I've just discovered Thai food after years of relying on Chinese takeout as my only foray into Asian cuisine. This restaurant was the first I've tried and after sampling several others in the Tampa Bay area, and it's the only one I've come to trust. The food is consistantly fresh, flavorful and plentiful. Artfully presented origami carrots or cucumbers garnish even basic appetizers. My favorite dish is the most basic, the eponymous Pad Thai. However, Thai Island's preparation is always perfect, the right blend of hearty noodles, sweet sauce and crushed peanuts. Also, the crab rangoon appertizer is wonderful. Fried yes, but greasy never.
The casual atmosphere is great for a mid-week dinner or even a large get together on a sat. night, but sometimes the casualness lends to slow service. We have solved that problem by ordering two Singhas (Thai beer) at a time.
