My experience here was awful. I went for my wedding trial for hair and hair for my wedding day and manicures and pedicures over 3 days-- and they messed up the scheduling and payment of all of them. I even called between appointments to say this mistakes were made and to make sure they wouldn't happen again--but they seemed to get worse with each visit. Not to mention that my hair did not look good. Thanks for nothing, Level 2 Salon.

I wouldn't drive one hour each way if this salon was not the best!
What makes it the best? First of all, I am very picky about my hair color, style and what products I put on them. No one can believe that I have grey hair under my beautiful blonde mane. Alicia artistically designs my hair color w/ highlighting that gives it a very natural look. The Aveda products are all natural and environment friendly which is important to me. To top it off, when Alicia washes my hair, she also gives me a relaxing & moisturizing hand massage.
As I said, i am really picky about my hair style. Martha is the best!. I have naturally curly hair which I also like to wear straight sometimes. So my hair style has to be cut so that it looks good either way. You would never know that I have collicks and frizzy hair without my perfect cut and the Aveda products. and trust me, I have gone to a lot of salons in my life and I was never this happy before.
All of the hair specialists that work there are professional, friendly and talented.
As an architect, I appreciate the modern & zen-like architecture and ambiance. Very chic but also sophisticated.
A very classy & pampering hair salon!

I want to recommend Lindsay at Level2 Salonspa in Hyde Park. I just had the best facial I've ever had. She has an amazing touch from the foot bath to the peppermint shoulder rub, the entire experience was very relaxing! I left feeling so refreshed. I recommend this salon to anyone looking for an experience not just a treatment.

I recently had a very relaxing experience at Level 2 Salonspa just before the holidays. This was my first visit with Alisha who updated my color in time for the holidays. What a wonderful experience! Alisha was so pleasant and very talented. My color came out great and I recieved lots of compliments over the holidays. Level 2 Salonspa is a very relaxing, guest oriented spa. I was treated to a cool refreshment and a great hand massage. I would recommend this spa to everyone. They have a great selection of Aveda products and a very knowledgeable staff to help you make your selections. I signed up for their e-mail notifications and received some great notices of holiday specials. I look forward to returning to Level 2 in the near future.

I drove nearly two hours for a haircut at Level 2 Salon in Old Hyde Park Village...and it was worth every mile! I've been a resident of FL for nearly eight years and have had one disappointing haircut after another. Finally I have discovered Josh who is an amazingly talented stylist! Very cutting edge! The salon is stylish and the staff courteous and professional. I recommend Level 2 Salon to all who value excellence in hair design.

I have always in the past had great hair cuts at this salon but my last experience has turned out to be a nightmare. I requested a perm. I asked for loose curly perm. At first the stylist was going to use spiral rods but didn't even have enough for my hair. Therefore rolled my hair with perming rods instead. After rolling my hair he poured the solution on hurriedly and I wore the solution all over me even on the front of my jeans. Then he just left me to just drip. Another stylist came over to help dry me off and change me into another dry gown. My hair came out part curly and part staight and the frizziest mess I have ever had. And for those loose curls, the perm came out with tight curls. I am so embarresed of my hair now and don't know what to do. I have been pulling my hair back in a pony tail to hide the mess.

It's hard to choose a new stylist when you've outgrown your last and it's time to move on, however, change is good!

In January I did a simple search to find nearby salons and their new location in Hyde Park Village came up first, being 0.2 miles away at the former Alan Ledo location in Hyde Park Village (which I'd been to). I didn't think they could have improved the interior as it was already a beautiful salon but I was shocked - it was even better! it's reminiscent of an upscale full-serivce salon you'd find in bigger cities like NYC or LA. Much better interior design and more sophisticated than before. The service was absolutely impeccable. As a guest I've never been treated so well, end-to-end, by everyone in the entire salon - regardless of whether or not I was there to see them. Customer service is obviously paramount here. Everyone was extremely friendly and introduced themselves personally on my first visit.

