Banfield The Pet Hospital is HORRIBLE do your research

by josh t.

My service was completly unsatisfactory. I purchased a resuced puppy from the petsmart adoption center and got roped into the "welness" program that has a substantial start up fee with monthly payments that contracts for a year. During this time you are to get monthly visits and a spay or neuter for your dog (included). With every monthly visit they have a $100 issue that must be taken care of immediatly. In my case the dog required an $80 dip every 14 days for 8 visits. But after researching the problem could also be ammended with another medication that would cost $40 and no visits, however they do not telll me that, another vet did. And today when it became time to get the "included" spay I spent $100 on blood work, and never got the spay. I am so discussted I payed off the program ($190) and cancelled it, and my dog needs to get spayed. The hidden fees are never ending, not to mention the staff is ignorant. My two cents.

Do NOT take your pet here!

by Rhonda B.

I've never had my cat treated so inhumanely before at a vet's clinic. It was Saturday and my cat was acting very listless. I couldn't get her to eat. I knew something was really wrong and the only place that could see her on a Saturday was this clinic. My cat gets a little stressed at the doctor's. I told them this. Normally, the vet just gets an assistant to help. This doctor brought out a big net, scooped up my cat, and carried her to the back. I couldn't see what was going on. I just heard her crying. Of course, he told me that scooping her up in the net was the most "humane" way to handle her. Not true. They ran all kinds of tests. These were quite expensive. Just to give her fluids cost over 100$. (Only 10$ at my normal vet the very next week).I was told she had a kidney condition. When I got her home, she was so disoriented from the anesthesia that she could only drag her 2 back legs to walk. She had a bald patch on her neck from where they shaved her (did not even bother to tell me that they were going to do this). She was so traumatized that she continued to growl and hiss all night. She has NEVER acted like this after a visit to the doctor before. When I took her to her normal doctor on Monday, he was very caring and patient with her. He took almost 30 minutes to discuss her condition and my options. He told me that she should NOT have been completely knocked out like that at the clinic with her condition. She was lucky that it did not kill her. He would only have used mild gas to calm her down if at all.

Do NOT Take Your Pet Here - If You Care About Them

by Anonymous

Banfield is a waste of money. They don't allow you to have a payment plan. They only focus on dogs...if you have a cat...do not take them here. They have no idea about them.

Pet Care

by Sharon F.

I recently took my dog (Leo) here for care. As it turns out, Leo needed surgery for a kidney stone. I was VERY happy with the care that he received from Dr. Ruiz! Banfield is expensive (over $1.000 for Leo's surgery, even though I have insurance). Leo is part of my family, and the money was of minimal importance to me (especially when he started acting like his old self a short time (two days) after surgery. There is not a price that can be put on the love that I have for my dog! However, I later thought that if I hadn't had the money at the time, what would I have done for Leo? They didn't offer a payment plan even though Leo has been a patient since 2005 (I did ask).
