The Gansevoort is one of the most incredible hotels around. A very modern, energetic yet sophisticated atmosphere. If you appreciate luxury then you'll need to stay here at least once in your life.

If you want to be like the kids from Jersey Shore, you like crowds of drunk people on weekends pushing to get into the rooftop pool, fire alarms going off in the middle of the night then stay here. There is new management recently so hopefully things will change and go back to the early days when there was a cool, chill - even sophisticated- crowd here.

Pros: Roof top pool deck bar -- huge

Cons: not really any....expensive drinks--but that is everywhere.

I decided to go Miami on a whim, I have some family out here and haven't been to FL in years. I think the last time I went was when I was a kid going to Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando. I didn't want to cramp into my aunt's home so I was researching some great hotels to stay at. I checked out the usual hotels, but remembered on a trip to NY that I stayed at the Gansevoort there and loved it.

The price was around my budget so I decided to go for it. The rooms are beautifully decorated, they have a nice Miami flair to them. The room was spacious and the hotel was in amazing shape (i read some bad reviews). The restaurants there were top-notch, but I really really enjoyed the Plunge lounge. They have these nice cabanas there to lounge around in and the scenery is amazing. I met a lot of cool people during my stay and the women are gorgeous. Whenever I go back to Miami, this hotel will be the first on my list. I truly enjoyed my stay here and the staff did a great job in my opinion.

Pros: Plunge lounge, restaurants, amenities, decor

I was in Miami for the weekend and needed a great place to stay. This had been recommended to me by my friend who is a local, so I went her suggestion thinking she would know best. I couldn't have been more impressed. Everything from the beautiful decor, amazing staff service, and great pools & bars made my vacation that much better. I had come in the middle of a heat wave and cooling off at the pools while sipping margheritas became a favorite activity. Plunge, the roof top pool was my favorite! It had an amazing view and I had never seen anything like it before. If you're looking for a great place to stay in Miami, come to the Ganservoort!!!!!!!

Pros: bars, pools, service, decor, shopping

Cons: make reservations

I was recommended the hotel by a friend who had stayed here previously and had nothing but great remarks for the establishment. I was here on a business trip for Art Miami and the hotel made my experience even better. From the previous review, I would have never thought to stay here, but we all have our opinions. I thought the decor was beautiful, elegant, and modern-sophisticated. I was not able to checkout all the restaurants, but Philippe was definitely a place I wish I had where I live. This stlyish, shanghai-inspired restaurant was amazing, I dined there two times during my stay...think Mr.Chow's in Beverly Hills kind-of-food, but better. Also, the Plunge lounge was beautiful, but not as inviting because of the horrible weather during the fair. But, who doesn't love a rooftop bar?!

Next year, I will be staying here again during Art Miami. I just hope that next time the weather isn't horrible.

Pros: restaurants, bars, decor

I stayed here on vacation for a week with a few friends and had the most amazing experience! We came here on a whim not really knowing what to expect. What we got was just what I needed to enhance my vacation. My friends and I fell in love with the decor and great looking guests surrounding! How can a group of single girls go wrong with plenty of eye candy to keep us busy? The hotel had an amazing roof top pool we visited almost everyday. It served as a gereat location to relax, and meet cool new people. We also loved the great cabanas we could lay in all day and enjoy the poolside view. I was pleasantly suprised and will surely be staying at this place next time I'm in Miami!!

My stay at Gansevoort South was nothing short of a spoof movie about how bad a hotel can possibly be. it is obvious the staff at the hotel have never worked in the hospitality industry, or possibly have never stayed in a hotel. The website is full of false advertising, as none of the amenities were complete during our stay: David Barton gym was a construction site and Philipe was nowhere to be seen.

I asked that our sofa bed be turned down on my way out to dinner. When I returned it was definitely still a couch. 45 minutes later someone returned with one pillow and one sheet. Apparently there were no more blankets in the entire hotel, and he had to check with his supervisor to see if he could bring me one.

The following night we ordered room service and the staff showed up in cut-off jean shorts. Hardly standard uniform.

The Plunge rooftop bar doesn't check room keys to make sure the guests are the only ones ordering off the roomtabs. Sunday afternoon the Miami Dolphins showed up and the pool and turned the space into a bad rap video complete with their entourage and lady friends. We ran into the manager in the elevator and told us that Plunge is "just like St. Tropez." I am sorry, but that scene is nothing like St. Tropez.

Creme de la Creme: At brunch an inexperienced waiter failed to open a nearby table's champagne bottle by pointing away from his face. He put the bottle on the table, face over the bottle, and pulled the cork straight up. NO LIE...the cork wizzed off and popped him directly in the eyeball.

As an added bonus, the incidental charges were put on the wrong credit card, and two months later this still has not been resolved. The staff and managers will not call you back to deal with any issues, and they always seem to be in meetings.

Do yourself a favor----STAY ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

Pros: Pool/Beach

Cons: No restaurant, at the very end of the strip, awful service