And to make it all the better, I've received the best haircuts I've ever had in my life, my stylist took her time - but her attention to detail showed. Every strand fell perfectly and the QUALITY of the haircut was unsurpassed. I'm talking "runway" quality. She wouldn't let me out of the chair until it was absolutely perfect. For the first time, and for comparable rates to other local upscale salons, I felt as if I had been taken care of like a celebrity. I've been here for 17 years, so yes, I've been to almost every salon worth it's salt in Tampa and have the experience to make comparisons.

I honestly, have never had so many strangers walk up to me in public and ask where I got my haircut. (One woman even said she was willing to drive from Clearwater). I'm moving out of state next month and I will continue to be a client even if my haircuts turn out to be $500 with airfare....because it will actually look like a $500 haircut, besides that the level of professionalism and treatment is priceless.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE AVEDA LEVEL2 SALON!!!

Cons: nada

Unprofessionalism: This is nothing to do with a bad haircut or other service; moreover, an unfriendly staff and uncooperative management. Zaggat would rate this a 1 for service. If that.

I came in to this new location (near where I live in Hyde Park), on recommendation of my hairstylist in Manhattan, who was schooled in the Aveda style. He said Aveda colorists know how to highlight to flatter any cut, face or skin color. And he told me exactly what to ask for, in Avedaspeak, which I repeated to this so-called Aveda colorist - word for word. Well, my colorist was adept at distributing the highlights, and she put alot of work into each strategic placement. All good traits, except for one thing: the color was completely off! I asked for subtle brown, like expresso. She gave me brass blond. My hair looks cheap with these tacky bleach highlights. Then I find she may not have used Aveda Color, but Loreal, which this salon seems to specialize in (see other reviews) For my further troubles, I had to pay a hefty 3-digit price plus tip. Now I'm gradually fixing my own color courtesy of this shampoo-in color stuff I got at Walgreens, which is doing a better job at getting the color right at 9 bucks. Sigh.

I don't think Level liked to listen to what I was telling them. Even when I saying it in their language.

Cons: PARKING AND BAD HAIR SERVICES

Not so great. I went to this salon last week based on the better reviews it received and close to my home. I suppose I should have re-read the bad reviews. I was placed with an inexperienced person who did a lousy haircut and the color was so-so. She had to keep checking with someone on everything she did which made me nervous. I was not told she was new to doing hair, and the price was outrageous. I think I will stick with my regular person.

I have only been here one time and I will not be going back. Although the atmosphere is nice, I received the worst haircut I have ever gotten. It is uneven, doesn't lay right and looks terrible. The only reason I am writing this review right now is because I'm on citysearch trying to find a new salon to correct this mess I have on my head.

I am a bottle blonde with natural brown hair. It is not easy to color dark hair and make it look great. On advice from a friend, I went to Level and it was fabulous! Max made my dark locks beautiful and that same day 3 people stopped me to tell me my hair looked great. He was extremely thorough and took great care with my hair. On a side note, a lady beside me was raving to her stylist about her color when she was leaving. I don't know who the stylist was, but it was a lady. The people in the reception area were very nice and checkout was a breeze. I will definitely be back to see Max. I truly have never had someone color my hair with results like I had this time.

I see 2 people posted negative reviews. Do not let those reviews turn you off to this salon. I live in the Clearwater and drive an hour just get my hair done here....yes, the talent at this salon is that good. I've been going there for over a year and a half. The staff is always courteious, helpful and friendly. My stylist is amazing. People are shocked to hear my hair is highlighted and colored because they thought is was natural...that's a sign of a very talented colorist. I have never had a bad cut here either. If you communicate with your stylist you shouldn't have a problem getting the cut you want. I think the previous negative posts might of had problems communicating with their stylist at the time. As for the negative comments about another reviewers color job, I have not had that problem. I'm thinking that reviewer was VERY picky and maybe had unhealthy hair to begin with. There's only so much a good stylist or colorist can do...they aren't miracle workers. You can't come into a salon with a picture of your favorite celeb and expect to look exactly like that when you leave. I've also used the hair removal services and was very satisfied. Yes the price maybe a little more for some higher level stylists/colorists but if you leave feeling great and looking great....it's priceless! So if your debating trying this place out...give it try. They wil not disappoint you.

Cons: Diffuicult getting into parking lot due to heavy traffic. Uncomfortable waiting area seats and not enought seats in the waiting area.

