There's so much to say about how docs portray people, things, events, inaccurately, that I won't waste time here. But it's important to consider that the goal of a documentary such as King of Kong is to entertain, not necessarily to portray people and events realistically. Human beings are complex and it's unfortunate that most documentary filmmakers can't or won't portray such complexities. More than most documentary films, King of Kong is guilty of this.
I urge anyone who has seen the film to Google Billy Mitchell, see all the charity work he's done, and be sure to check out his new high score.
