My personal opinion and my personal asessment of my experience with Sandy Point Progressive Sports was a very BAD experience. Whether this was an isolated incident or not I do not know, but too many other companies out there for paddling and water sport supplies and equipment to take that chance and I will definitely go elsewhere for paddling or water sport purchases. Why take the chance by dealing with them again.
Purchased Hurricane Skimmer 116 kayak for +/- $1000 online. When received, the bag that the kayak was shipped in came in good condition no cuts, penetrations, damage to shipping bag. Inside major damage to kayak bottom which looks like it was ground extensively on concrete. Spider web cracks on bow stem. Keel at stern ground all the way to inner core almost all of the way through the hull. Bow keel also ground extremely deep and damaged. Looks like it was drug on swimming pool no skid or comparable not just a minor scratch but extensive damage. Blue epoxy spotted over kayak. Due to the condition that the boat was received in , I had to direct blame to either the shipping company or the supplier. After assessing the boat and the shipping bag / wrap I observed that the bag which the kayak was packed in was completely intact and not damaged at all. It was obvious that the damage had to occur prior to kayak being put into shipping bag or bag would have also been cut, penetrated, damaged or at least scraped and marked also. It was obvious that it was not damaged in shipping. Curtis the manager of Sandy Point stated that after assessing the situation it could not have happened at their facility and that it probably happened in shipping and there is nothing he can do except that I can sell the damaged kayak and he could give me 25% off if I would buy another kayak from him and at least try to recoup some of my money that way. Unfortunately I must now pursue to recoup my loss by third party means.
So due to my experience I cannot recommend this company to conduct business with.
