As a "snowbird" with a 2014 Toyota Sienna purchased in northern NY, I was anxious to find a reputable and convenient service dealer for my vehicle near my Florida home. I believe I have done just that with my three experiences with Gettel

I have mixed reviews on gettel Toyota, but I had to put 4 stars for what upper management did. He turned a sour deal into a great choice of character to make things right. I hope in the long run there staff learns from pour choices and does need upper management to bail them out. So the moral of my review is sometimes first impressions are not good, but it is the ending that counts the most.

John Mattick was a pleasure to deal with in every regard. He was friendly and cordial and knowledgeable and made us very comfortable. As someone who, long ago, was in the business I can say that he was 100% professional in the best sense

Bait and Switch! New location: same issues. Do not go to this dealership. I responded to an ad for a $6,000 used car. I called in to confirm I was coming, and upon arrival was told they didnt have that car on their list.

I provided my low budget requirement, and was told by the used car salesman that "for a little bit more money we can get you into something much nicer" than my original interest.

I reiterated how much I wanted to spend and that I wanted to see the breakdown of the numbers. After walking back and forth to his office, creating the illusion that he was making a deal, he then took me on a dog and pony show of other models (no price tags on any of their cars, mind you). After a test drive in a Kia, he brings me inside, and presents me with a $14,000 price tag -- more than double than what I planned to pay. The monthly payment was a joke, and spread-out over 6 years.

After telling him it was too much, and I'm not buying it, he then had a somewhat appalling meltdown saying he would have never printed out this information, the customer isn't supposed to see these details, and said "so when you told me you wanted to buy a car, you didn't mean it? He kept pressuring me into leaving with the car, and eventually brought the GM over.

The GM asked why I was upset, and didn't understand why I didn't want a brand new car, while Meltdown is behind me saying "you said you wanted to buy today". The GM further pushed the deal on me, waiving all down-payments, and lowering the monthly rate to a still-unattainable monthly payment, and eventually realized I wasn't biting.

Meltdown then shooed me outside (since I apparently was too loud in the showroom) to further drill into me how I shouldn't have told him I wanted a new car, then wandered back inside.

There are too many dealerships out there to waste your time on this one.

thought I was all set to buy a car from Gettel Acura. Confirmed my appt with them at 8:30am. A few hours later I got a call that the car was sold. That wasn't the worst part. Although I was disappointedbthat I lost the car and thought they acted dishonorably, I was made to feel worse when I complained to the GM. He started off the conversation wondering why I was upset. When I explained that I thought I couldntnhave made it clearer that I intended to buy the car he proceeded to lobby insult, after insult at me in his smarmy car salesman voice. He intimated that I didn't understand that " they weren't a Kia or Hyundai dealer, but a higher line business" what does that have to do with anything? Then he berated me for not buying the car on the spot (hello?! Some of us don't have $24k sitting in a bank. Guess that's why he made the comment about Kia/Hyundai) and tried to call me a liar. Not once did he say sorry. And that's really all I wanted. Chuck J is a self important prick who doesn't understand the first thing about customer service. Am currently trying to get to Corporate to lodge a complaint against him. I was gonna drop the matter but now I won't stop until I bad mouth them to as many people as possible

After purchasing 5 cars in the past 4 years from Gettel Automotive, I've had it with deception. I purchased a new Genesis, signed the paper work and was told I had financing with Hyundai at X percent. I received a call from my saleswoman informing me that I must resign all of the paperwork because the bank refused my loan due to the fact that I had "too much at the back end". Seems the business manager added, against my wishes, the 10 year, 100,000 mile bumper to bumper waranty (my saleswoman confirmed this-I can't find a copy of it in the paperwork Gettel gave me). To anyone who reads this, STAY AWAY from Gettel Hyundai (I cannot speak for the rest of his dealerships)

I ordered some parts I needed for a repair. On a positive note, when I called to check if they arrived on schedule, I was told that they did. I ordered an exhaust pipe, and the two gaskets and clamps it needed for installation. I walked in and handed my ITEMIZED receipt to the guy behind the counter in the parts department. He took the reciept and returned with the exhaust pipe. I walked out, and realized that the gaskets and clamp were not there. I went back in, and he said, "Oh, it's missing some parts." He went back to get the other parts, and returned with one gasket and one clamp. Before I walked out, I realized that I still needed the other gasket. I went back up to the desk and said, "I paid for two gaskets, and you gave me one." At this point, the guy turns to another worker and says, "Oh, you didn't give her the one we have in stock?" As if all three of us had not been standing right there the entire time, and as if there was any chance this guy could have given me the fourth part. So the first guy goes back for the third time, and finally hands me the other gasket.

