is important too. The staff has this 'I dont care' attitude - PASS ! I can be abused other places - why pay for it !

Horrible Treatment\r

I went to this Orthopedic after an ER visit to Gulf Coast medical Center. I had fallen while at work. Self employed and no insurance I went to the er for medical help. I have worked all my life and 2 years ago found myself in the jobless pool. I have had medical insurance for 30+ years and never knew how those without are treated until I went to this office for medical help. I was treated so rude by the older blonde lady in office as soon as I walked in. I was able to pay cash that day so they cut the cost almost if not in half. I would have paid 3 times if I had to make payments. How does that help anyone? All they did was tell me I didn't have any breaks but they really couldn't tell because my elbow was still so swollen. Told me to go get and MRI but if I did that it would cost me $167 up front. If I could afford this I could probably afford insurance. Then come back and give them $75 again for WHAT??? The whole point was they corral you in, you sit for 2-3 hours, they have no concern for your injury or pain. Money is all they care about, not getting people well. I told them when I was leaving, (as I was crying for being treated so bad) "" I have been a ""have"" and I have been a ""have not"". It sure doesn't feel good to be a have not but it hurts worse when you are treated that way by those who demean you and look down their nose at you. \r
I recently was blessed with an awesome job and now have insurance. My husband has had several injuries over the past couple of years because he does hard physical work every day. He has been to the ER probably 6 times in the past 2 years. He had surgery on his knees 20+ years ago. They are so wore out and hurt so bad. When he has gotten hurt he had to go to ER because we didn't have insurance. Now we have insurance and so he made an appointment with a specialist. He wants to feel better and have some quality of life. They treated him so rude there also. The blonde lady talked down to him with every word that she said to him. A NP came in the room and tried to move his knee all around, acted like he knew about orthos. My husband asked to see the doctor. They let him sit from 2:30 til 4:55 and all they did was xray, NP came in then finally when he asked for doctor, they let him sit again until finally the docotor appeared. Malik is his name. He didn't sit and listen, he talked over my husband about his body like in his 2-3 yrs since school knew it ALL!!! My husband also has a bad back and was diagnosed with degenerative disk disease. He is flatfooted and both knees are bone on bone when he walks. My husband mentioned fibromyalgia and Dr Malik told him that fibro is a myth and that WOMEN make it up so they can lay around the house all day and moan and cry. He said it is a woman ""thing"" and that men don't get it. I was diagnosed in early 90's with fibromyalgia and drs had me on 6-7 different meds for a period of years. I had no quality of life, I stopped all meds and still have fibro but manage to get thru each day with the Lord's help but what my body feels is real. I resent medical help and advice like this. If you are a Family practice or general medicine office then you need to treat everyone as an individual and take it case by case. I would NEVER recommend this office to anyone beginning with the UNFRIENDLY office all the way back to the drs in the back. Do not waste your time unless that's all you have is time!!! And money helps!!\r

I have seen a few of the doctors at Southern Orthopedics. They are very professional and so are the nurses and staff. They can perform tests such as bone density and x-rays on site. They have general practice doctors on staff. Overall, they are high in patient service. I have no problems with them accepting my insurance.