I've been going to Level Salon for several years and I wouldn't go anywhere else! I've seen several different stylists and have been very happy with each of them. The atmosphere is very calming, and they are always attentive. When I come in for color, they give a relaxing hand massage, and the best scalp massage ever! They do reminder calls, and make sure I can get in when I need to. There is a stylist for every price range, and the training program must be great because they are all wonderful. They offer facials, mani, pedi and all hair services. Definitely give this place a try!

I moved to Tampa a little over two years ago and tried a few other salons before finding Level. After my first experience I never went anywhere else. I have been to the salon probably 10 times for cut, color, highlights and have been very happy with the results. My stylist Nikki is AMAZING. My roommate and I nicknamed her gods gift to hair! I get compliments on my hair all the time & I always refer people to Level. The pricing is fair and the atmosphere is very relaxed. It's always a pleasant experience. If you are really picky about your hair like me and you expect a perfect job every time I would definitely recommend this salon.

I have been to many salons in the area and have never been "completely" happy with any of them, until I found Anthony at Level Salon. I had my hair done at a salon in New York and I loved the way they did it, but I knew I wouldn't be able to travel all that way just for my hair. So they referred me to Level salon, in a round about way. I have been there three times, so far, and I have had nothing but a positive experience. I went in with an idea of what I wanted, Anthony told me what he was going to do and he made it look the exactly the way I wanted it. Everyone there is extremely friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxing. I will continue to go to Anthony at Level Salon. The prices are very reasonable.

Thank you Very Much for my beautiful hair! And thank you very much for the overall experience!

I too am new to the Tampa area and after having gone to a few places around the USF area and downtown, I finally decided to try out this salon because it uses Aveda products. It was really weird- it seems as though the stylist had only been trained in a certain style of haircut because no matter what I requested, I always ended up getting the same thing. She likes to do alot of the razored-look and ended up creating a style that I think is too severe and "sculpted" whereas I like my hair to fall softly and naturally. I don't know if this is the Aveda institute training or what but I didn't care for it. I had color done several times and each time it was not what I wanted. In one instance it was like $200 and the color came out uneven and splotchy. For that much money, the color should at least be even. I had to get another box of hair dye at the grocery store and fix it myself when the color-depositing conditioner they reccomended did not even it out. At a salon, it should be right the first time. If not, they should bend over backwards to fix it, not tell you to do it yourself with another product. I have had better results coloring my hair at home. I wish I had not made the decision to get color at this salon. Be warned-- your hair color will look differnt in the salon than under lights at home and you may not be pleased. I hate to say this, but I question the quality of Aveda haircolor. It never turned out nice.

New to Tampa, I chose this salon because it is supposed to have rigorous standards. However, I have never been more dissatisfied with a salon experience...I should have known that they were not customer-orientated when my reminder call came from a computer! Anyway, unbeknownst to me, I had a "junior" stylist and she took FOREVER to do my cut and highlights (almost 4 hours), and didn't do a good job on top of that. My highlights were not taken to the root, so I looked like a skunk and within 2 weeks I looked like I had never been to the salon. When I called to complain, the manager said that I had a junior stylist and implied that I get what I pay for and that--direct quote-- "is why the price was so low" (I paid almost $200 with tip). She then continued to try to give me a guilt trip saying that I should have called within a week and wasn't going to allow me to return. I travel extensivly for work and left for New York the day after I had the service done--how could I have been back within a week? When she finally agreed, she wanted me to go back to the same stylist--if she didn't do it right the first time, why would I want her to try again? Eventually, she allowed me to schedule a different stylist, only to have it cancelled the day of the appointment. I had to reschedule a week later, and during that time decided that I didn't want to do business with this salon. Yesterday (nearly 2 weeks after the reschedule) they called me wanting to know if I wanted to reschedule--I think not! If you can't run a salon more efficiently than that, no thank you! My friend also had similar dissatisfaction with their customer service and knowledge, stating that "anyone can cut curly hair", and then them not returning her phone calls in a timely fashion. I only wish I knew how to complain to Aveda--this salon gives them a bad name!