I head over to MIdas to complete the repair (they quoted me a much better price than the dealer--30% less), and a few hours later they call me to report that the repair is complete, despite the fact that the Toyota dealer had sold me the WRONG gasket, and had not included the needed bolts to install the part. The Midas shop was kind enough to throw in some parts at no cost, in order to complete the repair.

I went back to the Toyota dealer to return the gasket, informing them that they sold me the wrong one. They wordlessly refunded my money, with no apology whatsoever. If the guys at MIdas (on Manatee Ave.) did not happen to be so nice, my car would still be in disrepair, and I might be stranded.

In conclusion, Gettel Toyota-Kia sucks, and they are lucky I did not go postal in their shop. A relative of mine who lives in Bradenton (independant of this incident) has sworn off Toyotas, not because they are not great cars, but because she refuses to deal with these people.

Pros: Parts almost arrived on time

Cons: Dinhonest, Incompetant, Brain dead

It seems that new car warranties aren't worth the paper they are printed on and or the dealers like Gettel used them to sell their overprice service and parts. After many failed attempts to have certain repairs made being told they were normal to the car, it seems Gettel could make the repairs after the warranty had run out. We had to have them re-do oil changes three times after they used the wrong oil, clean the interior after one of their techs used the car to clean himself, in the last failed attempt to use their service to repair the engine missing problem, they quoted us over $1200 for a tune up, we have since had the car repaired for less then $200. Gettel may be a great place to purchase a car from, but when it comes to their service, I would caution you to get a second opinion

After receiving a letter from the general manager of Gettel Toyota offering to pay me the full MSRP of my 2002 Toyota Sienna Van when it was purchased in 2002 for a new car that would be be more gas efficient in this economy, I jumped at the chance. I went Gettel Toyota figuring that my MSRP was around $21,000, and a new car would be around $25,000, so I would probably spend around $4,000 to $5,000 and have a newer more economical car. It took 2 sales associates to read the fine print in the letter saying they would deduct for all of the mileage. At 51,000 miles on my 2002 car they offered $3,000, far below the Kelly Blue Book for trades. The letter had many bold paragraphs, which did not relate to what the deal was. I was deceived, and walked out. I have bought 4 cars from them over the years but will never darken the showroom again. I intend to send a copy of the letter to the FTC.

I signed the purchase/financing papers for a used car three weeks ago. Despite repeated phone calls to the salesman and the finance department, I have yet to be informed if the financing has been arranged and that the car I drove off the lot that evening is mine. Twelve messages totally ignored. The paycheck stub that I faxed the day following the purchase failed to reach the person for whom it was intended despite his name and the deal number being on the cover sheet; I have confirmation that the fax was received. So, my paycheck stub bearing my social security number and both my checking and savings account numbers along with my address and, obviously, my annual income is just floating around a used car lot somewhere. Additionally, while speaking with the salesman he sneeringly informed me of the full name and poor credit score of a previous customer (and her father). If you value customer service and discretion then I would strongly recommend avoiding Gettel Automotive. I will certainly never do business with them again.

We went in here for a test drive of a Kia, and having to park next to the Toyota building didn't realize that we were going into the wrong building. We asked the first person we saw if we could be directed to the rest room, and his response was here you go when your done we will sign you up, seeing a radio station on the grounds we figured they were talking about some kind of contest or something. We went over and sat down, and asked what we were signing up for, he said oh this is just to get you financed quicker, we told them we weren't there to buy, but they insisted on taking our information down. When we were down all the paperwork, we asked to please test drive a Kia, and we were told that we were in the wrong building and he proceeded to tear up all the paperwork and complain about us wasting his time. We went over to the next building the Kia dealership and were greeted on the lot by a very nice gentelman, that didn't insist we do any paperwork, and let us look around and test drive some nice vehicles without any pressure at all. I would say that the Toyota dealership should be taking some lessons from the Kia dealership right next door.
